Man, this video really reminded me how much I loved Desmond and the modern day assassins. I know a lot of people really didn't like getting pulled out of the animus and Ezio's story, but the moments where we got to know Desmond, Shaun, Rebecca, and Lucy better as individuals and as a group were what made the series a favorite for me to begin with. Revelations was my favorite of the Ezio trilogy--I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it!
@jbcatz5
@jbcatz5 2 жыл бұрын
At least we got more of Shaun and Rebecca in games like Black Flag (don’t let him make you coffee), Syndicate and Valhalla. Their relationship is low key but so good to see. Shaun even turns up in the audio drama, albeit as an AI based on the character (yes, the voice actor did the role).
@allicat994
@allicat994 2 жыл бұрын
@@jbcatz5 Oh, definitely. Seeing Shaun and Rebecca undercover in Abstergo in Black Flag was a riot. And of course, the first thing I did out of the animus in Valhalla was listen to the audio files of Desmond and them chatting. It was so refreshing to hear the gang back together, even if it was a little morbid knowing what was gonna happen to Desmond a short time after the recordings. I didn’t know there was an audio drama! I’ll have to check it out.

Allie O It’s called Assassin’s Creed Gold, with the historical setting being Isaac Newton (played by Anthony Head) being assigned someone really an Assassin to investigate a counterfeiting ring. The modern day gets decent attention as well, with some characters from other media as prominent characters.

I took Desmonds parts for granted for sure. The games severely lacked a cohesive story after they ruined it all and he was gone. Really the beginning of the end for this franchise for me was when they stopped caring about a cohesive story tied to modern day. There was a reason they were going back, now its just a mess and shitty games with a shitty story dont go well. You can tell money began to take priority over telling a great story through a love of history.

It bothers me so much when people complains about "being pulled out of the Animus to have the modern day story forced upon them" when the modern day story is so fucking good. People tend to forget that the games are not about Altaïr, Ezio, or Connor; the games are about Desmond and how he's having to re-live the past to save the present, this is HIS story and he even says that in the opening, FFS! And I get it when they say it ruins their immersion, but that's literally the point. Just like Ezio said at the end of Revelations, the assassin's you play as are only a conduit for a message; a message for Desmond. And it's such a shame that they killed Desmond, ignored the modern day story for so long, and turned the game into a fantasy game. God, I really wish Valhalla and Odyssey were games from a different IP.

I know you were mostly focusing on the story, but some of my favorite game mechanics was being able to throw any weapon and summon my gang of master assassins to just murderify anything. Throwing broadswords at random guards (and the occasional civilian) was far too entertaining for what basically amounted to sociopathy Video was good, 10/10, would do Da Vinci side quests again

15:07 I thought this was just a reference to Bianca, Bartolomeo's greatsword. I thought that Ezio just accepted that Bartolomeo had named another weapon Pantasilea. 20:16 So, in this section, they explain in Rodrigo's bio (the one that Shaun puts in Tab) that after AC2, Rodrigo had a lot of near death experiences with construction/chandeliers crashing down near him. Was this purposefully done by the Assassins to keep Rodrigo scared and guessing, or was it mere coincidence? That's your interpretation. Anyways, all of these scared Rodrigo into taking a more passive role as the Templar leader, and letting Cesare deal with the more dangerous aspects of the Templar order 24:21 Actually, this is a reference to "The Prince" by the real Niccolo Machiavelli. The character of Ezio is based a lot on this book.

Random comment: People are probably gonna call me stupid for this, but Brotherhood in my opinion is slightly worse than two. Story is good but ends before it builds up, gameplay is improved but not by much. The open world is improved by a lot, but smaller as you only get to explore roma. Where as in AC2, you visit multiple cities. Overall, I don't think brotherhood is bad at all, but at the same time I don't feel like it's as good or better than 2.

I'm disappointed that you didn't seem to understand (or didn't point out) the references to Machiavelli's works like the Prince (in which he uses Cesare as an exemple several times) and the notion of Virtù that he pioneered (him repeating the word was just another case of "Assassins helping in inspiring real-life things" like Evie with the telephone). Niccolo was hinted at being a traitor but he never was, he just understood that just because Templars are the enemies, it doesn't mean that you can't respect or acknowledge some of their good traits.

SPOILER ALERT FOR ACV: The ending refers to Desmond’s fate post AC3, he goes into the grey in the natural animus, the one that the isu left behind. He becomes a prophet and calculates all possibilities where the world is saved. The “she” remaining to be found is Layla the present day protagonist from Origins to Valhalla, who joins him in the grey at the very end of the game. Very crazy to see this all play out exactly as they said it would.

I saw the Phrygian Cap and Masonic Eye as a hint of where the next game was going to take place (if Desmond didn't fall into a coma), the Phrygian Cap became known as the Revolutionary Bonnet in The French Revolution (which was inspired by the American one), and the Eye of Providence is on the back of the One Dollar Bill, one thing these two places share is the American Revolution.

Honestly, I absolutely hate how absurd their accents are. If you have a game in english, speak english without forcing an accent on everyone just because they're in Italy. I don't remember games doing this for france, spain, germany or chine or Japan. Somehow it seems only Italy and Russia get this treatment (and sometimes France, but that's when they want to insult someone). On another note, playing the Ezio saga in Italian is a magnificent experience and if you can set the game to having Italian voices with English text I highly recommend it because you CAN'T beat the Italian voice-actors for this.

Brotherhood was my first Assassin's Creed game. I was an avid player of Soul Calibur and when Ezio made that cameo on SCV, I totally fell in love and I wanted to know more. So, when the opportunity to buy the game presented itself, I bought it and wasn't disappointed. This very game here started my love for the whole franchise and I'm so happy for having found it. I loved how everyone had an accent to speak, how some italian phrases were stuck in the middle of their speech. It was just... 💗💗💗💗

I really need to replay this game. While Revilations is my favorite of the old guard games as it was my first to own myself, this triology is still amazing. Black and white with its storytelling but still emotive and compelling. And we can only hope Mirage will bring back the flame in the Devs if we put our money where our mouth is to give us what we want. Sure, the RPG style is a different sort of fun, but a return to a good form we missed so much is the new retro the old guard of the Ezio Triology fans need.

Brotherhood is my favorite AC next to Black Flag just straight awesome. AC2 fight style sucks, the improvement since brotherhood is awesome.

12:23 oh brother i feel you. Whenever i play any ezio game, I try to get the bare minimum of armor bc i love the default robes. In AC2, fortunately, they force us to buy boots. That's good, it doesn't intrude. In revelations, they also force us to buy spaulders but they look a lot like the default so tis ok. but GODDAMN the roman spaulders are very instrusive and do damage the aesthetic a bit. Makes me sad every time i play brotherhood because the default robes are just so good

29:20 Weren't the Phrygian Cap and the Eye of Providence only found together in the American Declaration of Independence? I always thought that bit was some cool AC3 foreshadowing. Maybe not, it's been a while since I've researched anything AC related.

Many regard this trilogy as declining in quality but I regard it the exact opposite. I like AC2 the least of the Ezio Trilogy, Brotherhood is my middle point, and Revelations is my favorite. There's just something about Revelations to pleases me more than the other 2 games and the good bye to Ezio is a truly sad moment as you've had 3 games to grow attached to him an in a way Ezio is still the face of Assassin's Creed even a decade later having had fun characters like Edward and Bayek in that decade.

If you don't do Embers...I'll I'll... Not unsubscribe but be forever disappointed. Either make it an epilogue to Revelations, or a short solo 5-8 minute bit

I see the Masonic Eye and the Phrygian cap thing a reference to Unity. Coz Masonic all overseeing eye can be a reference to the Templars and The Cap Assassin's. Unity is about an Assassin and Templar joining forces. moreover the team that made Brotherhood started work on Unity immediately after Brotherhood.

24:35 I think it's kinda cool that it's implied that Machiavelli wrote "The Prince" (essentially a guide on the use of power and leadership) about Ezio.

I can not believe that you didn't bring up the quote that Ezio's father wrote that Bartolameo recites in the escort mission ☠️ also I have to respectfully disagree about the spaulders ruining the robes. it's just the first building block of the most dripped out assassin we ever get. Especially after unlocking all weapons and using the sword of Altair again

Call me crazy but my favorite AC games are as follows Unity, Black Flag, Brotherhood. I hope you will do a review of unity as to me it feels like just as much of a thought provoking heart string pulling story of growth, ignorance, and most importantly love. Not just for those we care about and what we will do for them but blind love for ideals and views of a world so much bigger that so many feel they have to be in control of or know all about.

My first play through I enjoyed brotherhood slightly more than AC 2 but after replaying the trilogy it’s become my least favorite in the trilogy. I think it’s mainly cause I found the story really boring, also the shoulder pads you’re forced to wear annoyed me way more than they should.

So all because of a disagreement through Lucy's VA and the creative director, they basically say "make Lucy a traitor all along and kill her off 3 games in" Ouch

I was disappointed that Rosa from AC2 was not in the game. That is, until I found out about the tragic death of her voice actor, Lita Tresierra. I believe the name "Rosa in Fiore" was given in tribute.

Yk what I never understood if Lucy was always a Templar how did she know Rebecca and Sean so much from the past? Was she pretending to be an assassin with them leading to there history. Or is Sean and Rebecca templars to pretending to be assassins

comparing this storyline to the current AC Trilogy is just pathetic and sad . Least Bayeks story had a meaning , had care and love put into it , the other 2 were just stereotypical "ancient" greek and viking age ACs with more focus on mythos than progression of ending to a story .
