Karoo is the best of ducks. Everybody got some serious time to shine in this arc. Little garden really helps show the bizarro nature of the grand line. And the insane power structure of both devil fruits and normal people.

Two trivia facts about those episodes: This painter gal is an interesting one. Her ability is not a devil fruit, according to SBS iirc. Which makes it hella weird. We do not know what it is still. Aaand this giant goldfish... Usopp lied to Kaya about encountering one before. So his lie has became truth in an arc when he was pretty important :>

I feel like this arc is where the anime shifts gears a little. The humor gets way stronger while also getting a bit more serious in tone, the start of the unique laughs and reaction faces. Even the powers are more intricate and the quirks of each crew member start to get more pronounced. It's fascinating to see all of those things start around this arc and then to look back on it later and see that shift. (You also have a knack for leaving the series on cheeky cliff hangers don't you? Keep it up!)

32:10 “All this time later, Zoro’s scar is still visible.” That’s gonna be an interesting thing to take note of with various characters over the course of the series. Not every wound a character receives is going to leave a scar like that. Only something important to the character’s story is going to leave a lasting impression.

To be honest, I wouldn't expect them too, the time and effort to recall where every single injury is and then replicate it forever would be insane. But for now, Zoro's still being there is sick.

@@AnimeWins Agreed that it would be difficult to track, but One Piece is nothing if not detail oriented. It’s also because scars are important to Oda as a storyteller. They’re a reminder of the experience a character went through the get to where they are today, not just a cool character design addition. There are characters with intricate scarring, at least one of whom you’ve already met, who kept their scars every time we’ve seen them. The wounds that leave a mark tell a story about the character who was marked.

Something you missed with the giant fish: the story of a giant goldfish leaving island sized "emissions" is one of the first lies we hear Usopp telling Kaya, and thus it's one of the first times we see one of Usopp's crazy lies coming true.

But at least they are not right in the climax of that arc like in later sagas...

Spoiler If you think about it Sanji lying to Crocodile benefited him more than the strawhats. Considering how other than Crocodile himself nobody else in Barouqe Works can stop them this lie gave Crocodile the opportunity to focus his forces and officers appropriately so that operation Utopia could go as smoothly as possible Obviously his plans weren't going to work anyways but if he had sent anymore of his top officers after strawhats his plans would have been even easier to disrupt EVEN FURTHER SPOILERS The only good thing that happened because of Sanji's lie is that Luffy and Bentham became friends and that had a huge payoff in Impell Down so I guess it was more than worth it 😅

Its a little random, but im glad that One Piece shows good examples of non-toxic masculinity. Yes you can argue theres something a little wrong with how Sanji and Zoro see women, but their intentions are never bad or selfish, they dont mean to be buttheads, its just how they were raised. But then we also get those moments with Luffy where he isnt afraid to hug his friends or how we see him jump on Usopp for the crackers lol. They arent afraid to love their friends in a variety of way.

a late fun fact oda said luffy is so bad in social situations when left alone that he tends to just copy what others do thats why he keeps "forgetting" to be cold because hes not as cold as everyone else he also dose this when peeping on vivi and nami he was just copying sanji and ussop luffy is asexual and have any romantic feelings
