Mr. Nimmer has quickly become one of my favorite pianists. His playing is so elegant and refined. Reminds me of a young Bill Evans. Beautiful. Thank you for the upload.

Yes, I agree with you. He is so calm and smooth playing that lazy jazz. He is one of my favorites, too! SYLVIA! 3/8/21.

So true, and amazingly unpretentious and friendly with his colleagues on stage. The essence of jazz!

I caught the composer, Matt Dennis in an LA supper club in the '70s on Sunset Blvd playing His song on piano & singing "Everything Happens to Me" (1940) 'Tom Adair wrote the lyrics- They were both on Tommy Dorsey's staff in 1940 & apparently per Matt Dennis wrote this Great American Songbook gold nugget on the phone in about 45 minutes

I caught Sonny Stitt live over 20 times and own over 100 different albums by him. I never once saw him stand in front of a music stand or for that matter his accompanists. Nimmer plays with great lightness and delicacy--words that would never fit Bill Evans, who--whether in his early Debussy impressionist period with LaFaro or his last Rachmaninoff expressionist tour with Marc Johnson--always played "deep" in the keys. No extraneous fluff or chimerae. This slow tempo eventually bogs things down.

Listening this rendition, I could picture you playing on trumpets, while Timothée Chalamet accompanies on piano and sings.

Matt Dennis wrote it in 1940 when he was Tommy Dorsey's arranger/composer. Sinatra made a recording of it along with the Dorsey band. Great renditiion with Wynton Marsalis. Who was on sax and piano?

unpopular opinion, but what is this? who told these guys not to change dynamics or to stay in a tight range? i know the pianist is a great player but this wasn't it. looked and sounded like the band wasn't on the same page. bass player pulled it together but i find it hard to believe it was charted that way.

Arguably the most lovely of all jazz standards, a melody that demands a soft swinging tempo, punctuated with bursts of vibrant side play that sadly are rather missing here, the overall performance being somewhat stilted.
