This is just a part of Wynton's genius. He's able to get great musicians from every genre and instrument of music to create musical masterpieces together.

YUSEF LATEEF, (may the Creator bless his immortal soul) was an early pioneer of combining Eastern & Western musicians, and he performed on a variety of Eastern instruments. Wynton has quietly become a throwback musician. His efforts to keep the memory & art of LOUIS ARMSTRONG alive has been breath-taking. His efforts to keep the traditions of New Orleans alive is also breath-taking. He doesn't just talk, he walks what he talks. Excellent Work!!!

In 1958 my friends and I were getting ready to play Monopoly in his house.. I was 13 years old. My friend put on Lou Donaldson and I think that Blues Walk was the first song on the record. I became a jazz fan. BTW this is 2024.

What is so fascinating with the relationship between the musicians and they’re instruments is how they become one with each other and the instrument ends up with the “real voice “. Deep respect for all musicians, just the effort alone and putting your selves out there is extraordinary.♥️✌️

The sitar player (Nafees) was outstanding.. I have seen many eastern musicians combine jazz with eastern classical music but proved disappointing... There is still more to be done as the fusion btw jazz n eastern music still needs to be refined. Hats off to Nafees bcz its a very though jobs wht he did there.

Indeed, he somehow manage to absorb the jazz which is quite though with an instrument like Sitar. I recently saw some Jazz failures from Anoushka Shankar.
@MarkTarmannPianoCheck_it_out7 жыл бұрын
sounds like he dug a little into the basics of blues jazz, copped a couple of kenny burrell riffs maybe , and absorbed it. he had to like it. you have to like it, spend some time with it to play it well. the flute player does okay here, but he kills on my favorite things though, playing it straight up Eastern.

No it doesnt. I proves that people can learn things from other cultures. Like fashion, games, genres of music. Blues, the music genre, is not universal. It belongs to a culture and those that adopt it to express themselves musically should do so with respect and goodwill. Blues is great and a gift to those who play it. And human beings have an amazing ability to sympathize and learn and immitate and evolve their abilities.
