I am sorry to hear about the difficulties you've had lately, especially the one with your sister and I really hope you will resolve it at some point. On the other hand I am so happy to hear that Ketamine has been so effective for you. I'm a person who went out of years long suicidal depression. None of the medication ever did anything for me except Abilify stabilizing my mood a bit at that time but I stopped using it as I was afraid of developing some dangerous and irreversible long term side effects that most antipsychotic medication can cause. But hey, it served it's purpose and I am grateful! The point is, that after years and years of indescribable agony of mostly "treatment resistant" severe depression, anxiety and some other symptoms, I've recovered, and I'd say almost full so. So it took time, a looot of time, a lot of trying to calm down, a lot of trying to relax, a lot of career changing until I found one that is not stressful and that can allow me to recover (avoiding stress is the best environment for accelerating one's recovery from depression), a lot of distracting with various hobbies and activities etc. HOWEVER, I want to emphasize that I DO NOT EVER want to support the loony theories that say that "if you think positive you will heal everything", "all medications are bad and useless", "the law of attraction" and other baseless, nonscientific nonsense...nor to support people who dismiss the entire neuropsychiatry as a fraudulent scientific field and as "mafia" and other loony conspiracy theories. Yes, thinking positive is very important and one should do it whenever able to, but things aren't that simple, and people should seriously stop with that loony law of attraction thing and other quackery and conspiracy theories related to neuropsychiatry. The main reason I recovered was TIME, it takes a looong time for brain's chemistry to settle down and rebalance itself again. I assume Ketamine helps accelerate that process by somehow resetting the emotional part of the brain, and even giving you glimpses of the full remission at times, but unfortunately in my country such treatment is still not available so I had to recover the hard way. I think we need to keep believing and investing in neuroscience, I am 100% sure that that's the answer, nothing beats science in the long run ;) Please stay well Jonathan, and keep us updated with latest news in your life and treatment! :)

I'm so glad you've found stability and I agree with everything you said here. If possible, eliminating stress is key. For many afterall, it is stressors that trigger depression to begin with. And yes, I think positive thinking plays an important part for many and I would never speak against it. Only when it is preached as a soul source of therapy causing people to abandon treatments which have been studied, accepted and proven effective, that I feel compelled to speak out. Thank you so much for your insights and for sharing your experiences!
