For a man, I feel like that late 20's into 30 is where we start to mature and really work on ourselves. For me, I was at my rock bottom from 25-29 as I worked a minimum wage job, had a gf that didn't have as much drive as me and we only saw each other as roommates, and had parents who were constantly worrying how I would live life. I studied my ass off during those years because I knew I was the only one who could change the course and outcome of my life. Now, I am a software engineer, making money my parents dreamed of and it's just the beginning. If anyone is out there, especially as a man, who is feeling alone and struggling, know that I've/we've been there and possibly still there, and it's okay. What's not okay is to push off that feeling of "I gotta make a move". Start today, right now. No excuses. We got this💪

Summary: 1. Start investing sooner both in your relationships and your skills 2. Stop telling so many lies 3. Skip college or at a minimum simply learn how to learn on your own 4. Cultivate your inner circle with intention and care 5. Hell yeah. Society expects us to have it all figured out well by the time we are 18 or 20, be in a good career and making tons of money. Especially now in the Instagram age, everybody thinks that you should have multi million dollar success by the age of 22 or 23! And they treat you like you’re nothing if you don’t. But I think it’s much more realistic to understand that we’re going to bump around a lot and go through some pretty tough times in our 20s, and often in our 30s as well!

Something you may have not considered is when you were in your 20's, the access to educational resources (such as Google, KZbin, and just the WW web in general) was vastly constrained compared to what we take for granted today in 2022. Today we have access to all the knowledge mankind has ever acquired literally in the palm of our hand that anyone can call up 24x7x365. Today's youth cannot conceive of how much time and effort and money it took in the 70's and 80's to obtain knowledge on any topic, and when you actually did find something it was more often than not out-of-date. But, even with all that learning power there for the taking, totally free of charge, it still takes a positive and proactive attitude and hundreds of hours of work and dedication and actual participation to obtain a payoff for the future.
@AnthonyVicino
@AnthonyVicino Жыл бұрын
This is a great point. My dad and I talk frequently about the fact that if he'd had access to knowledge and resources I have back in the 80s, his life would've played out fundamentally differently. We're blessed to be living during this time and to have access to the opportunities we do.
@yangcoatienza3273
@yangcoatienza3273 Жыл бұрын
Funnily enough even though I agree with this sentiment, I usually counter with the statement that the vast amount of knowledge available to my generation also makes it easier to get "analysis by paralysis". Before the internet age, the problem was getting information. In today's era, the problem is getting the RIGHT INFORMATION. Also, the technology in this generation also saps the attention span of the youth as companies make sure that their fancy algorithms make sure that you are glued to your screens. So yes, that does not discount the amount of hard, smart and consistent work to achieve certain things.
@russburkert3778
@russburkert3778 Жыл бұрын
@@yangcoatienza3273 I agree with your comments. The pursuit of knowledge in today's internet age means we also have to remain keenly aware of the non-stop onslaught of gypsies, tramps, thieves, and trolls coming for our money, resources, and security. That can be a challenge for sure, but rest assured it gets easier as you get older (and wiser).

I just turned 21 and honestly this video was exactly what I needed. Ever since I started college I've felt incredibly lost. It's like trying to get to a destination with no map and with everyone pointing you in a direction you're slowly beginning to realize is the hardest, longest route to where you want to be. My ahdh brain has been a scramble mess, but I've been slowly learning the game these past two years and getting more confident at it. The part about investing in relationships and cultivating your inner circle really struck a cord with me. Problem is when you realize all these important things extremely early on, you're thinking on a whole different wavelength than a large majority your peers and it can get pretty darn lonely. I don't think it's something talked about very often, but eh, honestly what do I know? I'm still figuring it out as I go. Keep the great vids coming!

I'm 30 and still live at home. I lied a lot to my self, but I am fixing myself. I made a few of the mistake you made and I'm now learning to copy-write too. I read 50 pages a day on writing and write 1k+ words a day. Been doing this for a week, and I enjoy it. The last few months so many part of my ego died, and I've come to realize and overcome so much trauma and defense mechanism and self-delusions. I have no network and for the first time since a decade I feel really lonely. Like I feel it physically. But maybe I'll make something of myself, although it's rough to believe with my track record.

I’m 29 and just figured out all this stuff this past like 8 months. I never had a plan or clear goals. I got married in my early 20s and have just been riding my husbands coattail while I figured stuff out. Last summer I grew tired of being stuck and making the same mistakes and jumping from job to job that I decided to go to college. Although I think college is a scam, it’s helped me tremendously with my self esteem, making clear goals, and being completely honest with myself. I’m sad that it took so long to get myself going, but so excited I’m finally going in what seems to be the right direction.

Man my first job I got when I was 23. I know that was crazy but my work ethic got the attention of an engineer who needed help. (I was going to school at the time for engineering). The job is amazing. I'm an engineer now for the US government. Best job anyone can ask for. The dream everyone in my town wants and here I am.. now that I'm here I realize this isn't what I want. I'm 28 now. I am about to start my own business and hopefully I can pour all my energy into it and see it flourish. But everything this man says is true. Only reason I'm at where I'm at is because all the engineers I work for taught me things. My circle was strong. They're all millionaires because they have the side hustles. Sometimes I think about being 28 and getting older but I'm on my way. Just have to do what you have to do.

Your point on college is very true. University has this toxic effect of making people believe they will automatically be set for a great career. Reality is most degrees are a total waste of time except medical, engineering etc etc… I’m an example of this where half a decade of my life was wasted in one with another half a decade wasted afterwards. Easy to say now with hindsight I guess.

I think most people waste their 20s and some 30s. I know when I was young I thought if a person worked hard they got good raises and promotions. I was naive about that. I know how hard it is to go through life and to have regrets but fixing the situation slowly means that your experience of life will improve. 1. Make a healthy family for yourself (spouse and children). Make this your top priority. Don't put it off to your 30s. 2. Establish self-care practices to sustain you through the ups and downs of life (physical, mental, spiritual practices). 3. Develop discipline (set short-& long-term goals, learn to persevere). Apply discipline to your finances & all life matters. 4. Make a lifelong habit to help/give/be a good example. Think of all the ways you can contribute positively & then just do it! 5. ENJOY your life, appreciate the simple things & the big things. Experiment, live & learn. Laugh a lot! ~ ENJOY LIFE!
