I love my silicone dish scrubber ($3) I can sanitize it when needed and it doesn't break down. (I have used sand/gravel to clean my dishes before and the scrubber is a little easier) If you have mini shampoo containers (from hotels) reuse them to hold your dish soap, super handy and compact. And it might be overkill, but fireproof (industrial) gloves help to handle cast iron without worrying
@rei3 жыл бұрын
Heat resistant gloves are a great add, Melissa! We also really like your suggestion to reuse/repurpose mini containers. They come in handy for so much.

Love it! A have a box with a hand coffee bean grinder, drip cone, #2 cone filters and fresh coffee beans! Oh, teas, honey and my special camp mugs for these comforts! I also use plastic stacking and locking tool boxes with little separators to make it easy to find these essentials. Thank you for the ideas to add a few more specialities: zester, grater, etc…

Hello , your video is very helpful. I am just starting to get into outdoor cooking. I agree with your philosophy about being able to have amazing food outdoors as you do at home and at a restaurant. I have been slowly been putting together an outdoor kitchen and your video is helping a lot. Especially coming from a professional chef. Thank you
@louisperich6678 Жыл бұрын
just… wow. my home kitchen doesn’t have all these things. I wondered what a pro chef does when they go outdoors. love your passion for food, cooking, and feeding people. I have to admit, as someone who’s idea of splurging on a camp meal is to actually HEAT the MRE before consuming. I found the idea of a zester, finishing salt, and a whisk for whipping cream to be…exotic. My very minimalist setup will however be adding a shallow metal tray courtesy of you, so thanks! Gonna re-watch this vid as your whole approach is so different from everyone else I’ve seen on KZbin that I find it fascinating.

Maria, really appreciate your “pare-down” set. I tend to pack for a crowd, just in case, but I travel solo so I also have a complete set of single serving pots & utensils. Now I know why I love my fish spatula (not just for pancakes). And the spice & container kit was a thorough base starter cover-the-needs list. Love REI stuff; hope to see more. Applause.

holy guacamole, now THAT'S a pro set-up! i think at the point where you have a camp kitchen this sophisticated, you're really running a camp restaurant. 😅10 out of 10 would pay good $$ to eat at this pop-up restaurant in the woods. but even better that you have this set-up solely for the reason that you & your wife & friends just like having it! For future videos, it would be great to see more guest chefs and foodies - you've had some great folks along for the ride so far - but also more cooking lessons for us amateurs. Covering the basics in an outdoor setting would be especially appealing. for example, i'm in the perhaps enviable situation of having lots of people around me that know how to cook. since i don't have to do it, it is intimidating to learn. but taking something that normally seems challenging and putting it in a setting that is so appealing is super empowering! i love being out in the woods, and learning a skill while there makes learning much easier. a long way of saying: more cooking lessons in the woods, pls & thank yooou :):)

Very nice. Spend less time 'selling' us on each tool and just state what its for. You try to justify why you have each tool, and give a long tribute to each tool. No need. Just move it along. Fish and omelette spatula. Next. Rubber Spatula. Next. Rice pan. Next. Way too much talk. Women talk so much. Be more concise please. Enameled metal cups or plates are functionally useless. Heat dissipates fast. Try insulated steel or Corelle ware.
