I'm curious what beach they were looking at when they made these "beach properties". A little context would go a long way. I live by the beach and those don't look like anything even remotely close to what I see every day. There's no sand, no run down abodes that would look like a bunch of surfers rent, no poorly maintained lawns because people who don't live by the beach show up when it gets hot out and destroy your lawns and planters while they're walking to and from the beach... Honestly, I really don't know of anyone who lives by the beach that has a pool either, there's kind of no point when you could just go to the beach for free and not have the expense of maintaining a pool. Hotels being the exception of course. I think they should have called this something like "gated community" not "beach properties" and it would have been a better description. Just my two cents though.

OK, I'm in Tampa, and I see a lot of older more run down properties by the water on the beach in this area, but houses on fingers, canals, Davis Island, even just a block away from the beach do have pools (I've been in them) and Google Maps will show you quite a few newer nicer houses, more like the EU houses in this pack. But if I go NA, I can't use them. And no condos, hotels, or even beach-vibe service buildings. (see Tomas13TO's Palm Beach series all based on real Florida buildings) This asset pack is a travesty, an insult. And I am very worried about this new zoning category.

I think these assets are more intended to be NEAR the beach rather than ON the beach. Like a big part of SoCal.

@@Czardus Then a, it should not be called beach, and b, they should not have mentioned the Sunshine State. But I've moved on to other games and find that I'm missing CS less and less, so if that is what they want to do, it's their decision.

As people already have pointed out, it is odd to get a beach properties pack when you cant even make a beach. *But* i do like the way the assets look and as you say, it will give us more variety in our cities. Really looking forward to this one.

The NA buildings do not say Florida to me. In fact, the EU buildings are closer to what I see around me. And these are nothing but low residential. Look at Tomas13TO's Palm Beach series for CS. All based on real Florida buildings. But the special zoning worries me. I used themes to use and reuse assets in various areas. That gave me a lot of flexibility if a lot of work. How would I do that in this zoning scheme?

Special zoning is arguably MUCH better for unmodded play, because you can have individual homes be a different zoning style. You can easily zone a few squares with the regular NA style, then next to that you could zone EU style, and next to that zone Beach Properties style. Or zone an entire district as one of the styles.

@@Czardus Hmmm. In CS, I themed some simple looking duplexes as beach for cheap tourists and education for poor students so used them in both places. If I understand you correctly, I would have to zone squares near my campus as beach to get the same result and even then might not get the exact type of buildings I want. Yes, themes was a mod, but I still think it is more flexible. Will wait.
