Daeron was mentioned secondarily. When Daemon is talking battle plans he mentions all the dragons they have, compared to the Greens only having "four". We see Vhagar, Sunfyre, and Dreamfyre throughout the show, thus it is implied the 4th is Tessarion.

Jaehaerys and Jaehaera only have hatchlings plus are toddlers in the show so its definitely Tessarion being referenced.

The format of HotD compared to the original book is part of why I love the show. It's so cool to see what may have actually happened in the book (or what's outright been changed), and how those events are interpreted by the different sources. Hopefully Daeron will make up for his absence in season 2!

I am wondering how they'll show Aegon the Younger escaping his captured ship...he is really little to ride a dragon for sure. But I also hope that Rhaenyra is present for the Battle of the Gullet in the show...I want to see her in some battles and I think it would be interesting to see her try and save Jace from the water but she's too late.

They may be able to do it. Cause otherwise, we know Rhaenyra doesn't fight really in any battles, and I'm sure that Team Black fans will be upset if she doesn't participate much. But, could also make her character have another aspect. She's willing to send other Dragon riders to battle and possibly death than herself. Whereas Aegon II went ahead and led his troops to battle on the back of Sunfyre. They both end up surviving more Dragon battles than anyone else.

It’s strange. When I heard the announcement of HotD, I was so excited for more detail and a greater picture of all the characters from the book F&B. The dance was only really given about 150 pages worth of material. I was really happy with the first five episodes of the show but then with the time skip I was really disappointed. We didn’t get to see any of Aegon, Aemond, Helena and Deron’s upbringings or relationships with the Blacks. We barely saw Daemon’s relationship with Laena or Rhaenyra before the beginning of the dance and all in all, the world of Westeros didn’t feel alive. We missed out on many of the background characters and subplots that made Got season 1 so special. I would’ve loved to see more screen time for the greens, more tourneys and progresses over the years of tension brewing. I get that it’s a ten episode season but I really think they should’ve taken their time to establish characters more. Perhaps a 12 episode season would’ve worked better. I like the show but I feel like it was 2 or 3 seasons worth of material compressed into 1. Literally 2 episodes after Aemond claimed Vhagar, Aegon has been crowned. Rhaenyra had 5 children and we barely saw any of them. Daemon’s twins Rhaena and Baela were lifeless background characters. Years worth of character development was lost between episodes 5-6 and 7-8. What the show had was great but what they missed out on was arguably greater. Hopeful for season 2

I agree with you also. The first few episodes were far better than the last 2-3 episodes of season 1 :D. It's slow-pace but we have time to understand and see the plot developing. The end of the season is just mostly cinematic, epic stuff, characters trying to make themselves impactful with dumb conversations.

I was a bit disappointed in Daemon's ladies to be honest. I would have wanted to see Laena and Rhaenyra be besties, even lovers like it was hinted in the books and also Mysaria's storyline, apparently Rhaenyra lets Daemon spend time with her during their marriage too. But it's hard to fit all of that into 10 episode with time skips

Actually, regarding Vaemond Velaryon. He was actually Lord Corlys' eldest nephew in the books. So the 5 silent velaryons are actually great nephews of Corlys. In the show, they changed Vaemond as being Corlys' younger brother.

For real, instead of Criston Cole being a major player and schemer by having him persuade and even crown Aegon and be his hand as well as being the best warrior the show turned him into a dumb simp muscle henchmen. It was such a terrible change and huge disservice to his character.

I felt like the one man out for seeing Rhaenyra’s sex with Criston as an instance of highly dubious consent. She trapped him in a bind where he could honor his vows and take his chances with how this emotional teenage girl with power of life and death over him might take his rejection or risk going along with her desires and hoping it never gets out and she can keep the secret. To me it made his insufferable character more nuanced and sympathetic and I thought it would pay out with Rhaenyra getting comeuppance when Criston convinces Aegon to take the crown. Her spontaneous and careless actions of her youth coming back to bite her and her line. I liked how he felt like more of a dynamic character in the first half of the series, but by the second half he mostly feels like “Alicent’s simp/henchman”. I hope this changes but I feel like they already missed the most important moment for his character to shine and I’m not sure how they’ll recover. Other characters are better so it doesn’t ruin the show for me, just disappointing this one slipped through the cracks.
