“Aegons dream” is in reference to aegon the conqueror. it has nothing to do with the kids, Alicent thinks the king is talking about they’re son but he really wants rehenera to be queen because he thinks that part of his bloodline with birth “azor ahai”(Dani or Jon snow not sure until George finishes the books), because of the prophecy written on the Targaryen knife the king always has on him.

I get why reading the books can seem daunting, but I truly recommend giving the audio books a try! I listened my way through the entire series while taking the bus back and forth to school. If you like the show the books will give you more insight into the characters and introduce you to plot-lines that were cut, etc.

About the births. They were done through a female perspective so I get that you might not get it, but it's actually about showing that this can be as terrible and painful as war and violence. So yeah not a bit much more like hey look THIS is how bad it can be, how bad it mostly was during those times and sometimes can be now even with our medical advances.

Two complaints I have: Aegon is not nearly as much of a degenerate in the book at this time in the story. He was never a rapist or a drunk louse. He was a "fun loving" prince just like Viserys was before him. He liked parties, laughing, and making friends. Instead they wanted Joffrey 2.0 so we'd root for Rhaenrya.... Who coincidentally is way more callous, selfish, and egotistical in the books. This is going to cause problems later in the series because the book makes it very clear from the beginning that both candidates for the throne *if isolated* from their relatives would have actually made decent monarchs.

@HussainAl--Khalil2 жыл бұрын
The thing with the pregnancy scenes are that that’s probably how they really went in the real world comparison of it. In the medieval times I’m sure it was hard to have birth as smoothly as they are now. Mortality rate was probably way lower so I took it as a way to address the true reality of giving birth for women and sometimes the child not surviving and others the mother not surviving. As a guy I kind of appreciated it cause it’s something we never go through so we kinda can take it for granted what some. Have to go through when giving birth. That’s why they felt so visceral. Just my take on it.

Best thing about Hot D is that it's going to be all Martin's writing. No Hollywood hacks will have to take over and ruin it. It's in the "past" compared to the main Ice and Fire books and the future is known, so Martin probably has had that down for decades, there is already a lot of information on all reigns and even though he only released the first part of the Targaryen generational story, which contains so much material they can use, it's not a daunting task to release the next one like writing Winds of Winter is being for him. Plus the stories are short and focused, The Dance of the Dragons can be nicely shown in 2 seasons with no need for filler.

That's the first time I've heard someone call it "hod" because, and I know this is childish, but I get a kick out of calling it "hot d." "Why are you so tired today?" "I was up late last night getting in on some hot d. Yeah, I missed it the night before so I had to get it in before I went to bed. Oh, man, it was _so good._ I thought last week's was good but this one blew me away." Dude, I knew Larys Strong was a snake the moment he showed up. He's this show's Littlefinger. He's playing the game but from the shadows. One of the things that people hated about the last season of GOT is how quickly people got from one castle to another. That's when all the "jetpack" memes started. I mean, the queen does say that Storm's End is a short flight away. I think they're very aware of this problem so they will keep dropping hunts that travel is quick when you have a dragon. But I agree. I hope when it is a longer journey, like King's Landing to Winterfell, that it takes a while and we get to see more of the world and its people.

The things they changed from the book were all excellent choices by the show runners. Can’t say the same for GOT but thank god they made all the right decisions in HOD as far as what to add. The final episode with Vhagar disobeying Aemon after the little dragon provokes her is absolute perfection, and a scene made just for the show. The book is not a novel but a history book, so there were no witnesses to what happened in the sky after they left Storms End.
@alexanderforbes1452 Жыл бұрын
I'm okay with the killing of the prince being unintentional and the dragons just getting out of control, but I didn't like the small counsel guy's death being accidental. In the book Cole slits his throat. Like you said it's a history so what actually happened may be different, but I like the idea of it being a deliberate murder, shows how far Cole has come since the beginning. Too many important things being accidents or chance will make it start to feel cheap, I think.
@mrcheesemunch2 жыл бұрын
I was dead certain that I wouldn't like this show and only really watched for "something to watch" but damn it was actually really good. My only real complaints are that the time jumps were a little weird and didn't feel super necessary. And the actors changing with that was also odd, considering most of them stay the same but magically don't age? Why not just use makeup to age-up Rhaenyra? Her original actress is like 30 and they made her look 17ish. As well as that the whole pregnancy thing felt kinda miserable, yeah it's medieval times and infant mortality is high but it felt like basically every episode had someone dying in childbirth or having a stillborn or whatever, at times it felt like some kinda speedrun to kill the most children in one season. That said everything else was fantastic, what a comeback! The dragons looked incredible, they feel so alive. I thought for sure the CG would be really cheap since there's tons of dragons and that's obviously expensive to animate but all the little touches they add, like the tips of wings skimming the water, they just add so much. I actually mostly liked the last season of Game of Thrones, it didn't kill the series for me but at the same time I was fine for it to be over and House of the Dragon completely pulled me back in to the world. Meanwhile Rings of Power, practically every shot looks like it's in a greenscreen room and the plot is slow and boring...ahhh Amazon, well done, you made Lord of the Rings dull. LORD OF THE RINGS.

Alicent is absolutely being manipulated by Otto into thinking Rhaenyra will kill her kids. Its probably not true that Rhaenyra would, but Otto wants power and the only way he can solidify his power is if everyone he sees as a threat is gone. That's why he hates Daemon, because Daemon is a threat to him. He sees Rhaenyra as a threat to him as well because not only does she get him fired from being Hand of the King (even though he was telling the truth), but because if her and her children become the monarchs, there is no way Otto can manipulate them like he did Viserys. He simply will not be able to enjoy the power he has as Hand. On the other hand if Aegon is King, Otto is his grandfather and can easily pull the strings on the Seven Kingdoms behind the scenes, similar to what Tywin did with Joffrey in GoT. And so he manipulates Alicent into paranoia and the idea that her kids are in danger. Therefore she raises her children with the idea that Rhaenyra and her children are their enemies and to press Aegon's claim as king. Even if Rhaenyra is officially the heir, the fact that she is a woman and her kids are essentially bastards means her claim is weak. And the Hightowers can swoop in and take advantage of that.

Game of thrones is about the entire world of westeros. House of the Dragon is about 2 families going to war with eachother and only about their tale. Which I prefer for this series. Having a wide scale story is cool but for this story that they are telling, focusing on a bunch of main characters would detract so hard from the story being told. I'm happy that they decided to focus only on the Targarean family and not a bunch of other characters. Im here for the dance of the dragons, not westeros 100 years before game of thrones.

I think the pacing and timing of this show was terrible. Imagine if episode one of GOT was right when Ed gets his head cut off. It just feels like they are so excited to tell the end of the story that they spent no time telling the beginning or middle. I stopped watching around episode 4/5, because I couldn’t stand the “who’s Rhanera fucking now?” Story line and that the only things you see happen are bad shit. Every scene is life or death, and I think the best part of GOT was showing the good times, the quiet times, and then even in the good, really bad shit can happen. Instead HOTD was just bad thing after bad thing after bad thing, and I never really grew to care about the characters.
