When you pick up your truck in the spring, You should install a battery disconnect switch. They make it easier to secure your vehicle and you don't need wrenches. It's something to look into for the van as well. I would also look into securing the totes to the deck, Simple bolt on hooks you can bolt to the deck and some tie downs will keep them in place, especially while they're empty. Have a great week!

The battery disconnect is a good idea in theory but on a lot of newer vehicles the computers can lose their memory and need to be reprogrammed.kind of a pain in the butt.I am an ASE certified mechanic and do this a lot.Fords seem to be prone to this.They make a little tool with a 9 volt battery that plugs into your cig lighter to help keep the memory when you change your battery.
@Hooner772 жыл бұрын
@@mikeolson4935 Interesting observation. The program in your ECU is in Flash Memory that doesn't need constant power. I had power disconnected on my 2006 F150 for a couple of days with no loss of programing. Another choice would be to use a battery tender while stored.
@mikeolson49352 жыл бұрын
@@Hooner77 Correct.The ones i have issues with seem to be 12 and newer models and mostly with the anti theft.They will start,run,stop.Also some GM and Ford 4x4,they will go into 4 low and not come out.Battery tenders are a great way to keep power up and not overcharge system.

About the “joys” of home ownership…..when I moved into my home, oh so long ago, using my buddy’s van it took only a few hours for us to shift my stuff from my old space into my new house. In the since~stuff accumulated. Of course going from renting to owning….you have to take care of your home. Cut the lawn, rake the leaves, clean gutters & shovel the snow plus the everyday maintenance chores. I always tell new Home owners…..” you think you own the house but, in fact, it owns you”. To a certain extent the simple Van life for the Van Wives is a past tense thing. Cynical? Realistic! You two are amazing. You achieved so much & you deserve to take pride in what you have done. I look forward to further achievements in 2022!

Hi Jazmyn and Cristal, I came across Tyler and Todd's channel a few weeks ago and have been binge watching their videos ever since. It was those that introduced me to you two and prompted me to check out your channel. I have to say, I'm loving it. You two, ably assisted by Bella and Izzy, are a formidable duo - as are the boys along with Charlie, Eddie and Lily. I can see why the four of you are such close friends - you are true kindred spirits of Canadian off-grid life and inspirations to couch-potatoes everywhere. I was seriously impressed at the way you tackled the roofing works - and did an amazing job despite bemoaning the fact that nothing, not even gloves, came in small sizes at the hardware store! I’m looking forward to your van life adventures on the road over the winter - presumably, under present circumstances, all in Canada - but Canada is a big country and there are parts where the winters are less extreme than those of Nova Scotia. I know that you’ll show us some amazing places along the way. Enjoy every moment. I’ll be following you every Sunday and also binge watching all your previous videos to play catch up. Love and peace, stay safe ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 Alan

Good morning gals, I’m not sure if you’ve heard about this trick yet but my neighbor works for the DNR. He told me years ago about putting dryer sheets through my tent trailer to keep rodents out when not in use. I was skeptical but tried it and have been doing it for the last 22 years and it works. I’ve found that the stronger the scent the better it works. Rain can sometimes be a real pain but it’s definitely a blessing and truly the gift of life. I love the way the rain sounds on a metal roof, it’s like the sounds of millions of tiny feet dancing to the rhythm of pounding drums. I just want to thank you both so much for allowing us to come into your life’s. Every Sunday morning one of the first things I do is check for your post and I’m always amazed at what you accomplish . Are you going to spend the winter in your cabin? I also follow Tyler and Todd. The four of you are just incredible young people. The small niches you’ve created in the wild are just amazing and a huge inspiration to both young and old alike. Looking forward to your next post as always. Sending you both lots of warm HUGS & LOVE from Michigan and prayer’s that the good Lord keeps you both healthy and safe and continues to shower you with his abundant blessings.
