Happy Sunday! Are any of you fruit tree owners/orchard owners? If you are and you have any knowledge you’d like to share we are open ears 💛💛 We’re soooooo happy to say the roof is finally done! Is there a part of you that loves the rain too? Rewatching that scene of the rain still makes me happy haha. Hope you’re all having a great weekend and you have an even better week- lots of love from us four 💛 🐾

You guys are right near the valley where alot of the apple orchards are in ns that people all over the maritimes wait for every year! They are so good! I know nothing about orchards but I imagine there's lots of friendly people up there to get some information from 😊
@MD-wk3gj3 жыл бұрын
I’m no expert but having minor apple tree experience I’d suggest nip 1/2 the buds in the spring to reduce the overall crop. It will allow the tree’s energy to go into fewer apples but they will be better and honestly my experience is a tree gives waaaay too many apples for the average person to use so getting less, but larger apples is a win. Maybe test the ideas you get with a few trees and leave some as is and see what you like/learn is best for you.

Ladies, I used to do industrial crinkly tin roofing and can clarify it's so physical and the way you learned from videos 😮. I knew loads who couldn't fix a ridge cap straight or use snips even after months of trying. Well done 👏. You seem to be living my dream, love it 👍🙂

What the hell is "crinkly tin roofing "? It's 5 rib R panel galvalum metal roofing. There's no tin in it, and if it's "crinkly" you better return it cause there's something wrong with it!

Just a suggestion for your new trees. You may want to get some tree wrap and wrap the trunks from the ground up to however high your snow would be. That way, rabbits and mice can’t burrow through the snow and nibble away at the tender bark that still on those young trees. A lesson I learned the hard way LOL. Great progress on your orchard!

I love the Weeping Cyprus. When my old high school Drama teacher passed away the year after I graduated. Looking good ladies! You two remind me of my younger days when I and my ex had 8.5 acres in upstate NY. Working the land, planting gardens, and trees. Harvesting wood, splitting logs for firewood. Good times, and the good kind of body aches, knowing you accomplished what you set out to do. One reminder: Squirrels, raccoons, chipmunks and other critters love, love, love to dig up and eat flower bulbs. So…. To protect them from those little thieves, place fine grid chicken wire over the bulbs before completely burying them. Pick a mesh large enough for the plant to grow through, that will keep your bulbs from being uprooted. 🌟😁

I was thinking about darkness early and I remember that we where working outside on a project that had a deadline so we mounted posts on the gable ends of the building and mounted led flood lights and it lit up the whole area we were working on and because they were controllable so we could even add a dimmer. We put them in as temp lights but the client was so pleased with them he asked us to leave them in and he said it was the best choice he made. Maybe it's something you can consider. I can I just finish by saying how amazing you both are. Lots of love and stay safe J (I hate daylight saving)

The roof looks fantastic, ladies. I have seen supposedly professional installs that weren't as well done. I do have a quibble with your diesel starting procedure, though. The function of the glow plugs is to warm the air in the intake manifold. By waiting 30 seconds after they go off, you lose that warm air, which makes starting the engine more difficult. Start cranking as soon as the light goes out. Your engine will thank you for it! Other than that, you're doing amazing things, and I look forward to seeing what you create.

Great to see the roof completed and all the changes you're still managing. As someone who grew up in a home without electricity for many years and relied on oil lamps, word of warning. Try to keep the flame as low as possible when you first light them up and pop the glass on. The colder the air gets as winter gets going, the higher chance you'll have of the glass cracking because of temperature changes between air temp versus flame temp. Even then be prepared to lose the odd glass for that reason, even if you keep the flame low initially. I'd highly recommend also looking into a reflective background to just pop behind any lamps to help bounce light back. We had (still have in fact even if we only use it if we get a power cut) a Victorian oil lamp that was my Great grandparents that is wall mounted, and it has a reflective piece behind it on the wall side. It makes more of a difference that you might think.

Howdy from South Dakota. We planted some trees two years ago. They were growing so well. Then last night the deer stripped the bark off of both and ripped the top of branches off of one. I cried. We have now put chicken wire around the trunks and my husband is going to attempted to graft the branches on to the trunk. So you may want to protect those trees. We are still trying to figure it out.

Oh to have young energy. Don't ever loose it. I looked at living on the French coast in around Meteghan but for some reason stayed in BC. Nova Scotia still beacons to me. 🌈
