As of right now, you cannot view the Nest Doorbell on Amazon Echo Devices, SmartThings and so on. I will update here with changes and when I have a better idea of the typical battery life.

hey Brett just set mine up but using the talk and listen function i can barely hear myself through the doorbell using my phone any thoughts on how to fix this?? edit the talk and listen volume is at max setting

From what I have tried the best thing to do is to talk through your phone like you are on the phone. That gave the best quality and loudness on the doorbell end.

@@TechWithBrett there is a known bug that the new nest cameras talk-back is not working with any Samsung phones. A lot of Samsung phone users like myself are really pissed.

Little tip. If you turn off outside of zone notifications it massively increases your battery life. I'm getting around 2.5 months currently. Personally I don't need to know every time a car drives down my street, someone walks down the public sidewalk, or an animal runs across my lawn.

Personal experience, functionality when wired offers way quicker response time. When in battery use, the camera sits in idle mode and takes quite a bit longer to bring up camera feed. It also lags when beginning to record when motion is detected. Definitely worth wiring IMO.

if you guys want instant notification, wiring it is the best way to go. the performance is considerably faster, your mobile will get notified sooner, and you will also get instant chime by having a wired one installed.

Just got mine a week ago, it’ll only save the video (event) for 3hours so if something happens at 12:00 you have until 3:00 to go into the app and view what happened. You can always download the video (event) to your phone and that’s free

I sort of missed showing this but you will receive every notification on your phone. So you will be notified if someone presses the doorbell or if it detects a package all depending on what notifications you have set to on.

I have the Google battery doorbell and bought the Google nest mini gen2 speaker and the battery powered doorbell does not ring on the mini gen2 speaker. Was told that the battery version doorbell won't work with the mini gen2 speaker. So took the speaker back. Any recommendations other than using the Google home app on my phone?

Just wanted to ask, have you got a Samsung phone? We have found talking from a Samsung phone to the doorbell has issues, you can't hear who is talking from the phone on the bell (voice is very quiet) plus the person talking at the bell hears a repeat. Happens with 2 Samsung phones we've tested & a Samsung tablet. But works fine with other brands of phones. 🤔

Did it miss any event recording? As long as if the doorbell doesnt miss any event recording then doesnt required 24hour recording. The notification on the phone is poor imo. Is there any way to let it ring like a chime in your phone? For now it just makes a sound of getting a text message, which can be missed easily. My Ring doorbell app did a clear and loud chime sound when somebody pressed the button. Or am I overlooking something? I don’t like having smart speakers in my house, so Nest speakers aren’t an option, I have enough with my phone being able to listen my conversations.

This thing will not work in prolonged winter temperatures. The thing runs off battery EVEN WHEN HARDWIRED, there is no way around the battery, and the battery fails below -10c. It will not charge via doorbell wires, and you have to unhook it and take it inside to charge via USB for at least 5 hours. The battery does not hold its charge in cold weather and will last as little as 1 week. Be warned.

Does the camera give you notifications about things like your own activity? For example, when you leave the house for work in the morning, does it notify you about it? What about when you check the mail? If so, is there a way to adjust these kinds of things so that you ca minimize those things, and really just have it let you know about when folks who don't live there get hear your home?

Great video as always, but you kind of blew by the indoor wiring. Why did you have to open your furnace to hook up a doorbell?

Sorry if that was too quick. Here is how doorbell wiring works: 1. Power starts from the VAC Transformer. This is wired in somewhere and typically is found connected to the furnace or behind the chime. It's purpose is to convert the home voltage from around 120 volts to 10 to 18 volts. The new Nest Doorbell worked with transformers that have Voltage: 8-24VAC. 2. A set of wires then go from the transformer to the Chime. 3. Then another set of wires then go from the Chime to the doorbell. The 2 wires then are connected to the doorbell in any order, giving it constant power. When the doorbell is pressed the two wires connect sending a signal to the chime to chime. So if you currently have a working Doorbell with chime you should have no issue removing the old doorbell and placing this on and it working. If it doesn't work, then you would need to find your transformer making sure it works has the right voltage. If not it would need to be replaced. Hope that helps!

Oh good question. Are there extra strength outdoor command strips? Something like that might work as long as you can get the mount to stick on it. The doorbell won't work without the mount so it is what needs to have a strong connection. My worry is it only lasts for a short time and falls and damages the device.

Yes, once you invite family members into your home in the Google Home app and they accept they should receive the same notifications. You might need to check to see if they have them turned on and if their app has the notification settings on as well.

Sort of. There are 2 things. 1. 3 hours of event history for free. These are only available to be view 3 hours from the time of the event. After that it is not longer saved. 2. Paid Nest Aware event history that stores 30-60 days of events on your account. There is no limit to events stored in those time frames, and the duration depends on what duration you have set events in the app.

If you are drilling into wood, you most likely don't unless you are using old big screw holes. They are mainly used for brick or stucco.

There is a little slot on the top of the nest doorbell you need to press it in to pop the Nest Doorbell off.
