That’s the difference these days is businesses have the “We don’t care if you come back because we will find plenty of others to rip off” attitude. You won’t find too many who are ethical. It’s a shame.

Mechanic shops have always been scammy, but since we live in a low trust society now, you have to expect this kind of behavior to increase.

It's rare to find good customer service these days. The attitude does seem to be to get as much money as you can from them. They don't care about customers saying bad things about them because they know people will come along anyway because they need their goods or service.

I spent nearly as much on repairs to my gentleman's f150 than I paid for a new Pontiac in 1984. All in one service.

Advertise best you can, who/what business does this. You have lots of followers who would spread the word of a scam business. People need aware of these places. Such as that place on the corner of__+__. You have every right to be furious. People appreciate honesty.

I am a plumber from the UK with over 40 years experience and within that time I’ve worked for several different companies.Some of them have been the emergency call out type and let me tell you some of them even went so far as to tell you to find none existent problems so you could change for them and make more money.I would never work that type for longer than possible because it’s just bad practice your right to make sure they don’t have any more of your money

Yep, it's a real shame how customer service is. I thought it flew out the window 15+ years ago & it's even worse now. No one cares...from mechanics to the shoe store. So many businesses, including the mechanic you went to need to go out of business they way they treat customers...OR better yet, be reported to the BBB & be fined.

HI Kevin, You are absolutely right. I do not know anything about mechanics. So I'been relaying on my mechanic for years. I hope he isn't ripping me off! In this world anybody is going to take an advantage of you if you aren't smart enough. Have a wonderful day Kevin. Hi to Bridgette 😘😘

We had an Express Lube that used to be reputable and the owners retired and sold. The new owners put in a crew that added a lot more than oil changes and hounded the customers about it. Word got around fast and they closed in less than a year,,it’s now a car wash place that nobody goes to coz it left a bad taste 👅 in everyone’s mouth

I am fortunate I have two great mechanics one I have used for maybe 15 years and the other for over 30 years. The only reason I have a second mechanic is I moved and I am within walking distant to him so it is a bit easier to drop the car off, because I do not have to arrange to get a ride or wait there until it is done. I do use a couple of other places for things like oil changes sometimes, and such, but every time I have to use another shop or mechanic I am super wary particularly if I have to take it to a chain shop or dealership. Those places are always forcing or encouraging to do up sales. My other mechanics actually have told me on a number of occasions that I did not need to get something done. One time I had a brake problem that a regular shop would have tried to charge me $700 to fix and my mechanic said the float in the master cylinder had just got stuck, but he was able to fix it without replacing the master cylinder. He only charged me like 50 bucks to repair it because it turned out to be a simple repair. Sounds to me like you caught that guy and there was nothing he could really say. Someone who is dishonest enough to actually break a brake like or cut it or pour brake fluid on it to make it look like it was leaking is never going to admit it. Usually when someplace tells me something needs to be done and I am suspicious I will tell them to wait on it and get my mechanic to look at it. If it is something I know needs to be done, I might have them work on it. With a brake leak you really did not have a choice unfortunately. The good thing is you found out he is really dishonest.

I've been ripped off too, especially with auto transmission guys who put metal filings in your gearbox so they can get a rebuild job with $3K of out of me. Customers are not allowed in the workshops due to safety concerns so how can you prove they are bullshitting you or not.
@Mike-su8si7 ай бұрын
And other shops policy are they're not responsible for anything if it gets broke so they can damage whatever and you'll be paying for what they mess up instead of them paying for the damages they create

There's a reason why I'm present when my sister goes to the mechanic. Thankfully I found one I trust so far. One mechanic tried telling me a missfire was caused by a blown engine that had 40k. The one I now go to told me it was a loose distributor. I also helped my dad work on cars growing up. I just don't have the time or patience. I'm a big dude with big hands lol. I should work on my cars more I have no excuses.

very difficult to find honest mechanic since people are so caught up in chasing after money. these mechanics seem to forget their main function as mechanic is to help customers fix their cars. greek philosophies have taught us that society can only be civilized when we function as what is defined by our profession. a doctor for example is suppose to care for the patient not look for ways to make more money from patient. however in the USA, it seems like it is becoming more and more uncivilized. no body care about one another anymore. sometimes when you greet another human being and acknowledge their existence they won’t even acknowledge yours. very rude, disrespectful and sad. i just hope it will get better as we raise awareness about this ignorant behavior.
