But I don't understand need to do in both sides?
@RoxusRemo Жыл бұрын
@@juanojeda8069 You need to do it to both sides to keep the alignment. So in his case, car was drifting right..so need to adjust the toe left.. so he shortened drivers side rod (this pulls the rear of the wheel closer so it turns the whole wheel left and then extend/lengthen the passenger side so it 'pushes' the rear of the wheel which turns the wheel left also.
@microbrientube11 ай бұрын
@@RoxusRemowait I think I see how I fucked up. So “opposite” turn directions, is actually the same, because the rods are pointing opposite directions. So clockwise one side, counterclockwise the other means they both get turned away from you (pushed over) or turned toward you (pulled under) if you’re perpendicular to them

If the rod is ”in front ” of the wheel its the other way around, but thumbs up great explaining it worked !!🤭😁
@BrosFOURRSpeed9 ай бұрын
Yeah just look at which way your threads go and either shorten or lengthen the tie rod end of the desired direction to turn the wheel. I did this on my Supra and everything was the opposite way from the S3

In greece the mechanics are kind of stupid for not knowing this or they are probably trying to scam you... paid 6 times for wheel alighment at an authorized ford dealer for my fiesta to mess this up over and over again.. went to a local mechanic showed him your video and told him to do the exact same thing.. the mechanic tool about an hour of work and finally my fiesta is a straight arrow again.. Thank you does not even come close to how i want to express my gratitude for making this video

Wanted to say thank you! Like you and many others I had an alignment done after having my rack and pinion changed out in my 2012 Toyota Tundra. Like yours my steering wheel was slightly cocked right driving me nuts but not so much i felt like spending half a day at the dealership correcting it. Only difference between my truck and your Audi, much larger tie rods and they were kinda tough to get that nut loose. One small suggestion to others. I started with a half turn as opposed to a full turn. After test driving the steering wheel was cocked the other direction. Jacked the truck back up and reversed it a 1/4 turn and it’s now perfect. 1 full turn is quite a bit depending on the vehicle and how off the steering wheel is. May want to start with a 1/2 turn and go from there. Thanks again, great video!
@BrosFOURRSpeed Жыл бұрын
Glad it worked! Yeah different cars will differ. On my Supra I did about a 1/4th turn to fix it. The Audi just happened to need a full turn. Easy fix tho for sure!
@TimpBizkit4 ай бұрын
I needed 2 full turns on either side the first time. Then after tie rod replacement to pass MOT it was 5/6 of a turn. I did 1 full turn and it was a tiny bit off in the other direction, so sighed, jacked it up and took the wheels off and subtracted 1/6 of a turn.

Yeah it's my OCD no doubt. Hate it too. Unfortunately, I caught a bump hauling ass around a corner yesterday and now my wheel is at almost 1 o'clock with the car headed straight. Doesn't pull or anything so I'll have to try this. THX.

The one on the Fiesta my mum gave me is off more than that. Also I thought you could just unscrew the wheel and move it lol. Either that or it sat on some spline to prevent slippage and I could remove it and move it a couple of teeth and put it back on.
@BrosFOURRSpeedАй бұрын
Hopefully you can get it dialed in!

@@BrosFOURRSpeed Yes it was 2 complete turns of each tie rod on the front! It was a bugger to undo one of them though when had one replaced at the garage it had some nice silvered grease on it. Usually when I get it back from the garage it's about a quarter of a turn off. I could sense it being off down to 1/12 turn so am pretty picky but got it just right now.

hello very good video my steering wheel is a few degrees to the right, the service guys couldn't get the steering wheel straight. I'm going to try your version but I want to be sure I understand correctly. so you have to go to both the right and left wheels, and as you turn the right one way, you turn the other way on the left side for example. did I understand correctly? thanks sorry english i am from romania europe
@BrosFOURRSpeed20 күн бұрын
If your steering wheel is angled to the right. You need to adjust the tie rod ends to pull the wheels both to the right. So one side you need to lengthen the tie rod and the other side you need to shorten it

Do you turn the wrench the same direction when adjusting the tie rod for both sides? Or do you have to do the opposite direction?
@BrosFOURRSpeed Жыл бұрын
It will depend on the threads. Look at the direction they go and determine if you need to expand the tie rod or make it smaller. One side will need to be expanded, the other side will need to be made smaller

I gotta try this I have the same problem. For the driver's side I need it to be going left so I turn it clockwise or anti clockwise. The passenger it clockwise.

Make sure each side gets the opposite turn direction. One side will need to be shortened and the other will need to be lengthened.

Interesting. Are the new tires rods the same length? Might just need more adjustments.
@P80baby21 күн бұрын
And do you leave the steering wheel straight when you start ?? When you turn rotors manually, do the steering wheel turn too ? Or do you suppose to keep steering wheel straight during whole process ??
@BrosFOURRSpeed20 күн бұрын
Just know which way to need to turn the tie rods and you don't need to worry about holding the wheel when doing the adjustment
