With telling the ex you’re engaged, I’m separated and I have children. I have a wonderful co-parenting relationship with their father (my ex). If I were engaged, I would respectfully call my ex to let them know. It’s better it comes from me, than coming from the kids. That’s when the particular scenario makes sense

What Gabriel said about parents buying a gift but treating it as a purchase to have their way - yes yes yes! I feel so grateful to have parents that only give and don't hold it over my head. Also, I did my own flowers the day before. Paid 10% of what flowers would have cost (or less), but it was a stressful. They looked beautiful though!

I think you guys should write a book about weddings. What you regret, what is important, what's not, what you would do and not do if you could go back, and so much more. You guys have so many great ideas, some regrets and you could be very helpful to couples planning their weddings. You would be perfect! Good Luck!

I can relate so much to your conversation about wedding guests. We’re coming up on five years and in that short amount of time we lost contact with quite a few people we thought were our friends at the time, including members of our wedding parties. It’s crazy how things can change so much. - loving the pod so far! 💗

Loved this episode so much! I was nodding my head throughout this whole video. I love how well rounded and the perspective you two have on many topics. It's so refreshing to see people around my age with such great morals and wisdom, because I feel like that's rare nowadays. Some takeaways that I'm happy happened at my wedding: 1) Very intimate (60 people) I was adamant on only having people at my wedding that I actually talk to and am close to and not just inviting them because "they're my 3rd cousin". 2) My mom did all of the florals (which were fake, but looked amazing) and she DIY'd a lot of the décor items. 3) Chose a Sunday wedding and a venue that was actually an event center 5 mins from our house. 4) Got my wedding dress from a non-profit organization that has a wedding dress recycling program (it was a third of the price it normally would cost) and looked like I payed thousands of dollars for it. 5) Chose to have our wedding on our 14 year anniversary, which was just so special. 6) Designed my own invitations and ordered them through a cheaper site to save money. Excited to see you guys have your vow renewals at your 10 year anniversary :)

Hey guys, I love your content. And I have been following you all for years. Since the wedding video. 😚 And I just want to say I feel kind of sad and left out.😔 I know that might sound silly. At the moment I can not justify paying to be a member because the economy is so crazy and I am trying to be wise. And I get it, you all are trying to do something special for your fans. But I can’t help but feel a bit left out. I know you all are excited about your members, and you all are definitely not the only KZbin channel that does this. I guess your channel is the only one I would care to be apart of. Anyways don’t know why I felt the need to share that. Just felt oddly sad. Like I don’t even know you guys haha. But I have been rooting for you through so much of your journey. I’ll still be apart of the best team on the internet the conteam. 😊

This was such a good podcast! I’m getting married in about a month and it was so good to see what other people regret so I don’t do the same. The amount of people seems to come up a lot. We have a wedding of like 11 people and I don’t really feel stressed or concerned about other peoples feelings. We did a wedding shower with a bunch of people like 2 months before the wedding which was like our reception.

My wedding was 2015 and it involved a flower crown, a lace dress and a very rustic vibe which was also very “trendy” but honestly don’t regret it at all. And I made my bouquets and centerpiece with my bridal party and a few family members the day before and it was such a fun time!

I just got married 3 weeks ago so this was a sweet and fun episode to watch!! I'm also a wedding florist (yes I did my own flowers, and yes I did regret it a little because it takes up so much time), but yes get your flowers pressed or have a plan for donating flowers to a nursing home afterwards! It really does stink that most weddings enjoy them for a few hours and then they are thrown away, especially with all the work and money put into them! Just a few ideas :))

Feedback on friends and family tier: Usually when there are tiers to content it’s to post exclusive content but that comes after one’s channel is already fleet. I think a lot of your subscribers would like to see more on this channel before committing to a tier! Since you guys are pretty private(which is totally fine) it’s something even you guys should think/pray about more. Because once you have a discord there are people who would like to interact with you guys outside your social media commitments. So as a subscriber who has been from the time you guys were long distance I have seen you guys have quite seasons, social media breaks, being uncomfortable with sharing too much or sharing on a surface level. This comes from a good place, lots of love!

We had the traditional first dance and then we had a private last dance while everyone was getting ready for our send off! Also, my husband and I paid for our wedding ourselves because we knew my family wouldn’t help but also if they did they would want to control what we did and we didn’t want that. We would hear their suggestions but as soon as it became a demand we reminded them they weren’t paying for it.

Here's a cringe one: my ex's brother married my sister (they met through me), but for my ex's wedding (let's call him Jim) the bride (let's call her Rita) invited my parents & myself to their wedding. My parents did not attend and I went out of town. But when I was getting married years later Rita told my sister she was expecting an invite from me. Why? I did not want J & R at my wedding. We kept our wedding small with closed family & friends. Thanks for sharing your list.

My husband and i were pressured so much into having a wedding party reception etc from both our families . My husband ended up caving in eventually which didnt make it easy for me as he just started a new job in a different country. I was so upset,we ended up having want our families wanted. 10 years later it still upsets me. i enjoyed absolutely nothing about that day even if i try thinking about a positives. Our marriage is great, just that day was something neither of us truly wanted. Dont let your families bully you into doing something you dont want. Whether you want a party or not let it be yours and your partners decision.

At my friend’s wedding, the bride and groom basically were in the corner while they enjoyed their food but did very few pictures! I got a quick picture and that’s all I got from him the rest of his wedding haha. But fair, because he wanted to enjoy his wife. Their first dance was a few second and then everyone joined. And he also put a “see how well you know me” crossword on the table and whoever got it completed first got first cake! I made sure I won😂

What I love about my family is that my grandparents asked us how much we spent on the dress and then after we told them, handed us cash and told us they would like to pay for it. That was the best gift, because while we didn't splurge on my dress it was around 2k which is A LOT of money and they gave us that gift without ever seeing the dress until our wedding day ♥️

In my culture, it is the m.o.b and bridesmaids job to pack up the cake and food for the bride and groom so that they can have it after. Food (most times meats) would stay frozen until after the honeymoon, so when the bride comes back, she doesn't have to cook for up to a week after the honeymoon. The cake is secured for the bride to cut up and give away (to whom she chooses) after, too. It's tradition/superstition to not just let any and everybody part take of the cake.

I had someone be my videographer that was also one of my best friends at the time. I regret having her there, but I wouldn’t have my gorgeous wedding video without it was kind of a catch 22. She was going to be my maid of honor, but I decided last minute that another one of my best friends is going to be my maid of honor. She and I have since ended things as well too. So I feel like I should’ve had more family instead of friends. Because I haven’t had any falling outs with any of my family members that were there. I trusted them so so deeply! I was very very happy with who walked me down the aisle, though. It was my brother that I hadn’t spoken to in nine years prior to the ceremony. He showed up and asked me if it was OK that he walked me down the aisle. I said yes I would love that and he wore our dad’s hat, technically his step dad but he was more of a dad than his own dad! It’s my favorite part of my day, besides being able to finally marry the love of my life💖

Definitely the ceremony is for you the reception for your guests. As for your flowers great idea. I had gone & bought paper made flowers & put them on a frame hanging in my kitchen. The cake definitely is a tradition where ppl freeze it & eat it the following year but yeah. Surprised no one cut your cake & gave it for you to take home. Also think the bridesmaids thing could do with money because really fancy ppl go on big trips like las vegas for the bachelorette etc and can’t afford or the dress or personal hair color clash etc could be a major problem or reason for fall out of friendships. Such a good point that its not a gift if there are strings attached and then holding that over their child. So good! This happened from both sides of my family, my own mom being like u need to include me in your plans as i am the mother of the bride while the mil basically buildozed every decision for catering since she did the flowers and flower arrangements 😂😢 I definitely think out of all the wedding things, deciding who should be invited and fam saying this person should be invited because im friends with them but not even being close to the actual couple getting married, such a common stress problem. Also that last point.. i think weddings get pricey real quick and again the wedding is for other ppl and honeymoon is for the couple but at the same time if you dont have anything, you might regret it bcuz you don’t have a visual representation of the day since you elope.

In the process of wedding planning here and oh my gosh it’s still ages away in June next year but it’s already been stressful. Picking a venue was trouble and now onto everything else now that the venue is confirmed. It’s really tough because to have this nice wedding I need financial help from my dad and my in laws. My dad is very easy, my in laws however not so much. Everyone says the day is for us but realistically the wedding is a family get together 😭 I know people will come for me but we’re the first kids, grandkids, niece, nephew, etc to get married on both sides of the family. So both sides of our family have been pestering us about a wedding. I guess does anyone have any tips to be excited about the wedding? I feel like I’m not excited because I’m stressing about money the whole time.

Laughing so hard at this one, you guys are so funny 🤣🤣 Also yes I totally agree about the size thing, I just got married in May and I remember my biggest thing was not to invite everyone we know, we ended up having around 180 which is still a lot but that was after a huge cut in our list LOL

I’m in the process of planning the wedding. What I know is that “we will be selfish”. Our day. Our money. Our love. Open to suggestions, but ultimately the decision is ours (well mine, my fiancé doesn’t really care 😂)

If you wanna be selfish, do yourselves a favour and elope! We had a small wedding of about 20 people and things didn't go as planned. We still wish we had eloped 5 years later. Good luck planning and congrats!

Some really nice points but I think the video could've had a better title.. something like "Things we would've done differently at our wedding" cos it doesn't seem like you'll have the emotion of hate towards your wedding. Even if the title was for clickbait reasons, you'll don't need to do that. We love you guys for who you'll are and that's why we watch your content and you'll know that! God has blessed you'll abundantly! ❣🤍

Ive never been to a wedding so i have no idea but the point you made about the first dance and just having a dance for the couple thats intimate and not awkwardly long in front of everyone,, would it be possible to plan that for like after all the guests leave you just stay and have a 'last dance' thats for you and intimate???

Ok when you said the first dance alone I was thinking it could be cute for people that do a first look and then have a moment to dance. And have that recorded.

Omg how do you not eat at your wedding? 😭 I totally agree with the wedding being all about the guests when in reality the couple should be catered to! Smaller, intimate weddings are definitely the go to.

I used my aunts old cam corder at my wedding because we couldn’t afford a videographer and I can not recommend that enough. Was a great alternative!

I wish I had eloped. 🙈 My mom stressed me out so much that I ended up canceling my “real” wedding and just having my and my husbands immediate family there anyway. My mom was so critical and unhelpful and tore down every idea I had until I had nothing left. I was only 18 at the time and didn’t know how to stand up for myself. Ended up with no flowers, a kind of gross cake, and none of my friends there. And my husbands family didn’t support the marriage at the time. 😬🫠 Now over 7 years (happily married with 2 kids!) later, I would have just eloped on a mountain with gorgeous flowers and a delicious cake and an expensive photographer. That would have been a much better experience and really encapsulated who my husband and I are as people. Regardless, I married the boy and I’m glad I did. So the day was still a success. 🥰

when gabriel said "I'm not a stand up comedian" I immediately wished I was there in that moment to say because you're sitting down. I wish Jess chimed in and said something along the lines of him sitting cuz that would be so them to be punny!
