Man if you check out their interview with Rhykker. Everything they say about their stance on ARPGs is what I've been saying for years on the Diablo forums. They literally did all the things I was asking for. Also he mentions monster hunter so often as an inspiration they can only be based.

This game does feel quite unique and interesting, I always wanted an ARPG that has more methodical and deliberate combat instead of the screen-wiping spell/skill spam that most ARPGs devolve into at higher levels and endgame (where the fun comes from the process of creating the ultimate killing machine build rather than using it).

I think there are more weapon types than big sword, sword, dagger etc. I am certain there are more than one type of one handed sword. So, I guess it is more like big sword A, big sword B, one handen mace A, B, C... etc. and all of them has their own attack runes. There are also unique weapons but I am not sure they have their own seperate rune attacks.

I'm stoked, but I have my reservations about it being an early access game. But the devs did say they've been working on it for years now, so hopefully the early access release next month will have a good chunk of content to experience

This looks to be a great game. I'm looking forward to playing this because of the unique gameplay as opposed to other ARPGs. From what I saw in the demos it seems like your class will be determined by what loot drops you get. I saw Cowboy play one way, then at the end of his play through he got a weapon he wanted to use, but wasn't spec'd for. So I agree with you, we need to be able to respec when we find the gear we want.

Also, i the devs said they had to do work on hundreds/thousands of attack animations. I imagine the weapons are quite varied. I hope so, at least. Maybe i misinterpreted the interview.

You have to commit to each attack? Does that mean there will be no animation cancel once it's triggered? If so, wouldn't that hinder the combat experience? Idk, but for me having an animation cancel midway an attack increases versatility. We'll see

this game is awesome and i cant believe im saying this but im more exited for this then im for PoE2 the issue with controllers when it comes to ARPG games is with area of effect skills (drop a meteor, fire wall, volcano etc.) you just cant aim them or aiming them is too slow/imprecise other then that yes controller movement is superiors coz it gives you full 360 degree directional control while WASD is 8 directions now as far as No Rest for the Wicked is concerned i dont think this issue will be present in the game as it is strongly focused on melee and this type of skills probably will not take a significant part of the combat system as it does in other ARPGs

God i agree so hard on wasd being superior. The only reason modern arpgs get away with it, is because you only have to move to dodge infrequent oneshot mechanics.

Originally I thought it would be a souls like with and isometric view but after watching the video I'm leaning more towards ARPG with souls like elements. I'm excited either way.

It's actually more ARPG than souls. It has those grindy base-building elements centered around Sacrament city. Only combat seems to be soulslike.

I disagree about respecing. Limited respecs allows for more character diversity, and it gives you more reason to start new characters rather than just changing your build anytime you want. If you are going to respec your character, you need to make sure of what you are doing as it is an important decision. That's one thing I disliked about Wo Long.

Thought this looked really good, but Dark Souls and ARPG don’t fit together in my mind. One is very thoughtful attacks, and the other is power fantasy taking out 50 enemies in seconds. I’ll check it out, but idk

I really hope Soulslikes stop pushing more and more towards delayed attacks. They are unimmersive and annoying when used too much and incorrectly.

@francistein8409 Never said they were. DS3 did delays, right. They used them sparingly, and the bosses didn't hold them out for serveral second at a time. This was a Lies of P, and to an extent, Elden Ring complaint. I don't like Hack n Slash games much anyway. So it's far from "my" type of game. I don't like God of War and Diablo combat as much as Souls combat tyvm.

You attack the player you know nothing about instead of adding to the discussion. When did I say anything about them being too hard to deal with?
