When Novak is motivated, he can still beat anyone out there. Insane. Its like a mental switch that he can flip if he is hungry enough. I would imagine its difficult staying motivated when your two greatest rivals are retired/close to retiring, and you have accomplished everything there is in tennis. Having to re adjust to new competition is probably not something he wants to prioritize at this stage of his life. But who knows, the challenge from Sinner and Alcaraz might re ignite him enough to continue for the foreseeable future.

The final had two of the best sets of tennis I have seen in a very long time on clay. Novak was on fire, Carlos was fighting. As someone else said, a dialled in Novak at 37 is still the best in the world. I love Carlos’s play, especially impressive was him giving back Novak’s first serve the chair umpire was about to gift to him wrongly (and Novak’s acknowledgement). A true gentleman. I believe Carlos is capable of a career golden slam for sure. Oh and as a Brit - I was in tears over Andy and Dan - Sir Andy you are an inspiration 46 titles, including 14 Masters, 2 Olympic singles Golds and 3 Slams in the era of the big 3.

I'm tired of the rhetoric around bathroom breaks already. I don't care if some players use it advantageously, because at the same time players are humans and both are entitled to use the toilet when they need to. Matches are sometimes very long and some people need to pee every 2-3 hours. Why don't we just make a rule about how long you can be in the bathroom until someone calls a medic and put this stupidity to rest once and for all?
@a_l_e_k_sandra4 ай бұрын
There is a time limit for how long the toilet break can take. Everyone goes, not everyone gets press coverage when they do. This is not a conversation for anyone with a brain cell.

Please do make that video on how to make doubles great again! If you play tennis at the rec level or in teams you spend so much of your time on doubles. Wouldn’t it be great if that were more reflected at the pro level? Seeing an all specialist final at the Olympics was a great reminder of how pure skill is valuable but teamwork is more important in doubles. That said I love seeing the singles stars play doubles and get really challenged in a new discipline.

As for Doubles i feel there have been improvements. The fact that many Masters Series events now go over 10 days allows more singles players to take part because of the more relaxed schedule. That way singles players can beef up their doubles rankings but do not necessary take spots away from doubles specialists at the smaller tournaments. Also, Tennis TV enables avid fans to watch doubles because of the multiple court views - though that money doesn't go to the players :( The Olympics were also great advertisement for doubles. And who knows maybe the whole pickleball / Padel craze makes casual tennis viewers more interested in doubles too.
