Creed II, the second Michael B. Jordan film in the Rocky franchise, is pretty darn good. Since the third one is coming out soon, we thought we'd go count the sins of part 2.
Thursday: sports sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we count next?

One thing I really liked about Creed II is how it made Ivan and Viktor Drago three-dimensional and sympathetic antagonists. And the boxing matches were really well done. The theater where I was watching REALLY got into it, complete with loud cheering.

For sure. They could have made them stereotypical villains like they did with Ivan in Rocky IV, but they didn't, and the movie is so much better for it. I especially love the facial expressions in the second fight, all culminating in Ivan throwing in the towel to protect his son. Then he even hugs his son and sticks with him instead of abandoning him like everyone else and like everyone abandoning him all those years ago.

Yep. Again turning a villain into a human, because Americans will not accept that some people (e.g. millionaires, politicians) are narcissistic sociopaths, and they want to believe that they are really softeys under it all. No. Some people are psychopaths, and nothing will change that. It is a PHYSICAL condition, and there is no cure. I'm looking at you Donald Trump, er, I mean Darth Vader.

Tessa F*cking Thompson, indeed. I get the need for a short version of "I Will Go To War" in the movie, but I'd add a sin for the soundtrack not having a full length version.

nahthe biggest sin of this movie was cutting that deleted scene after the final fight with Adonis and Viktor in the locker room, and then Adonis looking Ivan in the eye and wordlessly forgiving him for killing his dad.

All I wanted was a damn cameo, and MBJ couldn't give us that. I mean, he PRODUCED the damn movie! **SPOILERS** Mary Anne's funeral would have been a great opportunity to show Rocky comforting Adonis, as he knew Mary Anne for a long time and likely would have wanted to come. Another idea was to show a clip at the end of Rocky watching Adonis fight Damian on TV with Robert and his grandson. Pan the camera over the back of a lay-z boy chair, then pan around to his face and have him say "you did good kid".
@gnranger

@@nahor88 Dude, it’s not MBJ’s fault. Sly is mad at Irwin Winkler and his son David over the rights to the Rocky franchise. Winkler made him give up the rights to Rocky before Rocky I if Sly ever wanted to cast as Rocky(Winkler did this to Sly at a time when he was deep in poverty). Sly has only ever made his cut of the movie profits if he’s in them, he doesn’t get anything else from the whole franchise he created. So he’s said he won’t be in any other Creed/Rocky movies if Irwin and David are involved or he gets some of the rights, which he wants for his children when he passes.
