@@ce.ce. Yep, that makes sense, because, of course, god couldn't just tell _us_ to rest a day or two every week, while saying, "Of course I don't need to, because I am, after all, god". However, _God&Son_ seem more like incompetent builders. So the father shows up, spends 6 and a half days on just 0.000,000,000,000,000,000,000,0001% of the entire project, and then throws the rest together in a morning. He erects a couple of really important artefacts* in a garden, which no one is supposed to touch, but he leaves them right in the middle, with NO barriers around them, and not even a "Do Not Touch" sign, just a warning to a couple of kids (who are only a few days old) to not eat the fruit, and then leaves (probably for _yet another_ tea break) without even checking the area for loose serpents. The kids, naturally, eat the fruit, and then he comes back and has a moan at them, before throwing them out of the nice bit of the garden and into the really shitty bit where he left all the left over debris from his shoddy, shoddy workmanship (Ted)! Then he buggers off for a couple of millennia, comes back only to flood the place, goes off again, but sends his son round a couple of millennia later. His son is _supposed_ to be a carpenter, but seems to spend more time talking, eating bread and fish and asking if anyone wants any more wine than actually doing any actual carpentry. He proves so incompetent that he somehow gets _nailed_ to a piece of wood (probably because he was pissed on all that wine he so carelessly throws around), but he does say that he'll come back while the people he's talking to are still alive, to fix the mess him and his dad left! Does he come back when he said he would? Does ANY builder or carpenter? Of course he bloody doesn't! But he does leave a message with a someone, saying that he'll be back in about 1700 years. He fails to turn up! A few years after that and he leaves another message saying he'll be back round a bit later, but he STILL fails to turn up. And so it goes on. There are even people now claiming that it won't be long now, but I'll believe it when I see it. *I say "artefacts" rather than "trees" because trees not only grow on their own, rather than being created, but they don't bear magic fruit (I would like to be proved wrong, so if anyone can produce a tree that bears magic fruit, please let me know, and NO, saying that if you eat this fruit you will notice when you're naked just won't cut it).

Why does ‘god’ focus on PURE GOLD. Why does that matter to a god that supposedly could crate gold out of thin air? It doesn’t matter because all those words are OBVIOUSLY written by a man who is trying to impress other men with talks of pure gold. It’s obvious he’s appealing to their materialistic wants and certainly not any spiritual ones. You hear about gold a lot in the Bible. Why? It’s meaningless unless it’s to manipulate people with greed. This is reason number 3,265,813 why the Bible has nothing to do with any god. The Bible was written almost entirely by anonymous men and MEN ONLY. Women had zero rights and the Bible specifically says men shall dominate women. And even in the commandments women are talked about as property, like goats, chickens and asses. Remember the commandment about not coveting? But wait! Coveting is what capitalism is based on. Capitalism cannot exist without everyone coveting. So how can republicans call themselves ‘Christians’ and be capitalists at the same time? They can’t. They’re all hypocrites. All of them. @@tangerinetangerine4400 For the most part. Sometimes the authors promoted the belief in El as the highest god (El Elyon) and Yahweh was his local representative. That is, as you say, consistent with genial Canaanite beliefs (ethically and linguistically, the Israelites were primarily a branch of Canaanites) Dr Kipp Davis points out that the Dead Sea Scrolls version of Deuteronomy 32:8-12 clarifies that El Elyon was the chief god and Yahweh one of his underlings. The current biblical text doesn’t make sense, since the term Israel is used as if it means all people as opposed to Jacob, who represents the Jews. Jacob was Israel. Starting 22:18 in video kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWPGhX2ZjtaoaMU “When El Elyon apportioned the nations, when he divided the sons of Adam, he fixed the boundaries of the people according to the numbers of the sons of the gods (not Israel). Thus Yahweh’s portion is his people Jacob, the region of his hereditary property.” So El Elyon divvied up the land and Jacob’s people got Yahweh’s territory.

@@scienceexplains302 That's really interesting about Yahweh as a local rep. I also get a sense that when other gods are mentioned that their (non) existence wasn't an issue, but their inferiority. So maybe monolatry rather than monotheism. But it makes sense that monolatry (and eventually monotheism) evolved from polytheism. Then there's trinity.

The author of Exo 31 understood (believed) the Creation to have taken 6 literal days: Exodus 31:17 (Observation of the Sabbath) will be a sign between me (Yahweh) and the Israelites forever, for in six days Yahweh made the skies (“heavens”) and the land (“earth”), and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed. The Sabbath is the seventh day - a literal day. (Edit after 8 comments: I am writing to correct apologists who try to change the meaning of Genesis in order to falsely harmonize it with science. I do not believe any gods exist or that any biblical account of creation is accurate. Edit 2: Exodus and Genesis were probably both written post Babylonian Exile. @O.P.: The questions being asked on channels such as this are: - What was the intent of those ancient authors? Were they preserving history, sharing values through story, or something else? - If history, then can we corroborate with evidence through archeology and independent attestation? So far, the evidence does not support the assertions. - Should we rely on these ancient works as demonstrations of good moral and ethical values? From this channel's plain text reading, this assertion is also highly questionable. - We also explore the motivations of the participants. For example, is one seeking truth based on demonstrable evidence (the intended purpose of science, ie. in the name of your KZbin account), or is one seeking to advocate for one's preferred conclusion. The latter is known as "confirmation bias" and is something we should all strive to avoid if we genuinely want to discover truth.

We all know what was going on at the bottom of that big hill. The people were concerned when Moses was gone so long and thinking their holy leader would not return, they sought another god to help them. So Aaron collected their gold and had a golden calf cast so they could worship it. It was then Moses arrived back and seeing his people sinning he took those stone tablets carved by the finger of god, and not thinking how precious and unique they were, smashed them into pieces. Talk about a hissy fit! The people were then punished when Moses ground the golden calf into dust and made them eat it, but Aaron the brother of Moses? Well he pretty well got off scott-free.
