A lot of the sins in this are to do with “how could they have done X, if Y character never entered the game?” But that’s literally the point, they couldn’t have. All the characters jumping into the body-switch water at the same time isn't a sin. It was clearly shown that after being in the water, characters only switch when they touch. If you want to argue that it would have been hard for them to avoid accidentally touching while in the water, that might be valid, but it wasn't just a random mechanic that conveniently gave them what they wanted. They jumped in the water and then chose who to swap with.

More sins: -The whole point of this franchise is that the game forces people to play and indirectly teaches each and every one of them a life lesson. Spencer, having learned to have more self-confidence, *willingly* goes back to the game. The 4 of them have to go through another adventure, even though they don't have to learn anything, so I'm not sure why the game is allowing them to play. -Eddie & Milo find the time to talk about their issues while walking, driving and riding animals. They even stop at one point to have a confrontation. So... how come nobody has a proper talk with Spencer about his decision until the climax? When that finally happens, a straightforward conversation with Martha is all it takes to open his eyes. Unlike the previous 2 movies, this feels like it could've easily happened in the real world without any supernatural intervention. When they leave the game, his friends don't seem to be mad at Spencer, even though they're entitled to. -Even a horse can be an avatar? How could it work as a playable character? -Alex, after spending 20 years trapped in the game doesn't even hesitate when asked to go back? -Remember that Bethany liked Alex and she got over it a little too fast to be believable? Here, there are opportunities to show that crush again, but it's not even alluded. Not even when she's a horse and he literally rides her. -Bethany goes to Alex's house in the middle of the night and he lets her in. Doesn't Alex's wife have any questions? How does Alex explain how he and Madison know each other? -Why does the villain have a stats menu despite not being an avatar? -Why would the game have an ostrich run towards the heroes like it knew they were there, stop and stand still? Mouse says that ostriches will attack if they feel threatened. You don't need to be an expert to figure that out. Anyway, what if you don't do anything to the ostrich? It seems like the game expects you to do something. -At the end, why don't they destroy the game to make sure this doesn't happen again?

@@iku_1013 in escape from Tarkov, you have limb damage, combined with damage type, such as bleeding, fractured bone, etc. Which can lead to limping, or being unable to aim. In arma, you limp if your legs are damaged. Same happens in fallout (which is now Bethesda) In EYE: Divine Cybermancy, your legs can be damaged and result in limping
@bertrandsalaun37214 жыл бұрын
@@iku_1013 I think the RPG maker engine allows for a character speed debuff which you can anchor to whatever reason you want. Quite an amount of games actually do have the idea, even one from the 90's, or Stalker, in example. Not to be rude, but there are a couple of known titles, and varied games which exist for some time, and do have such mechanisms. Which is why I personally call Cinema Sins out on that laziness: if they want to sin, fine, but do it right, at least.

Plus the game is angry with Spencer, Fridge, Martha, Bethany and Alex for beating it and trying to destroy it, that’s why it made Ming Fleetfoot because it knew Spencer was fixing it so he could enjoy being Bravestone again so it made Ming to have all of the traits Spencer hates about himself. The game is a sick and twisted individual that wants people to suffer
@NuminorTheFool4 жыл бұрын
I've never seen it that way, if anything Jumanji wants people to win as it lets them grow as people. Which to me is why it didn't originally take Bethany she didn't have any more growing to do because she was happy with her life, the others had all fallen into needing to be picked up again.
@mrcritical67514 жыл бұрын
One flaw in your theory, the game tried to get them to play again at the end of Welcome To The Jungle when they had learned their lesson already, the game didn’t take Bethany at first in The Next Level because it wanted her to get Alex because it was pissed off. Jumanji and Zathura aren’t trying to teach people shit they’re just vindictive and evil beings that want to hurt people and trap them in the game for all eternity
@thefanwithoutaface81054 жыл бұрын
@@NuminorTheFool If that's true why take Alex, he'd long since learned his lesson and had nothing to gain from the game except helping his friends. And he had more to lose if he died. Yes the characters do learn lessons in the end but that's something they do on their own, the game isn't trying to teach them a lesson.
@NuminorTheFool4 жыл бұрын
@@thefanwithoutaface8105 because the game knew it needed them then. To have them pull together again once they'd gotten past the initial learning and growing they needed to do. The Jumanji is evil theory also falls apart when you consider that it legit reverses back to a state just before you play the game. If it was completely evil it would just leave everything as is. Still we'll have to wait until the next film to find out which theory is right and it will focus on Jumanji's origin (I'm guessing it was originally made as a test for a tribe in the Congo) and explain why the main villain of Next Level was a forgotten player.

I think the game changes when more people enter. Cyclone the horse might be a NPC if he didn't have a player. Same for Ming Fleetfoot. The reason the guy before got trapped for 20 years was because he couldn't do it alone. But with 4 they could. A bigger question is. There is clearly a living world there. With people. So the player characters might be alive when not used. What about them when used by players. We are wandering into ReBoot territory here, lol. Ultimately it's a game that loves to torment the people who play it. With worlds. It's a connection to world's. It doesn't want to teach anything. It's just a sadistic game. And there's living people in the world's it uses to torment the players. They seem to have forgotten that.

@@seanhartnett79 In the film Alex talks about going shopping. He lived there for 20 years. And in Jumanji, Alan got trapped there for 20 to 30 years. Pursued by Van Pelt The Hunter. It's a living world/s The people stuck there have to survive there. Some in different levels. Alan was scavenging everything and hunting. Alex was better off. But still had problems and lived in Alan's old house. Hopefully they aren't sending the actual people out when players come in, and it's a copy made in their place, and the real one isn't controlled. This game also has questionable freewill. In video games, you have the illusion of free will, but you have certain laws that the game controls you with. There is a script and the only way to beat the game is to follow it. When you enter the game, it knows what will happen.

Pretty much, all the sins about the game console were stupid. 1. You could see the cartridge popping out of the console at the end of the last movie so it’s totally reasonable it sustained the amount of damage we see in this movie, 2. The drum timing makes sense as the game likes to mess with people so having Martha worry where Spencer is then start the drums makes sense for it’s character, 3. The game is sentient and it’s pissed off with them, that’s why it left Bethany in the real world as it knew she’d get Alex and it could get revenge on him too, 4. It’s heavily implied you can beat the game with just one character in the last movie as Alex says he waited a few days and was able to start level 4 without Ruby Roundhouse there, you can beat it alone it’s just really hard and takes a long time
