It was mentioned in the movie that Rasul gave Katie a black eye so it was actually explained at one point. She fell for his story and was in a relationship or something with him but then he turned out to be an abusive asshole. He probably wouldn't accept her wanting to break it off (or she was scared to tell him herself since he was being abusive and had a gang and such) and wouldn't leave her alone so she was scared and needed assistance. Whether or not you agree with her calling Kick-Ass over the police it still was mentioned so I don't know if that deserved a sin or not >_>

Infrared is how night vision works. Technically, that part was accurate.
@OmniscientWarrior9 жыл бұрын
KatastropheTRΛP Not technically. Night vision does use the spectrum of light that does blend into infrared range, but it doesn't see it. It uses the higher light range to see what the ambient light bounces off of by amplifying it then changing the spectrum to what we can see. Where infrared light is light that is generated by heat. Kinda like how blacklights emit light in the uv range, but we only see the light that is reflected from it, or what light that it emits from the source at the lower range that our eyes can see. Yet in reality, we can't see uv light, even when it is reflected. Science is a strange bird.

Okay class, pay attention; this is all going to be on the test later (those of you who hate reading can just read the first and last paragraph). A lot of people classify "Kick-Ass" as a superhero parody. This is not strictly correct. Parody is an imitative work created to mock, comment on, or trivialize an original work, its subject, author, style, or some other target, by means of satiric or ironic imitation. Even if you're one of the people who believe that "Kick-Ass" is a straight-up ripoff of the Argentinian comic book "Doméstico" (which, for the record, I am not), it would fall more under the category of Pastiche (a work that celebrates rather than mocks the work it imitates). So what exactly IS "Kick-Ass" if not Parody? It is a Deconstruction of the super hero genre. Deconstruction, in a nutshell, is a literary theory that aims to take apart a work so as to better understand its meaning and relevance to us in real life. The simplest and most common method of applying Deconstruction to tropes (literary conventions and devices used to tell the story) in fiction among general audiences and fan bases takes the form of questioning "How would this trope play out with real life consequences applied to it?" And that is EXACTLY what the comic does: Kick-Ass is just your average, ordinary guy who decides to put on a costume and fight crime for no other reason than he's bored with his existence. He no powers or relevant skills, he loses almost every major fight he gets in without more experienced help, and no part of his life is really improved by doing this. Big Daddy is just a crazy asshole with an average background who raised his daughter to be just as crazy as he is, and her attempts to interact with her peers in later comics do a good job of showing the social retardation that would come from such an upbringing. Red Mist is a borderline-retarded loser who only manages to be dangerous because he's rich enough to hire skilled muscle and has a sociopathic lack of morals or boundaries. Now some of you are probably saying, "But the movie is a lot different from the comics! It's too much like a normal comic book movie to be a Deconstruction!" And you're absolutely right. The movies based upon the comics are not Deconstruction, but Reconstruction. Reconstruction, as you can probably tell from the name, is all about accepting the criticisms of the initial work made by a Deconstruction and then modifies it into something that would resemble the original work, but still work in reality. In the film, Kick-Ass is a good-hearted person who wants to help others, trains himself, and learns from his experiences as a super hero. Big Daddy was an actual cop who could realistically gain access to the materials needed to train himself and his daughter to their level. Red Mist's motivations are more complex, and his degeneration into the Mother Fucker is realistic and interesting. In short, the comic is a Deconstruction (applying more realistic-world causality to an idea), the movie is a Reconstruction (applying the lessons learned from Deconstruction to help improve a concept).

Ah, Deconstruction is an anti-Idealist philosophy of language from Derrida that denies intrinsic meaning and absolute or pure presence. It's a process demonstrating how any concept must be comprehended linguistically and in the context of opposition. Saying a movie is Deconstruction is like saying a book is exegesis. You wrote a big long post and only achieved to demonstrate you have no idea what you're talking about. Ah, bravo?

Maria Grazia Galati It's exaggerated because if he only took the real sins the video would seem too serious. They make these for entertainment. UH, "the HUD says Infrared :enabled, but this is clearly nightvision." Really? You obviously don't know how Nightvision goggles work. "nightvision" equipment gathers infrared light for the display. the "Infrared:Enabled" means the LED Infrared light source is on, providing an infrared light for indoor use where there is very little infrared light with the lights off.
@steeltoe05510 жыл бұрын
I caught this one too. Infrared can be used in night vision equipment as well as thermal imaging devices. I wouldn't go as far to judge that the author doesn't know what he's talking about so quickly. These goggles would likely have the capability for both settings. For it to simply read Infrared:Enabled is confusing. Each of you have already interpreted it differently; neither are incorrect either.
@andrewking259010 жыл бұрын
Excuse me?....thermal imaging devices are too bulky for goggles...they are used in tanks and aircraft and maybe ships...mostly for targeting a heat signature to fire on.. Goggles are strictly nightvision. as they are used for seeing in the dark. Hence the Infrared:Enabled. Thermal Imaging devices don't have Infrared:Enabled because they don't have an infrared lightsource to provide illumination as they rely on Thermal Infrared to function. Being ex-military, i have used both, nightvision goggles and the thermal targeting in a tank in Desert Storm. as well as the nightvision attachment in the tank driver seat for driving at night. thank god it was padded, i would have had a bruised forehead pretty quick.

I'm aware that the specific infrared radiation required to produce a thermal image is ambient in anything retaining thermal energy. I'm under the impression that includes the majority of everything. So I'm in agreement that a source isn't necessary. I believe you're impractical argument is falling off base here. Thermal optic equipment designed for use by an individual in the form of goggles do exist. Amusingly for the discount price of $5,000 I'd have a pair at my door. They're out there I can assure. Certainly they compare to very oversized binoculars, but I don't imagine it's too far a stretch of fiction to allow for a sweet pair of super compact sport contour lightweight multifunction super (again) spy goggles. Now the point I was making, that I'm going to outline shortly, which I intended to have the most attention. Clearly most important for me to send out to one another. That I feel has fallen on deaf ears on it's own. Is as follows; you need to lighten up man! Take a minute or so to review and reread yourself. If I may suggest you examine how quickly, ruthlessly, and with conviction you've called out the intelligence of someone you've never met. Lastly though I'm not judging you for being who you are. If you're everything you want or expect to be and are comfortable that way. Who am I to tell you otherwise. I'm a dreamer though and I'd love to see less judgment in our world. So very clearly way off topic I know just two bits and I'm finished. 1. It should be painfully clear the irony of calling out against judging one another, while on the Internet. 2. C Jasso in my defense. Crystal Meth and a whole lot of all the time in the world. If you know, you'd understand.

For those who don't understand the Marv notation at the start of the film, Marv is actually Marvel. The original comic "Kick-Ass" was published by Marvel Comics under the company's Icon imprint. So, basically, this film is a Marvel Comics movie, but not based in any of the pre-existing Marvel Comics properties. And since the film is R-Rated they can't very well put their name to it, so they ended up just using Marv for short, so to avoid confusing people going to see the movie and not mistaking it as a part of their Marvel Cinematic movies (i.e. Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, etc).

Guys night vision can see infrared light, it's used to enhance illumination or point in a direction (ir laser). If there isn't enough moon light to be amplified, an infrared red light source is used to illuminate, works like a flash light but only visible through NODs. Infrared is used in both night vision and thermal imaging as an aid to enhance visibility.
