When a movie is 3 hours and 20 minutes long (extended version), you KNOW there are sins. It's just a matter of whether or not you'll kill yourself before you finish finding them. In this case, we live to sin another day.
Tweet us if you want. We Tweet stuff. Tweet. / cinemasins
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we recount next? Call the hotline to narrate your own sins: 405-459-SINN(7466)
Thursday: Another monster movie. This one, thankfully, much shorter in length. Probably still tons of sins though. AND a bonus round, so... we got that going for us. Merch: teespring.com/stores/cinemasi...

I dont care what movie it is no matter how much the budget is, no matter how much time is put into it, there will always be jelous haters who think they know about movies. It amazes me in todays time that we have so little things to do that we have to sit around and talk shit about movies as if we could do any better. Sharknado made more money thank you ever will and that we a very low budget movie, but thats what it is A MOVIE its for entertainment its ment to entertain people, not make you undergo a life changing experience. What ever happend to the days where people made horrible movies but if people didnt like them they didnt complain about them they said its just a movie and then they went to work and earned money to support their family. Movies weremade for entertainment they werent made to change the work, too much is expected out of directors these days.

Movies aside, in a more realistic context, the idea of chivalry was not quite dead in the early 1900s. The Titanic wasn't even a decade outside of the timeline for King Kong and "Women and Children first" was still taken seriously. A ship full of brawny, fighting men would absolutely jump to rescue the damsel in distress. It puts modern "white knight" keyboard commandos to shame. Sexist as it is.

This movie had a great opportunity but missed out on so much. A great thing about the original 1930s version was seeing Kong rampaging through New York city, causing all sorts of chaos, mayhem and destruction. A significant portion of the film was focused on this. And there was that really sad moment when Kong snatched a woman from a window, realised it wasn't Ann Darrow and then dropped her down on to the streets below. With Peter Jackson's version, once Kong found himself on the streets of New York, he did very little. He didn't do much more than swat a car. And then we had this silly ice skating scene when he could have been out smashing things in the city. And before we knew it, he was on the Empire State Building and that was that. And yet it still had a massively long runtime.

I think the biggest missed sin is that the natives were able to build a giant wall tall enough and strong enough to keep King Kong et al away from the coast without their civilization being wiped out. You would need a ton of people to do that, especially since the wall is portrayed as being bigger than the Great Wall of China, which had millions of "willing" workers put to building it.
@Jak3thusn4ke
@Jak3thusn4ke 11 ай бұрын
I know this comment is 9 years too late, but supposedly the wall was built by a past civilization on par with the Egyptians or Inca and the current residents of the island are just survivors from shipwrecks.

Josh West You're feeling "quite old" at 22?? You're still wet behind the ears. You're still an adolescent for crying out loud. You're still green boy. You need to get out there and experience life to its fullest. Go to college and learn a trade or career. Get involved with a sports team or discover your inner talents, whatever they may be. Become an actor, volunteer, help others. When you've done all these things for the next 30 or more years of your life THEN you can say you feel "quite old". Hell, I'm 51 and I'm still not ready to say that I feel "quite old". One day I might say that but not any time soon. Maybe when I'm eligible for retirement in the year 2030, 2030? In the original, Anne was horrified by Kong, while the titular gorilla was fascinated by her. In real life if a giant ape had the hots for you, you'd be scared shit less. A monster who loves you is more scary than a monster who just wants to eat you. In the remake, Anne basically has Stockholm syndrome for the ape. Both Kongs are tragic characters, but the original was more so.
