I disagree. The SUV design is very very useful. Rides higher than a sedan, has more room (none of it out in the weather as in a Ute), better visibility, lots of room like a wagon only more as the load space area is taller too (can fit a lot more in than a standard wagon, options for 7 seats for those that need it and not if you don’t, 4WD or AWD options with higher ground clearance for those rough roads/tracks/off-roading etc, room for pets (for those inclined that way), good for towing… the list goes on. Bit of a strange take, really. The "self-image" component of a vehicle purchase is a real thing and all car manufacturers put effort into massaging their own image and catering to the emotional needs of particular demographics, most certainly including the superficial appearance of "adventure" over the real substance. Indeed, you could argue that the entire mainstream SUV craze is an expression of this. It's one thing to point out the limitations and absurdity of this stuff, but singling out Mazda in this regard seems a little unfair. Subaru offers an orange highlight "Sport" grade for the Forester, as well as a lime highlight pack with the Outback "Sport", and so does Toyota with the "Edge" (complete with edgy font). Same motive in all cases: to cater to that segment of the market which wants to appear a little more "adventurous" and a little less "drab mainstream respectability".

It's not his core market. Unfortunately the my link system is a joke, it takes too long to sync to your phone, it doesn't have Android auto, the HUD doesn't adjust high enough for a tall person. I'm unsure why people are pushing the price of the V6 up,. But the V8 is up Because of it is the last cost effective V8, the ford one is collectors only being supercharged. Fellas... here's something to smack all you in the face and wake everyone the FK up down here in Oz...on Jan 7, 8 and 9 the company I contract to collected GM Executives from the airport who were later the next day seen at the old Holden factory site talking with Tesla Executives... Anyway, a little birdie 🐦 (driver) with fkn good ears (and inside dashcam) says...GM and Tesla could be looking at vehicle/s to suit Australias openess and free flowing open roads between towns and cities and they are also following closely how much of a demand for late model Commodores. The birdie (🐦) says, quote.. they spoke about this that, what happened and why and spoke about how HOLDEN nose dived (exact words) then one said about how sales actually blew our roof off (exact words) when we introduced the V6 in 87/88, the Ozzie's loved it, they loved the power and how modern it drove, coming from a straight 202 6 cylinder to the V6, was like fitting rockets to the back! "They were that so much loved, the fookin car theft rose 80% and they were stealing our cars over fords V8s since they were so much faster, we loved it, the Ozzie Cops hated it... BUT this was the golden key we needed so we stuck with it from there on". Even Subaru wanted a piece of the pie by then bringing out their powerful turbo WRX at same time. "All the Ozzie's wanted was a large 4 door sedan, or Estate, rear wheel driven, with a powerful engine, and to get one, was as easy as turning up at our doors and buy it all in a single vehicle without any need to be modified like they were doing with the 202 and 186s. We were getting 170hp from the V6 which was 50hp more than the previous model 202 and we had these tuned at its lowest to suit the Ozzie fuel which was so so poor at the time. This all turned out perfect which now we had the option to tune up each model with their power upgrade basicially doing nothing.. BUT, we then came to the problem that they were now only slightly slower than our 5.0 V8s that come out at 220hp or 165kw it was advertised at. That's when the V8s horsepower war started it's rise and those sales increased with help from the Ozzie motor racing Bathhurst and they too started in demand. The rest of the convo was made outside the drivers vehicle BUT... they could be heard with GM guy saying and shaking hands with Telstra executive "this could turn out well with your package Brian" All our drivers with them on the day driving and security were comparing notes between which group said what. One group discussed rear wheel drive but must be option button for All wheel drive for NCAP and ANCAP. One said best to work with be AWD with a button to make 2 wheel drive is a better manufacturing option where you add it all at same time instead of adding it later after it's left the production line. THEN was confirmed when Birdie said when driving the GM team back to their Hotel, GM - So were you a holden or ford ozzie? 🐦 - I'm HOLDEN through and though.. born and bred..lucky to get a last VF, there's a massive demand for commodores now. GM - Great choice, yeh we are aware of the huge demand, that's partly why we are here. GM - Thanks so much for looking after us over last few days, no doubt we will be seeing you again in the near future.. 🐦 - "No problem..Maybe you guys should bring back the Commodore and have the option of adding Tesla running gear" to which the GM Executive winked and said, might have to look into that, shook his hand and went back into the hotel. Cant show any pics or recordings as was a specific request when organising services that they don't want mobile phones recording anything and for the drivers and security to not have their phones turn on... So looks like a Holden resurrection maybe a Commodore with a powerful 450 - 700hp Tesla engine...??? Those having a sook, FO... I'm just the messenger, go tell someone who cares.

@@james0spikey if you're happy with it then that's the main thing. Not sure about the CX5 but I detail a upper spec 2020 CX8 every month and found the front seats to be quite hard and not as comfortable as our 2021 Outback touring seats. We have a new baby and really love the larger boot that the Outback has compared to the CX5 or the Forester. Sure it doesn't accelerate like a V8 but it's got enough to overtake on the highway with a few revs on board. What sort of fuel economy are you getting in the CX5?

Hi John, great report. As usual. I just bought a CX-3 in July I absolutely love it. It has good pickup 30 miles to the gallon in sport mode it absolutely flies. Lots of torque. Handles like a mini Cooper I mean it's literally like driving a Miata or a sports car. It feels like a car not an SUV. The interior is that of a $40,000 car soft materials really nice materials. The key is in Hyundai's all have had engine recalls and tons of issues. I just traded in my Elantra for the CX-3 because I would never buy another Hyundai as long as I live. I bought a Tiburon off the showroom floor and wound up having it in the shop for 60 days out of the first 90 that I owned it because the wire harness melted down because it was installed wrong. Then every other week the check engine light came on. I finally had to get rid of it on the lemon law and got the Elantra. It was a good car until the transmission went at 99,000 mi which was lucky it was barely still under warranty. Just be thankful you have that warranty because you're going to need it. If you just do some research like I did about frequency of repair records. And safety the CX3 the safety of the year award from JD Powers associates. It holds its value better than Kia or Hyundai. And the reliability rating is much better. I hope you enjoy your new car. They are nice they look really nice I actually test drove one before I test drove the CX3. I have no complaints about the drive. Or it looks that's for sure. I just couldn't bring myself to buy another Hyundai or Kia they're just garbage mechanically. Plan on having it until the warranty expires and then get rid of it trust me. I even had to replace the damn clock spring in the Elantra not cheap
