Since R.I.P.D. comes out soon, and since R.I.P.D. is basically Men In Black 4, we thought it would be fun to go back to last year and see what sins we could find in Men In Black 3.
Remember, no movie is without sin.
Which movie's sins should we recount next?

2:13 she was asking who K was to J, she knows him, but she's unsure if he's talking about the same person, which would be "impossible" She wants him to explain who he thinks K is for confirmation. Also, the whole thing moved around Will because he was meant to be there when K neuralized him as a kid, instead of going home directly after. "You were there!" As in "you were there when you saved the universe in the past!" It's like a bridge between a dimensional rift.

"Do they only remember what you instruct them to remember?" YES! That's the entire point of the neuralizer, and they make that joke in the two other films. I like CinemaSins but I feel they were writing the sins for this one without watching the whole movie first. The film clearly explained Jay remembered Kay because "he was there" and it took 43 years to attack earth because Boris' home planet is about 20 light years away (a round trip). They might be shitty explanations but still explanations.

He also when K asks J father to join why would he when this random dude out trust into a few agents to save the world. That’s why because instead of being a robot he’s a warrior that can determine when it’s worth fighting for. That’s why they chose J because he didn’t shoot the aliens he shot the girl. They want someone who will question the situation rather then go guns blazing. If they did that aliens would fuck earth up but it’s an A political planet to the galaxy which is why it’s a safe heaven for species that want to live a wonderful life. I think sometimes they add a sin otherwise this movie legitimately would only have 30.

4:00 it’s been made known in these movies immediately after neuralizing, people are still fuzzy and don’t know what’s going on. They’re given instructions after a moment to collect their heads. The instructions are just in case the person tries to remember anything. The real life urban legend is that the man in black is an alien.

The worst part for me is the series has gone from a cool alien espionage thriller with comedic tones to a flat out comedy complete with "celebrity" guests. Like, in the first film takes place mostly at night cause the whole point is keeping things secret, such is the mantra of the Men in Black. The first scene of this one has them casually memory erasing people in broad daylight in the middle of New York. That just sums up the dumbing down in tone

CinemaSins Sins: 1) Those "very metal chains" are very thin compared to that 1-1/2" solid steel door. 2) Boris probably called for reinforcements in 1969 after killing K but like....the Universe is a big place, and you can't travel faster than the speed of light, thus those reinforcements could be from anywhere within 43 light years of Earth. 3) You didn't notice the Speaking Pug circus attraction on the billboard in the background at 3:58 4) Yes, the Neuralizer works by planting suggestions in the target's brain(s), hence "That is a standard issue Neuralizer, but...you're not gonna remember that" is a perfectly valid statement.....he (likely accidentally) planted the memory of the device in their brains and then (to cover his ass) commands them to erase said memory....while I don't remember them going into extreme depth on how the Neuralizer works, they do explain (often implicitly) how the thing works.

There were a couple of errors or "Sins" in your assessment: Since K is already an Agent, he would have already abandoned his old life and wife. The device that deploys the Arch Net would surely stay put, I think the amount of G-force on lift off is 5-plus. That big ass rocket only looks like it's going slow because the cameras are so far away. If you saw some freaky shit on the TV, wouldn't you know it's a "big blip?" HBO wasn't in business until 1972. MIB 3 was made in 2011, Rip Torn died in 2019 from Alzheimer's disease so there's a good chance he was already unable to work/recall his lines. BUT he did do a stand in as "Large Headed Alien at Funeral" in MIB3. Only had a couple other titles after that. My grandfather died from Alzheimer's disease and it's a gradual decline at first and they are able to push through it, but then there's a sudden drop off and very soon they expire.

This film had so many plot holes & inconsistencies regarding time travel and Boris not killing characters without any explanation when he could do so (i.e. J in the final battle). However, what really annoyed me was the lack of screentime Tommy Lee Jones had. Yes, Brolin was great, but what made Men In Black (1997) great was the chemistry Tommy and Will had, and the screenplay for this film was too weak to ignore the decision to have Tommy Lee Jones absent for most of MIB3.

As someone who leaves near the Cape and has gone to Kennedy many times, I'll have to add a sin: Where they were located during the launch? They would have been dead. Even the shuttle launch would kill you, so the freaking Saturn V rocket? Yeah, you'd be dead. They actually proactively try to frighten away birds and other small animals from those areas because of the danger of being that close during a launch.
