Martin Donelly, a formula 1 driver, suffered a very heavy crash in his Lotus 102. Before the surgeon told him his career was over, Lucas Bailey was already test fitting his car. And even after being left behind, when he joined the paddock just as a spectator, some told him to leave because his "limping was giving the sport a bad name and could scare younger drivers" So, Doc being ditched for someone else over a crash is completely possible and has happened not only in Nascar.

Well, road safety laws should still apply, even if the cars are completely autonomous and self-aware. The reason you can't get arrested for running too fast in this world is because it isn't likely you'll run into anyone or anything, and even if you do, you're not going to deal much damage. These are cars. If they run into stuff at a high speed, they will injure and possibly kill themselves and/or others.

People who actually remember growing up in racing towns in the early 2000s will remember the fact that we lived this movie because it was like our lives. Certain stores where closed on Saturday, and only Saturday, so they could go to the race. Raceing IS NOT all about winning. Yes, it is nice to get a payday and that adrenaline rush when your car does cross the finish line, but its also about the people you will know, soley from racing. Its about working with people you love, to build a car and drive it on a 1/4 mile track of pavement. Its about crappy racetrack food. Its about lawn chairs for adults and blankets for the kids because nobody wanted to sit in the stands because they suck. Its about having a separate consession stand specifically for beer. Its about going in the pits after the race and seeing all of your favorite drivers, but its not a freak out moment, its a 'oh hey theres Dave Peterson, lets go say hi, because we have to go to church with him tomorrow and we beat him' and if your family drives a car, which my dad did, you where always on their side no matter what. You would help him in the shop no matter what you where doing before. This movie explained a lot of kids's lives when we where growing up. This movie is our childhoods.

The part where Lightning is cutting the track with the trick he learned, he is not cheating. In NASCAR, if there is a wreck in front of the driver or a driver is in a wreck, the driver is allowed to cut the track to get out of it or avoid it.

+AmtrakHan6903 Idk, Tony Stewart, and Dale Earnhardt Sr. made careers out of ramming racers out of their way.
@justineakin54857 жыл бұрын
Dale Earnhardt never intentionally wrecked other drivers, that was the result most of the time when he meant to bump them out of the way, he was called the intimidator. I can't say much about Tony Stewart because I don't really pay attention to him, so eh. Let's not forget about Kyle Busch. Back to the video, Chick Hicks always wrecked other drivers on purpose.
@starz75367 жыл бұрын
Because that's how racing was back then. There's a lot more to a car than you think. Air and drafting, for instance. You may not intentionally mean to wreck someone, but by taking off the air of their rear you could do that. Does that mean they should be disqualified? No, they don't because it was an accident. A racing incident. And there was a time, at Daytona and Talladega, where "bump drafting" was a thing to go faster. Either way, what Dale Sr did certainly made him infamous, but he did grow up and it was his racing style. You don't need to like it, but you can't condemn him for what 43+ other cars have done at least once in their racing career.
@justineakin54857 жыл бұрын
Your comment is true, and the reason Dale had such an aggressive driving style was because the racing series he started in, before he moved on to the top level of NASCAR, the racing he started in was down and dirty, every driver would do what it takes win the race. For Dale, winning a race meant that he could provide for his family.
@jesvinjoy21227 жыл бұрын
I agree with you, and I understand, I was just pointing it out, that's all. It's just that I believe that you are a better driver if you pass them cleanly, than if you just shove them out of the way (unless of course, they are purposely blocking you). No hatred against Dale Sr, it's just that I don't really agree with his driving style. And yes, Kyle Busch does drive like that too, and I don't really care much for him either. Sorry for the late response btw

This movie was one of the first movies my oldest son - now 14 - fell in love with as a child. He loved Lightning McQueen. I got chuckles out of the schtick like the headlight joke, the '2 left lug nuts' joke and the 'did what in his cup' joke and enjoyed the immense feeling of sadness and longing that the Radiator Springs flashback seen inevitable provoked. Yeah, it's a deeply flawed movie from a plot perspective, but there is magic in there somewhere and it will always have a place in my heart. Now Cars 2...that's total trash.
