I now believe that when a person is experiencing hardships that the mind compensates by producing these experiences so the person can cope. It's a biological reflex that has nothing to do with any god. If God created the Universe, remember it has been men who created the Bible, whether it was sects of Judaic priests in the bronze age, relaying myths that were then current, or Moses himself, whether it was Mark and Luke and Matthew or just unknown folks 2 hundred years later, it has been fallible imperfect men, no matter how divinely inspired, who wrote, copied, translated and interpret the Bible. When God's 1st creation--reality--comes into conflict with Man's inspired creation, the Bible, shouldn't we believe more in what God created than what imperfect Man has done? Was it not God's own act at the Tower of Babylon that made reading and understanding any word difficult if not impossible? I am a happily married man who has been a faithful and loving husband, which is more than I can say about many so-called Christian leaders who often hide their carnal lusts, cheating ways, and perversions behind a facade of faith. They damage Christianity as do the condescending lies they bear false witness too about Agnostics, Atheists, and people of other faiths. What it boils down to is this, the Christian Ideals of Love, Compassion, and Forgiveness are at the center of my life, but the Church insistence on "Obedience" above all else is morally wrong, and the most important thing to cults. Well, isn't it odd that not one of those plates and sprinkling bowls varied a single shekel in weight, in spite of the lack of mass production. Kind of unlikely. Also, not sure why they need so much roux. Were they into New Orleans cuisine? Actually, Palestine and the Levant were not desert regions 3000 years ago. They could grow grains and olives - and yet, I've still got to ask how a wandering tribe got them - olive trees still took several years to become fruitful, and grains take a minimum of several months. Completely off-topic, but you know what this reminds me? The video game Aliens: Fireteam Elite has a sequence within one of the Engineer structures from Prometheus. The friendly neighbour Synthetic figures out the sequence to open doors on the panels. "Farthest left, centre right, centre top." And I still watch the services online most of the time. If nothing else, I still want to know what my parents and brother are being taught there. And I didn't just attend either. For more than 10 years I volunteered to help with the services, youth groups, and special events. I lead a few bible studies. I lived and worked at a bible camp for 3 years. “Jesus will deliver you from that depression, nightmares, pains, sorrow, addiction and all sort of immoralities and banes in your life.” When I was a christian I was quite often depressed and terrified by my own beliefs. How can you possibly not be depressed if you believe that most people are going to hell? I had nightmares of hell. Since leaving the faith, my outlook has been significantly more cheerful and I haven't had nightmares in years. I have never had an addiction. There is not a human on the planet who hasn't experienced pain and sorrow, or had a bane, regardless of faith or lack therof. Biblical morality is cruel and destructive, so I really don't care if you think I'm immoral for accepting people for who they are and not giving a crap about weird rules that do nothing but cause harm.
