Hades was also the underworld, the realm of the dead. So, greek "hades" was used as the translation of hebrew "sheol". I contend that "hell" is the appropriate english translation for both. (Edit: but bibles tend to use "hell" to incorrectly translate "gehenna" instead.) Regarding pantheons, parts of the old testament are henotheistic / monolatrist, and there are references to a divine council of gods in places like psalm 82. The god of the bible is a conflation of the israelite (possibly borrowed from midianite) storm god yahweh with the canaanite father god el. The canaanite storm god baal was considered yahweh's rival. But yahweh defeated the sea serpent leviathan, just like his fellow storm gods defeated various sea monsters, usually sea serpents. Edit: there are people who say that yahweh was originally a metallurgy god and/or a volcano god. Perhaps. Others call him a war god. But in the bible, he is clearly a storm god. Yes he fights wars, but using storm elements: lightning, hail, floods, wind.
@OrichalcumHammer9 ай бұрын
@@qbasicmichael Yahweh was a lesser god and he was god of a particular canaanite tribe who went on a subjugation spree(also the entire Moses story which is fictional) converting other canaanite tribes including tribes who worshiped yahweh's wife. This canaanite tribe would be the first ancient israelite or ancient jews who were the first to massacre someone for their beliefs. This is adopted by christianity and islam. The problem and greatest crime on earth is Judaism which is based on fiction of Moses was made real by christianity and islam.

As for the horses and difference between a white horse and a pale horse, I believe a pale horse would apply to more than just it's fur, having a pink snout and eyes. A white horse could refer to just its fur, but also could be its entire coloration being white, hoofs ears, tail to snout.

By my understanding, by "pale" the writer is referring to the ghastly pale colour of a corpse. The pale horse is a zombie horse. Now that makes sense, because its rider is Death. I mean, why would Death be rider a living horse? That would be silly. I am serious about that horse being a zombie. Apparently, the original Greek used a word that describes the ghastly pale colour of a corpse. It's a detail that has been lost in translation. Too bad. Death would look pretty rad riding upon a zombie horse followed by the legions of Hades. Oh yeah, in some interpretations Death is leading the denizens Hades, it's not just the Greek god. So, that's Death riding a zombie horse and leading an army of the dead. Why isn't this a heavy metal album cover? Oh, and the first horseman isn't Pestilence, that's a misunderstanding caused by Middle Age scholars pushing names onto the first three horsemen who are not actually named. I would argue that a better name for the first horseman would be Conquest, Social Upheaval, Maga or Trump.
