Movies need to hire more/better pilots and air traffic controllers as consultants, both for the script and production. "We just lost avionics," as an unqualified statement is simply laughable. Avionics are aviation electronics, which includes the plane's interior and exterior lights, radios, and in some planes even the flight controls. Short of a nuclear EMP, there are redundancies built into flight-critical systems so that even if they all fail, they won't fail simultaneously.

The cat-killing at the beginning of "The Book of Eli" was given "an automatic 10 sins" though. So why's this one worth half as many? As Jeremy would say, "What are the rules?!" (Should be an automatic break-the-sin-counter imho, but I don't make the rules...)

You missed the one where a flight attendant they barely know saying "can I see you for a moment please" is enough to make two FBI agents completely abandon the witness they're supposed to be protecting. If only Eddie Kim had known it was that easy. Who needs an elaborate plot to get a swarm of enraged snakes onto a plane? All you need is someone to ask to politely ask to see the FBI for a moment, and your hitman has all the time he needs to take care of Sean.
