On the hell thing: we need to keep in mind that none of these characters are speaking English. It's been conveniently translated to our various languages for us. But some phrases don't always translate well and an English idiom is substituted as "close enough" to create understanding. Without speaking the native languages of the characters we can't really know what the literal translation is but I'm guessing that "see you in hell" means roughly the same thing: I'll see you in the next life, where the "next life" might be an unpleasant place.
@user-yg2zh9io4x21 күн бұрын
I know people are all over the place on this show, but I thought the stunt workers did admirable and quality work pretty consistently. I am ALSO glad it got cancelled because narratively it was not in line with the direction the franchise needed to go. A lot of potential, and a lot of good Star Wars feel to this project, I actually genuinely liked some of it. Not the fail that people like to label it, and certainly not by any measure a masterpiece as some people like to extol it as.
@toddtastes98559 күн бұрын
I agree. However, if not this, what is the direction the franchise ‘needs to go’ 🤔

There is a part of me that wishes the political element had been brought in sooner and been more central to the series. Give me a political/espionage thriller set in the Star Wars universe. A team of Jedi have committed a crime and they are trying to cover it up, but a senator suspects something and is trying to investigate and uncover the truth. With good writing, that could be the basis for a legitimately good series. "Parallax View" or "Three Days of the Condor" or "Manchurian Candidate" or some other old conspiracy thriller in the Star Wars universe.
@MemoristCed20 күн бұрын
@@RetroGirl1967 Alternatively, a team of Jedi were put in a bad situation with insufficient information, did the best they could, and an ambitious senator is using the opportunity to score points on them--with a little influence from a shadowy figure who seems to have a grudge. Even if that sounds similar to the Prequels, history repeats, and some people will keep doing the same stupid things over and over until it finally works.
@RetroGirl196720 күн бұрын
@@MemoristCed If I correctly understand your idea, I love it. To add onto it/expand it, if I may: All of the Jedi in the bad situation were killed expect for one who was "lucky" to survive. The senator is accusing them/the Jedi order of something horrible. The surviving Jedi wants to clear thier name and the names of the Jedi who died in the bad situation. In doing so, the Jedi has to discover/untangle the conspiracy.

Well, 300 has King Leonidas yelling, 'Tonight, we dine in Hell!' When Hell was a Christian invention, not known to the Ancient Greeks.
@synbiosblade21 күн бұрын
Hell isn't a Christian invention, not even that specific word, the concept of an underworld full of punishments is very much not Christian or Judaean in origin. Hel or Helheim predates Christianity by 2,000 years, Tartarus 700 years. Since Christianity is a division from Judaism and Judaism doesn't have a hell in the vain of Christianity it is far more likely that Christianity stole the notion of Hell from another culture. Specifically it would have taken it from Egyptian religion as it took a lot of its early notions and stories directly from there.
@brunozeigerts637921 күн бұрын
@@synbiosblade Either way, Leonidas would have said Hades, not hell. As an aside, many notions of Hell come from Dante, not the Bible.
@synbiosblade21 күн бұрын
@@brunozeigerts6379 not sure if you caught this while watching the movie but they were speaking English. Now I know quite a bit about religion, but not as much about linguistics history, however I am going to assume that wasn't the native tongue at the time.
@brunozeigerts637921 күн бұрын
@@synbiosblade English as we know it didn't exist until much later. They spoke Ancient Greek. It could be argued that the filmmakers used an word with association more familiar to modern audiences, even though Hades isn't synonymous with the Christian view of hell. None of this answers why people in the Star Wars universe would use the word hell.
@synbiosblade21 күн бұрын
@@brunozeigerts6379 oh that is because star wars never had a proper vision of what it wanted to be only what it was at the time. You can see how disjointed things got even in the prequels. Lucas arguably doesn't actually have a great grasp on story telling. Like he is way better than I am but his stories are very basic. Other people fleshed out his universe for him but then Disney said all of that isn't part of the story any more and Lord knows they have never been capable of telling an original story everything they have ever done was an adaptation of someone else's work. So without a proper guide line on how the story should go or how the universe works they are just tossing crap at a wall and hoping people nostalgia their way into enjoying it.

6:00 Ok, so there should be an extra (Or a shitload.) of sins here. And I need to emphasize what I'm about to say because it was made in the Disney era and thus CANON. Lightsaber Color, with 2 exceptions, are tied to the person who bonded with the Crystal. Usually there being a reason based on personality or something. The 2 Exceptions being Red and White, Red is when you bleed the Kyber Crystal in a Ritual that the Kyber Crystal, which are alive, really DO NOT like and they fight it tooth and nail. It took Vader, motherfucking DARTH VADER multiple tries, and one of his first tries the Kyber Crystal flung him into a cave wall. The final time where he was successful it ALMOST TURNED HIM BACK THE LIGHT SIDE! Like Bleeding a Kyber Crystal is NOT something you can just do, you actually have to intentionally do so. Just getting pissed enough would not do it, otherwise Anaking killing the Tusken Raiders or the Killing the Padawans would have done it, Little Orphan Annie was already deep in the Darkside when fighting Obi-Wan in 3, but still had a Blue Lightsaber. The Fucking Color doesn't just change like a Mood ring, you got the Color when you first bond with it, and if your a dark sider you bleed it in a Ritual, and I have to emphasize it has to be done in a Ritual where you are actively intentionally doing this, at bodily risk to yourself and even the possibility of being turned back to the Light. Osha just doing it out of nowhere on Accident literally breaks the lore that was established UNDER DISNEY. For those wondering about White since I brought that up, it's when someone purifies a Bled Kyber Crystal. Asohka jacked the crystals she currently has from an Inquisitor and healed them (After the Crystals straight up helped her in the fight against the Inquisitor because the Crystals, again, DO NOT LIKE being Bled.).
