As a possible explanation for the "characters keep finding each other despite how large the city is" in this movie: they're fucking squirrels. A squirrel's normal activity range is normally around 5 square miles, and I can say from personal experience that the same squirrel will frequent an area regularly (as in daily) if it knows it's a source of food. they're probably all staying within a certain range of the park, as there is likely food sources that they are familiar with nearby.
