Constructive criticism is a good thing! Just because they sent me the game doesn't mean it doesn't have flaws. I'm not gonna lie about a pack just because they sent me a $20 game for free. It'd be pretty scary if a KZbinr's opinions could be bought for that little. They send out review copies for a reason, and we're *supposed* to comment on their mistakes. Personally, I don't really see myself as a good builder at all but I still build every now and then for practice. I at least try to get better at it. I'm not saying this to be bitchy but I honestly feel like even though I'm kind of a suckish builder, I could still create better ROM builds than the Sims team was able to come up with and that's sad because I'm more of a CAS and storytelling type of player than I am a builder.

Because even a complaint is still free advertising, and if they actually asked someone to do something, they'd have to pay them to do it. That's not the way they do things. It's cheaper to hand out a few free early copies and expect several hours worth of KZbinr Sims players advertise their game for free through their review and let's play content. Capatalistically, it's brilliant.

EA Would say: do you want witch hats? Buy Halloween stuff pack! . Honestly, we need to wait until a sim player designs a witch hat and toddler clothes for us. EA knows that the players design everything much better than themselves. Same applies for any constructions of the sim world. So they have only half work to do. Thats why they give us only the basement of the new gameplay and storyline. Of course for the same price! EA knows that, so they dont waste time with quality. All the private sim Designer are cheap worker for EA. But its only my opinion :(

I have the spooky stuff pack and the witch hat is fine but literally there's no witches or wizard robes for any age. I was so miffed that we didn't even get a traditional/simple witch dress and wizard robe with this pack and then not even a little witch hat for the kids and toddlers since they have no gameplay options in this pack (aside from binding familiars and having magic bloodline trait). That's what killed the vibe for me, I play in CAS more than building and when we have simple CAS stuff lacking it kills the vibe of the pack for me. I went from excited to aggravated in 10 minutes of reviewing CAS stuff.

I have most of the packs (bought them for 40-50% off because it's simply not worth the money) and the game still doesn't feel.. alive? The previous Sims games seem to have much more details that weren't even included in the Sims 4. After a while it just gets boring🤦‍♀️ Realm of magic could've been amazing they could've added really cool things but it's really basic.. In my opinion they could do much better

The Sims needs competition. The main reason I’m so excited for Paralives is the Sims team need to realize they need to give a shit or no one will pay for their garbage anymore. The reason we all still buy the new packs and play the game is there are no other games that compare. That’s it. They’re going to realize that big mess ups and mediocre content aren’t going to cut it anymore. And I couldn’t be more thrilled.

I think also the reason why they are so bare is that they have to think of the people who only have base game and are only buying this one pack. It would suck to have to buy a pack and have items missing because you don’t have other packs. Also, I think Sims is an outlet for imagination. So, instead of spending labor hours on making good lots and stuff. KZbinrs and Sims players will recreate it to make it a better version that fits them, the playstyle, and the story kind of thing. HARD disagree, even a cheap game should be functional and fun (that's a minimum requirement) it's still someone's hard earned money. Look at any indie game made by a small studio, they go above and beyond for their cheapest games and DLC's . Ik it's expected for EA to be scaming their customers at this point but you shouldn't accept it. The Sims 3 and 2 expansions were huge and they were worth the $50 price tag. But they've been cutting out content that should've been in the base game and repackaging it in their expansions pack. The Sims 3 supernatural pack used to have vampires, werewolves, witches, zombies, and faeries with so much added furniture, clothes... NOW you have to separately pay for each of those features for the sims 4 with the Vampire, Werewolves, Magic packs. Stop throwing your money at a company that is scaming you, they'll stop doing this.

It isn't nitpicking at all. Look at the building in Sims 3, they were so beautiful and ornate. Also, many of us aren't builders so we rely on the lots at least looking decent so when they look like literal abominations its really disappointing. Its like having the fixer upper in the beautiful upper class neighborhood, it brings the value of everything down and no matter how beautiful the environment is no one wants to live next to a crappy looking house. Also, everything is set dressing. The "magic" world you can travel to is stunning, but you can't do anything there other than buy some stuff.....so you will see it and then thats it. They are putting too much time, effort, and money into set dressing and it baffles me.

All the packs they release have so much potential and they ruin it - mermaids, celebrities, spell casters could've all been so much more in depth. ever since i started playing at 10 years old i would buy EVERY single pack they released and play them religiously. sims 4 - i dont even own all their packs and if i want to buy something i wait for a sale, because that's what they're worth. its really frustrating to me because it's been my ultimate favorite game for most of my life and this is what EA's done to it. just. disappointment. sigh

yea they have a max item count i think for performance as well as they cant use move objects on because ppl that dont use it wont be able to place the things back on if they move them by mistake... stuff like that. At least that's the reason the interiors are so MEH in decor, but yea I don't get why they don't hire someone who is good at building exteriors that look fantastic. Realistically that shouldn't be an issue at all in a game this big. Also, just checking for functionality and mistakes. It seems like they just give the devs or designers the chance to make a house for live version and they don't really care how good/bad they are at building.

These youtubers are not only testing the game, looking for glitches, bugs and mistakes, it's a perfect way, to make the sims players excited for the new pack . They are getting testers and advertisment for literally no money. Lot of games do the same, (or kinda). I feel like the Sims devs work really hard and care a lot about the game but are probably put under a lot of pressure and given deadlines by EA, so they're not given a chance to really flesh out any of the packs or are forced to do things like "my first pet" stuff to milk more money. That's just speculation tho. We should be extremely critical of large, greedy, capitalist game companies (all companies), and not of the individual devs.

I think they did that deliberately, so you could go in and make your own stuff. Cause honestly, the original basegame houses that were in Willow Creek and Oasis Springs looked fine (with a few exceptions), but then the houses just got progressively crappier with each pack. Either that, or just laziness. Sometimes they’ll make a decent looking house, but the interior design is just garbage. But, like lilsimsie said, it is more fun to go in and renovate or just completely build from scratch.

Well, there's different aesthetics and such. Like at 3:54, she discusses about "centering the windows", which is a good concept, one I've noticed in more than a few builds. But, in this instance, the window on the second floor was centered above the 1st floor matching window, which was offset for the bathroom window. The design choice was running both windows to match between floors for symmetry, which is the correct way to do it. But the reason why it had to be done is just shoddy design concept, because the main problem is the first floor has a really funky floor plan with a water closet right there on the front-facing wall. Sure, you don't need that window there to provide light and could remove it easily, but you also can't move that main window over because now it's running between the main entry way and the water closet. It's a shitty design that a couple superficial changes aren't going to fix. And that's what you run into with many of the stock builds. Just really careless designs that might look great for the overall structure (not in this case, that house exterior looked like something I'd build... not complimentary), but are a complete mess on the interior.

This is actually shocking! I'm a long time Sims fan, I've been playing and collecting since the first Sims PC game. I have watched EA treat their loyal fans worse and worse over the years by providing less content and charging more for it. It's actually gross. I stopped collecting after playing The Sims 4 for the first time and realising how little content they give you for the money, and progressively watching them rip their fans off with half-assed, lazy content packs. EA have just become greedy cash grabbers who continue to prove how little they actually care about producing quality games and actually giving their loyal fans what they pay so much for. @@stardewqueen3508 dont get your hopes up yet. All thats been released so far is some build mode features. Still havent seen gameplay or how the "parafolk" work, way too early to even consider it competition for the sims

I think what they were going for was “oooh it’s magical witches. Their architecture doesn’t look quite right because they’re M A G I C oooohhh” but I don’t think it worked too well.

its insane that ea continues to sell us packs that feel so unfinished, like good for them focusing on the gameplay but building is a HUGE part of the sims, the sims 4 feels like its just focusing on gameplay and young adults and up, thats it

It’s like they’re focusing more on gameplay now that people have been ragging on it and calling it lackluster (which it has been) and they allowed themselves to slack in building. It’s not right. They gotta put 110% into a game they’re gonna sell. They need to improve both in building and gameplay and not just focus on one or the other.

XIII exactly, and their gameplay hasn’t even been great. dine out’s biggest gimmick was restaurants which are basically non-functional since it takes hours for sims to get their food along w so many other glitches. and didn’t moschino stuff focus on that new career which also glitched, something to do with not receiving something in the mail resulting in not being able to be promoted? it’s insane, their packs all seem unfinished and rushed with building and gameplay

ok so when I got realm of magic I didn’t know anything much about it because I wanted to go in blind and experience it all for the first time and bruh I was SO DISSAPOINTED that we couldn’t actually do anything with that little greenhouse island!!! It was so pretty and I just wish it was actually a functional building :-(

Your rants and the comments and dissapointment of other Simmers are making me even more convinced that quality of each Pack we get gets worse. And I've said this on James' channel, too... I'd rather have less packs a year that are decent quality (nothing forgotten, less glitches, perhaps bigger worlds) than have a tonne of half-finished/sloppily done packs a year. They keep "forgetting" matching island counters... two packs in a row is NOT acceptable. EA: Check your stuff properly before you release it. Prioritise quality over quantity. Please. There seems to be a glitch, where every Sim is now a Witch or wizard, after you installed the Pack... is that true? Because that will definitely put me off buying it in the future. I do not care for magic, but the new Objects are kinda cool. Would use it if you could disable the magic part in the gameplay options, like you could in the Sims 3
