Very informative. Have owned mine for 10 years now and apart from the perishables, haven’t had too many issues. Surprisingly good around the twisties with a decent coilover set up. I’ve also updated the ARBs to H&R which makes a massive difference with the thicker rear. No more understeer. Never feel fast because the power delivery is so linear but 0-60 in 6 and keeps pulling all the way to 155, you really don’t need anymore on UK roads. The sound speaks for itself and they still turn heads 15 years on. They’ll never stick a VR6 in a Golf again. I’ve never added up my 10 year fuel bill though 😄

Definitely has got me hooked after a week of ownership, something about driving around with a 3.2 in a Golf is just cool to me

Weve had ours even longer and still love it. Its had quite an easy life and not needed any big jobs done.....so far! I think that shape still looks great due to the clean lines. The sound it makes will soon be gone i to history, so we should enjoy it while it lasts. I dont find the fuel too bad . Maybe because i drive an r36 and the wife uses the golf. The passat is thirstier. The engines seem pretty strong. Dont want to say bulletproof, just in case....

I watched this with interest, i bought a VW last year with a Full service history, mass flywheel replacement, timing chain replacement, mechanically great, so my service was just done and the tech did a video for me, pointed out that the bump stops need replacing, centre exhaust clamp needs replacing, brake discs and pads need replacing, fuel filter housing needs replacing, the bill for this was big....it's at this time you start thinking to yourself to start saving money...obviously a dealer will charge you way above your local garage, I have decided to source all the required parts from a reputable German parts company to make savings, and getting all the required parts in over the next couple of months, doing this (a) saves the garage time in ordering the parts and (b) means you will pay the garage only for labour.... if at all possible don't let a dealer garage take care of your car other than a service and to get the log book stamped.

Tbh mines on 10700 had it 7 months. Had the mk4 before, which tbh is a nice looking motor, buts it’s years behind the ride comfort and handling of the mk5. Chains are not a problem as long as you do oil in them once a year . Mine has had oil changed once a year since new. When I check my oil it’s always really clean looking, even after 2 thousand miles since I did it..

Love that engine. The wife has an r32 and ive got an r36. Very different cars though. Similar sound since i got a stainless exhaust on the passat. I wouldnt say either car was nimble, like a fiesta but they are both lovely to drive and very planted at speed. Hers is 14 years old and mine 12 but theyre holding together well. Decent quality. Both quite costly to run but we do low miles. Hoping to keep them as long as possible but it might be difficult as my job might be gone now. Youve got to have a bit of fun somehow though.....

Hey lads.. I am about to see a VW Passat B6 2.0tfsi 200bhp On pictures looks pretty good. Good service history and old MOT's looks ok nothing too crazy on there. 3 previous owners and 140k miles... Is it worth it to give it stage 1 remap? It is a much heavier car then the golf GTI so I feel like basic remap would benefit the car..should push out around 250bhp and 60 more torque also a bit better mpg maybe 10%? I can get the car for a good price I think (1500 pounds) and will change the cambelt straight away(was changed at 70k miles so it's due now pretty much) Does anyone has experience with PASSAT b6 with this engine? What to look for on the inspection and test drive ETC THANKS A LOT PEOPLE stay safe😎
