So in other words, the frog extinction wouldn’t happened if us human either 1: import them back to their homeland and release them or 2: Put them down since they’re considered invasive species to the other lands.
@CormacHolland5 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, our understanding of the ecological world was not as advanced as it is today. There are countless examples of introductions (both intentional and unintentional) across the planet having unforeseen impacts on their environment.
@nathan9001305 ай бұрын
@@CormacHolland exactly. if humans in the past knew about conservations, we probably would’ve still be able to see live Dodos today.
@smileyp45353 ай бұрын
I mean it's just easier and cheaper to let them go into the wild outside then ship them back in numbers which would have probably also had negative effects (tho not globally) That's the problem with making things about profit instead of about the whole world for progress
@ShrimChickenАй бұрын
@@CormacHolland I'm willing to bet the signs of risk were there but profits were more important. In spite of our current knowledge of ecological impacts we continue to poison the earth at an incredible rate, for profits.

Australians damn well knew about invasive species by the 60s - especially scientists - because we had seen the devastation due to: ▪︎ Rodents ▪︎ Rabbits ▪︎ Cane Toads ▪︎ Cats, Dogs, Foxes & more. Releasing any species "into the wild" is the kind of stupid & shortsighted thing that you'd expect a young child to do.

Isn’t it crazy?! I studied herpetology in college... it really adds an extra heaping layer of misanthropy to your day. The Good news is, there’s some hope. If herpetologists act quickly enough, many amphibians can breed in captivity and eventually be reintroduced, and there are many studies being conducted to help find an ecologically safe solution. Look into the Golden Panamanian Frog, though. I wanted to get a tattoo of one, because to me they represent overcoming adversity, against all odds. When I saw some in an exhibit at the Atlanta zoo, I am not exaggerating when I say that I cried- because it meant that the population that the team collected were successfully breeding.

So basically, we released frog plague 😢 Another story of humans thinking they know what they are doing and destroying nature and the beautiful variety of animals in it. 😢 In the end, we will end up in a desolate, barren world devoid of any diversity in its flaura and fauna, devoid of everything that once made it beautiful and most importantly devoid of all the qualities that made it livable for us and that will be the price for our hubris. The saddest thing is that we will deserve it too.😢
@mildlymarvelous4 ай бұрын
Your username being hopeless is really appropriate 😅 As an environmental science major, I do NOT believe that we can completely destroy the world and make it barren. We can certainly be very destructive and wipe out biodiversity, but many animals have been shown to be surprisingly adaptable. For example, the wildlife populations in Chernobyl!
@kezif2 ай бұрын
i dont get it when people talk about humans that destroy the nature like they are some kind of aliens. What about you know, any other specie that alter ecosystem for they needs?
@killroy11172 ай бұрын
You vastly overestimate the ability of humans, this planet has had life on it for billions of years and faced far harder hardships then what we could ever imagine. We most certainly won’t outlast Earth it’s billions of years older then we can fathom and had life on it even longer then that. We’re not that special.
