I've never seen actual human beings playing boards of canada music, if this video brought tears to my eyes, I can't imagine watching the duo live...

It's that warm, ethereal oboe around 4:20 that brings such a tear to my eye.

Cor anglais (aka. English horn and member of the oboe family) seems to be the specific instrument used to produce that amazing, melancholy sound. Thanks to the person in the prior comments for pointing this out.

We need more classical covers of Boards of Canada like this. Their music is absolutely worth it and very suitable to make a whole classical cover album.

they even did the whole batshit intro, i'm stunned this was an early fave of mine when i was in hgih school, seeing and hearing this now in 2022 20y after that first listen is.... like many have said, an experience. i love a cover with a slightly different feel. i don't think i could drive for hours and hours through the countryside to this. i could absolutely clean, or make art, something more active. glad these two versions i like so much.

Loving how BoC´s music is translate to a classical atmosphere instrumentation, that´s sublime. Love

This is fascinating. As a lover of both orchestral music and electronic music, i'd love to hear more of this kind of thing. Though i confess I do miss the warmth of the bass. A Studio version of this cover where they could mix the double bass a bit louder would be gorgeous. Come to think of it, a third option could be a studio version combining the orchestral and electronic elements. Possibilities for music are endless!

Me too but there's a limit to how clean a recording I can make with a cheapish camera and sat on the front pew of a small church whilst trying to film from my lap! You might find this a little cleaner though www.blogotheque.net/2016/06/27/fractured-air-x-blogotheque-s01e06-june-mix/ Track 4 (13m38s in). Better yet just go and see them play somewhere. They regularly cover BOC at their gigs we-are-stargaze.com/
@markroberts56657 жыл бұрын
Agreed on that. Ambient meets classical actually works. A new era in the making - it was only a matter of time. I think BoC is an easy supreme choice despite their own technical difficulties in retro failthfulness. Autechre would be another, if not so emotionally deep - still deep, but technically more challenging perhaps.
