There’s a happy medium between leaving the bunny in a playpen and letting them free roam all over the house. You can choose a room and let them free roam in there only. My bunny 🐰 has my office and the bathroom connected to it. She is super happy having her own space and being away from my dogs. Also I work from home, so I’m with her almost all day. Another tip: Bathroom mats. My bunny looooves a soft bathroom mat and they are super affordable. She especially loves memory foam ones from Walmart. Lol Bunnies are honestly so chill and low maintenance. Give them a piece of your fruit and let them play with a cardboard box, pet them and give them love and they’re happy as can be. ❤❤❤❤

I randomly stumbled across your videos a few weeks ago, and i honestly never knew they could be indoor pets, or just how loving they are. It’s 6am and my rabbit has been free roam 24/7 since he was 7 weeks, he’s almost 3 years old now, he’s in my bed, we were cuddling and watching this then he got mad that I wouldn’t let him eat my phone charger so I’m getting the booty treatment now😂 I’m very proud to say that I’ve inspired my friends with bunnies to free roam, when they met my bunny they always ask “how is he so nice? My bunny never wants to cuddle or be pet for a long time” and I swear it’s because of free roaming. They feel like an equal and they can do their own thing when they want and if they feel like spending time with you they can come to you whenever. It’s hard if they’re in a cage because everyone wants to play with their bunny when they let them have roaming time but if they’re cooped up most of the time when they’re out they just want to do their own thing

Hi! Does your bun pee other places other than the litter box?
@deekamikaze2 ай бұрын
@@saplingsofsweven1125 Mine was doing that for the first few days that I got her so I would watch her like a hawk and when she started to lift her tail I would immediately scoop her up and put her in the litter box so she knew that it wasn't okay and then I'd immediately sanitize the area just in case anything got on the floor or wherever. They will do it either because of hormones or a change in the house like a new pet or sometimes if they have enough room you just need more than one litter box. Also bunnies are very clean creatures so make sure you're changing the litter at least every other day but don't do it too much or else they might get confused and not know where to go to the bathroom. Let them leave their pee scent in there but make sure the litter is changed so nothing sticks to them and so they don't have to lay in their own poo.

I've had a bit of a tricky go with my rabbit. I inheritated my rabbit from my baby sister who got tired of him. So I can't say enough how important it is to realize how long rabbits can live. My rabbit is now 9 years old, we're pretty sure and I've come across some challenges but I have so much love for Bambi that I think the challenges are totally worth it!!

I would also suggest, pet insurance. Its a life saver. My rabbit had a biopsy, then medication afterwards, and it was a lot of money, but having insurance towards that was a peace of mind. Its a payment a month, but when something happens to your pet, you know they're covered. :)

The shorter xpens are great for bunny proofing the walls, baseboards and cords. Just line the walls with them if you have a bunny who thinks the plastic corner and cord protectors are a great toy. Might not look great but I would rather protect the hard surfaces from chewing.

It's also a good idea to neuter because a neutered bun tends to live longer as the risk of reproductive cancer is much much lower, inside rabbits who have been neutered live years longer on average than an unneutered outside bunny would

This girl that was in my class last year got a rabbit, and she said she is getting a rabbit and I told her to do research before getting a rabbit and she said ok but, she showed me her cage and her care and stuff… she clearly didn’t do her research 😶. I told her multiple times her care isn’t right and she needs to get a large Xpen (she had the smallest cage.) and her excuses were “I have 2 cats” and “I don’t have enough space for one”.. I kept telling her so many times and she didn’t listen. She had a salt lick, water bottle, bad toys, tiny hay rack, etc. I tried telling her all of those stuff was bad and she didn’t listen.

I can't agree with you more. And it's good timing, there are such good sales right now. Knowing where to go after vet hours is so important, unfortunately in my city there's only one emergency vet, but she at least will see buns. Day to day we go to vet that is our neighbour, and she's wonderful, once she waited for us after her hours, because I panicked a bit. And he tolerates her, so we have a success. And she always gives him compliments and is petting him. Good vet is really important.

I find that ex pens can sometimes be pricey and not be enough space. So having to buy two can be an issue for some people. But if you have old cages for small animals you can actually take them apart and use zip ties to put them together as a custom ex pen to what ever size you want. I use to have a bunch of extra cages, i didnt really use them but i kept buying them at yardsales and thrift stores or finding them in people trash occasionally. So i decided to clean them as best i could, and take them apart to make a pen that is decent size.

I get branches from friends’ yards or gardens I volunteer in, NOT from roadsides, or places where pesticides are used. I highly recommend if you have apple trees or know someone who does, get branches, 1/2 inch in diameter or less are great. You can give them any size, but the smaller branches have the smooth tender bark, and usually have more leaves. I cut a bunch and put them in a vase or bag in crisper. I cut a 6-8 inch piece, depending on how many leaves are on it. The bun loves it, the morning, after work, and before bed. During the winter he eats all the bark on the branches.

We were there from 11PM-4:30AM. The vet said the baby gas drops are a hit or miss but it’s still worth a shot so it could buy time as you said Lorelei. I will definitely be looking into the hair ball medication because they shed horribly & won’t let me groom them so I have to take them to a groomer monthly😅

Is it okay for my bunny do live in a 20ft by 7ft hutch? We have it from when no one is home so she can’t get herself hurt and so that she has more room than she would because our expen is small. As soon as I get home from school I let her out and she has 2 whole rooms to herself I don’t like to give the whole house because there is more stuff that she could nibble and bunny proofing out whole house is just something we want to avoid. So that’s my reasons for having a hutch for her but it is a big one and my reasons are good I think but do you think her living in the hutch it would only be like 6 house out of the day before she’s let out would be the same as having her in a cage?

I have a new Facebook friend who turned me on to some of your videos, now I have seen your videos before and I always enjoyed it! But this time I subscribed, and I pressed my notification bell. In this video, I'd say about 90%, if not a little more of what you talked about I've always had for my rabbits, now I haven't had a bunny in about 3 years, and my only biggest problem is the fact that I have to Uber wherever I go. So I really have to research a good rabbit specialist in the Tampa Bay area. Of course I'll reach out to Tampa house rabbit society in Tampa. I may be getting a bunny in a few months, so I'm going to continue watching your channel. Thank you very much for being who You are! I saw the video today of you helping that Homeless lady in her car, oh my God it brought me to tears!

@@bnnyhlp952 I am only going to get one bunny, her name is penelope. My girlfriend who lives in Orlando Florida, I live in Tampa Florida is going to let me have my bunny in January or February. She's about 7 or 8 years old estimated by a veterinarian, she has mega colon so she could not be spayed. But she is a very good little girl and uses her litter box every time!

The only other thing I can think of that's essential if your using a pen is some sort of hide (one with 2 exits are best) so they have a safe space. Free roaming rabbits will probably find somewhere in the house to hide but in a pen a hide is essential.

I used to have a silver marten rabbit, but even now, I still like learning about rabbits, and I sometimes fantasise about buying rabbit gear, ready for the day when, who knows! I might adopt a rabbit.

My favourite rabbit purchase is a self filling water bowl/fountain. I still empty and rinse and refill same as a normal bowl but it’s impossible for my bun to knock over and the water container on top comes off so if you have to go anywhere you can take a giant container of water with you and attach to the bowl when you need to, ideal for travel. Also reassuring at night I used to worry she might knock her bowl over and have no water at night or she might drink it all while I’m not awake or at home but now I know she will always have full fresh water and it will fill her bowl up as she drinks it

If you look up “pet water dispenser” you can find loads and they’re pretty affordable, plus makes it look like your bun works 9-5 in an office and is just hanging out by the water cooler

Is there a substitute for hay, I am in Caribbean and we don't have hay, he's only on pellets for now but want to be able to give him the correct food

Hey Lorelei! This video has been very useful for me since it’s really given me ideas for some changes I should make to make my bunny’s life better. I have a lion head and when you talked about the grooming what kind of brush or tool would you recommend for a lionhead? I have the hair buster but I have noticed that it might pull a bit too harshly on his skin. Love you and Lennon!!

in my country they don’t sell alfalfa pellets (thank goodness there is alfalfa hay) is there a different type of pellets I can use? The bunny I’m getting is about 3 1/2

Hi there! I'm considering getting a bunny pretty soon and I was wondering if your normal vet can spay/neuter a bunny or if they need a special vet? Also I've heard bunnies need to have a friend so you should get at least two is that true? Im home almost all the time(im a stay at home mom) so the bunny would almost never be alone. Do you think they could still use a playmate? Anyway thanks for the great video the information was super helpful!
