I just saved a bunny from my cousin who was going to give them to her boyfriend for hunting practice so my mom kind of “stole” the rabbit from them to keep it from being hunting. I have done many of these mistakes when I adopted my rabbit. I bought a cage, water bottle, hay feeder, all wrong. Two days later, I couldn't support to see her in a cage. Something in myself told me it was wrong. So the next day, i decided to go to a supermarket, bought plank with the right dimensions, shealth, box, to bunny proof my home,... Then, I let her out. She was 3 months old so she was peing everywhere on the bed, and even if i thought I was going to be crazy at the time, I never thought again about putting her in her cage. Now she has a little tent, a proper litter box with a lot of hay, many toys, she's happy and I'm so happy she is! I regret I was so naive and had no proper knowledge about rabbit at the time, but I don't regret to have her with me. Even if I did made these mistakes, i was able to learn and understand what was better for her. I wish everyone could understand that like I did. (sorry for my english i'm french)

@@poop-nq2yw You have to buy something to protect the cable, you'll fing it at Ikea, then, make sure there is nothing she can eat (plants for example), then, make sure she doesn't have access to the places where you don't want him to go. (for example, under the bed, put some wooden planks so she can't go, same under the sofa....) For the rest, be with him, be attentive about what she does, does she eat something you forgot? You will make some mistake for sure (the number of cable for my phone I lost ahah) but you'll learn and finally you'll be able to free home her everyday ! Lenon the bunny made a video about it, you should go watch it ! :)

Despite lots of criticism on this front, I believe Lorelei is nervous if the second rabbit would not turn out to be like Lennon in terms of the relationship with her. I watched the whole video to see if she would talk about it. I think it's kind of bad that she gives a lot of good advice, becomes a reference for most people watching on how to care for the animal, and still completely neglects talking about this. Because she gives a lot of complete and accurate information, people will rely completely on her and her channel and will never know about this. Most commenters have only one bunny. It's a bit sad.

When I was 12 my mom “ got me a rabbit” well I was the one who initiated it. However, everyone in the family helps take care of her and gives her lots of love. And my mom is the technical legal owner. I think it’s OK to have a rabbit as a family pet rather than a pet that’s only belongs to one person. A child should not be 100% responsible for the bunny. Yeah teaching a child about rabbit care and proper handling of rabbits and any animal can be very beneficial.

Magpine great comment! My son has rabbits, he’s 8, but I am the one who takes care of them. Because they are his rabbits has to help feed them & each week he helps to clean their pens. I also make sure he spends time playing with them each week. He still has certain responsibilities but the main care is left to me. This is how it should be. Rabbits require special care & should not be the sole responsibility of a young child. I don’t like to put an age limit because people mature at different rates. Some are mature enough at 13 & others are not. I think a rabbit makes a great family pet if the parent helps take the responsibility & everyone understands the care required.

My bunny lives outside happy and healthy. We have an pen ofc so he can move whenever he wants to and ofc play things so he doesn’t get bored. And I don’t think he’s lonely either because he seems to like the company of the birds around! Sometimes when I look out my window or go outside I see him hanging out with a few small birds! And that’s nice to see so I know he isn’t lonely when I’m not always there. I check on him every day give him some food and fresh water and ofc pets ✨ and when it’s cold we put him under the ‘loft’ I think is the word? That we have made in our backyard. It keeps wind out and keeps warmth in. Ofc giving him lots of hay to settle into and when it get really cold we also tend to put a blanket over his home for the same reason as the loft. For summer we give him cold things to make sure his body temperature doesn’t get to high. We also make the floor wet so his feet don’t get hot. We also give him an cold blanket but he doesn’t really use it. It’s easy to see he likes summer a lot more then winter because in the summer he gets a lot more attention.

Our bunnies and young children get along well BUT we take lots of precautions. They're not allowed together unsupervised, rough play is not allowed, the bunnies' space is off-limits to the kids, etc. Our kids are young enough that they will likely still be home when these rabbits pass, but they're still the adults' responsibility and that's how it ought to be for now. Great video!

Lora Lacey this is how it is at my home too. We have a rabbit rescue. My son is 8 he also has a bunny, he helps with his bunny but the care is my job. I supervise him when he plays with the bunnies & he’s not allowed in the bunny area unsupervised.
@theloralai

Yeah! I get sad when I see people say bunnies aren't for households with kids. Sure, young kids shouldn't be responsible for their care and there should be supervision but it can work so well. Our kids are 5, 4, and 18mo, and even the 18mo is exceptionally gentle with our buns. Teach boundaries, teach proper bun care/handling, have safe areas for your buns, and there's no reason you can't have both young kids and buns.
@TiffanysBunnyGang
@TiffanysBunnyGang 4 жыл бұрын
Lora Lacey agree, it’s all in how you teach your children, knowing boundaries & understanding proper animal care. I don’t like to see parents get young kids bunnies and expect them to care for them but they can make a wonderful family pet 😁 I talk about this in some of my videos.

"Be the one who rescues and they will rescue you". This is so true. I rescued my bunny from a family that bought him for their kid and he didn't want to take care of him so I took him. I suffer from depressions but with him around it's easier to live because whenever I feel like crap he comes to me and cuddles to me and licks my tears away and then everything seems better. I thought I was the one that saved him in the beggining but actually he is saving me every day. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be here anymore. He keeps me going. DaDinoDancer :p that’s great & will definitely make the transition easier. Just the act of switching environments can be very stressful on a bunny. I still suggest having a pen setup for when you first bring her home. For example my daughter brought one of our bunnies to her dads house. She got very stressed. She stopped using her litter box & started biting my daughter which she never did before. This is just a suggestion based on my experience from the many bunnies I have rescued & brought into my home. Congratulations on your new bunny! Being a bunny parent is the best! 🐰❤️

Hey everylenny, I recently adopted a 3yr old bun who wasn’t wanted by their owners anymore. For the first two days all he wanted from me was cuddles. However his old owners never gave him any greens and the moment he tried a piece of Romanian lettuce that’s all he ever wanted from me. In the first day he sat with me for hours on end letting me pat him and he would chase after me asking for more pats. But now if I don’t have any food he’ll just leave. Maybe this is normal but I really miss the old Apollo. (He has known me because he was my cousins rabbit)

I'm getting a Flemish Giant soon and I'm doing as much research as I can! I find animal care and PROPER animal care really important. I never get an animal before doing an intense amount of research and only when I know I'm ready and financially capable of taking care of an animal. Thank you for making these educational videos

pastelribbons I’ve kept my bunny in my garden for 8 years now. Just make sure they can’t escape the garden and get get to any harmful plants. It’s totally okay to keep them outside, just make sure they are safe from the weather and such and spend a few hours outside with them or connect their pen to the back door so they can wander inside!

my rabbit hates being inside if we bring him in, when we open our patio door through summer, he comes in as he pleases and he doesnt chew anything, in my opinion, aslong as there safe in the garden, its fine-

My boyfriend went to a poultry place (slaughterhouse) yesterday, to buy chicken. I couldn’t believe they sell rabbits for people to eat. All of them were beat up and mistreated, my bf ended up buying one of the rabbits to save his life. I wish I could take all 😫 but I’m so happy to have this little guy with us. This video helped thank you

My boyfriend recently got me a lion-lop buck ! I’m only 15, & my parents are totally on board with it. I go off to college in less than two years, though I already take college courses so I will only have to do two years of college. I’m going to be living in a temporary apartment close to the college so luckily I can still take him with me!! I’m so excited to get him on Monday. I have binge watched ALL your videos & I know exactly how to take care of a bunny now. I’m giving him free range in my room (which is pretty big)! But I do have a sectioned off space for him if he wants to be more alone. 😁

Random but I'm really fucking proud of you for being so on top of college stuff at the age of 15. I'm a finishing freshman in college and looking back I get so scared for my Highschool schoolmates who didn't give a fuck about it, like, ever. I wish you the best of luck, and I hope your bunny lives a long and happy life.

I found a lop in my backyard and now he’s my sweet baby. He gets so excited to see me. I do house him outside because my husband doesn’t like inside pets but he has his own spot in my chicken coop and watches the chickens a lot kind of judging them or something . I go out there all the time to pet him and give him veggies and interact with him. We had him in the house for like a month though so I could litter box train him and bond and stuff and he would literally just watch us all day. He makes nests in his hay and stuff too climbs on boxes. I have never thought of getting a rabbit but I love having a rabbit. We have some wild rabbits in our yard too and I plant a rabbit friendly vegetable garden meaning veggies that they don’t touch like tomatoes and they find shelter under my tomato forest and have their babies and stuff. It’s pretty fun.
