Olly heads back to Motion Motorsport in his Honda Civic Type R EP3 to get the nut and bolt check up that is part of the service that Motion offer after having the underside fully restored. Whilst the filthy car is up in the air. Dave breaks down absolutely everything you could want to know about setting up a car to make it the perfect B road car. This is one step beyond just the fast road set up and Dave talks through what each part does and the benefits behind doing each one. The EP3 Type R already handles great as a standard car from Honda but all of these modifications take the car to another level. If you want a raw driving experience from a practical hot hatch, this is the ultimate way to do it with a daily angled EP3.

just had my ep3 underside restored, very similar job done with yours as is with mine, due for an alignment and ride height setup now. very cool watching someone go through a similar process with the same car!!

Maybe a rack raiser as well and a solid steering rack bush to take out any play and keep steering arms at same angle.

Spot on that 👏🏻 My ep3 is the cosmic gray behind yours in the video . Its in for all the same treatment but its also having a owen developments custom built turbo bolted on to a freshly built low comp motor set up for fast road use 🏁🏁🏁 P.s thanks for the vlogs 👍🏻

This is the way I’m looking at it… I would rather know it all before buying anything so you can save money on installing. This info gives you the shortcut that means you don’t need to buy twice… which means… SAVING you money long term! 😂😂😂

The subframe is not moving! Its the spring effect you are eliminating by center out the subframe with the subframe rigid collar kit.

On the fence to go further with mine or go dc5, i do love the car it’s not riced clean with decent parts on it, been at motion last year for health check and geo they said it’s clean but for me to warrant taking it to the next level ie full super pro kit, lsd maybe shorter final drive etc i would want them to do the underside restoration too which makes me think the money for resto could go towards a dc5!

That is a tough one. I guess if your heart is after a DC5 then you should probably go for that before sinking more money into your current car. However... the DC5 will need this kind of work eventually too!

Does an engine spring mitigate the vibration you get on the engine by mounting energy engine mounts ?

I don't think it would because the engine mount inserts basically connect more of the mount to the car. That way you would feel more from that point of contact.

I’ve just picked one up and I’d have to say it’s worth it. Focus on getting one with a clean underside before mileage as that is what kills these cars

I don’t think so looking at it. I already had the JDM one because of the Spoon manifold but I reckon you will be fine with the UKDM one

Not a word about steering geometry and steering rack, which is really one of weakest things in civic suspension. Are you really satisfied with the way car steers? One EP3 i've driven had a LOT of steering complience and bumpsteer, which was not was really pleasant to drive.

This is worst case scenario of dirty I reckon. Wet muddy roads with no rain driving to wash that away. I now want a lift more than I did before so that I can actually get under the car to clean it! Haha

@@OllyRoss Dont take it too serious tho, I would look at EP3 pov's every single day if youtube had enough of them. I'm enjoying all of ur vids even tho the driving vids are just gold, especially yours. I daily drove my ep3 for almost 3 years until last month with the winter. just decided to retire her as I found a small civic 1.4 sport and keep my type R mint in the garage. getting close to 100k miles with it and still spotless/rust free all stock from first owner, So lucky to find such a gem. after going back to normal cars I really realised how crazy those little beast are, even stock. So I kinda need pov drives to cope only driving my type R twice last month
