I filmed this BEFORE the Saber Rail & GRS Bipod combo was developed (and you will see details about those products in other people's videos) but I will say that they work GREAT with this setup. The top-mounted bipod creates a very stable platform. And to answer some other questions I anticipate will pop up: YES, the tensioner will be available for other barrel lengths, YES the 800mm barrel will be available for other calibers up to .35 and YES I will be using this setup for RMAC PRS, shooting slugs;)

I may be 2 years late, but I got it clear thanks to Hein, you, and FX for working together on the development of this Kit and your informative video. It's time to change the game in competition. Once again thank you very much!

I haven't found any other airgun site or channel that presents information so well and gives so much time to the development and practical progress in airgun technology. Congratulations Matt and Hein, FX and Roelf on the slug development and testing aspects. There is no real need for another comment, but this is the second time I have watched this video because there is so much that I am learning from it.

Thanks for another excellent video, Matt. I got my first pellet gun in 1960 at age 12 and have been rather obsessed with airguns ever since, including their significance in history. Absolutely love the content Matt! Your content is the main reason I started getting into airguns and I love how you use them in real world hunts and situations but also have the educational side too, for someone like me who is brand new to the air gun world I really appreciate the explanations of how to do things and set things up, it really helps me understand everything and get a better idea on the ballistic and technical side of it too. Keep up the good work Matt!

Well done Matt. It is always a good day in "school" when you explain the advancements in our sport. I just recently purchased my first FX and am totally in love with it after just a couple of dozen shots. I got the Wildcat MKIII BT in .22. Eventually, I will have an impact and I look forward to building it with the latest improvements/add ons. Vote is out on the caliber right now but thinking .30 as I would like to compete in the bench rest at RMAC, etc. Thanks so much for all that you and people like do for us.

I'm new to air guns, I'm an archery and powder gun guy for what seems like for ever. Got into air guns because our son wanted to help grandpa with his pest control problem (chipmunks and now ground hogs). I got him a .177 cal barrel break that we love to shoot, but need to get him and his sister a smaller youth size gun for them. I'm looking a a couple different guns for them and a couple for myself (for me in .22 to .30 cal) to do some small game hunting this year. This video was very interesting to me; with powder rifles I prefer longer barrels typically, that there is so much you can do to improve your setup! Great video and impressed how much collaboration went into this 800mm barrel! Very nice to see that people still share ideas if for nothing else as their love of the sport!

@Duke Smith Where would the assumption that I watched it all come from? Nevertheless, the point is: The collabos with different manufacturers had a big positive impact on Matt and this channel in general, but in my mind, he stray far from what this channel used to be. There was a time when this channel wasn't as much commercialy, but content-driven. Sure, it's a subjective observation, and without any doubt, he deserves what this channel provides him with. Yet, it's not for me anymore.

A lot of work and again extra cost and another variable for tuning, just because of a weak, thin barrel. Just make a decent rigid barrel that keeps aim even if you bump it to something.
@fishing4happiness610

I agree...I understand the nature of the smooth twist rifling requires a thin wall, but the barrels should come sleeved and tensioned for the premium prices charged. This nickel and dime tactic is very frustrating.

Great air rifles but i think the greatest marketing con. You lash out two and a half grand for a rifle and straight away you have to spend lots more just to achieve what you bought the rifle for. Imagine if Blaser or CZ produced rifles that needed upgrades before you open the box they would be out of business.

Hi Matt, great videos! Hey I have a FX Impact M3 with 800 mm barrel .35. Which I just got in Dec 2022. I have made a few mods to it, I added the saber Backbone rail and the GRS over bore bi-pod. I am only using pellets right now. "Exact .35, 81.02gr" with factory tuning. 870 fps/30.3 ft lbs. My question is do pellets need a tensioned barrel or should I add that when I go to slugs? Also from what I have been reading it seems like I should be doing a little better velocity and power.....

Hi matt, If I was to buy an fx impact/maveric from patriot would you be able to de-tune it to sub 12? I only ask because if I buy a rifle from fx or buy one in the UK they are essentially half a gun with no power plenum, no power wheel, no valve adjust basically no tuneablity at all....

Most of all the review to a pcp talk about the specs of the gun, information that is provided by the manufacturer on there website or how accurate is the gun that is which you can verify by trying one, that is to own one. There is so few that explain about the HOW and WHY on the deff parts of the gun.. a designer's perspective is really very informative to watch..

Matt dubber.. Am I getting this right? From what I understand the power stuff is more for 600-800mm barrels? Where the more air doesn't really work with a 500mm barrel.... because you get more air time from adding a heavier hammer so the valve stays open longer so you can lower reg pressure and still get the air needed for +600mm barrels.? My MK 2 with a 35cal valve housing, 500mm barrel, reg 140, line 4, V2 port, 10gn at 1095fps, 16gn at 965fps. So I won't get much benefit from the power kit.?

Preferred to see the shroud screw right onto action or chassis. That way the barrel will not flex and stability not an issue when bang or lean the barrel against tree. Other airgun manufacturers already doing that by screwing the barrel right to the chassis.

A couple of folks have mentioned that simply making the barrel stiffer would obviate the need to go to the need for a barrel tensioner. Presumably it is because a stiffer barrel would have to be thicker and therefor heavier, or is it something else? Perhaps the nature of how the FX barrels are made prevents them from being thicker?

Hello my friend, I have a question regarding the difference in speed at different temperatures with the same regulation. For example, my gun was firing at 270 ms (885 FPS) regulated at a temperature of about 32 Cº (90 F), I had it stopped for about 1 month and I went to shoot and the gun was only 255 MS (826 FPS) ), but the temperature was around 15ºc (59F), I even changed some orings thinking it was a leak but it wasn't the case. Is all this variation normal? OR is something wrong?
