I lost my budgie today😪. I had him for 7 years. He got sick yesterday,kept falling off and started vomiting,he could not even keep his eyes open. I moved him to a different cage. His mate kept searching for him the whole day. So I kept his cage beside the main cage just before he died. He was going to be a father a month ago but the eggs did not hatch. Its was heartbreaking to see him in such pain. I m so devastated right now but I know that he is free of any pain now and is now flying freely in heaven. I pray that the female recovers from this loss without much pain 😪 Hope to see my budgies in heaven again.

Some tips! ♥ Buy a vitamin supplement to put in their food/water, *especially* if they will not eat fruits/veggies/sprouts which have essentially nutrients/minerals. Seeds alone will not provide enough nutrition! ♥ Leave the cage open when you're home so they can fly around, but make sure the room is safe, first. ♥ Make sure they get enough exercise and/or flight time each day! Just like any other animal, they need to move around and exercise their muscles to prevent disease. ♥ You can make toys out of paper towel/toilet paper rolls, yarn, cloth, paper, and other safe materials. No reason to spend $10 on a little toy you can make at home! ♥ I used old t-shirts I no longer wear to line the bottom of her cage. Every week, I just shake/scrape it off, replace and wash it! I know it sounds gross, but budgie poop is minimally gross, from what I've experienced. No smell, and it's easy to scrape off with a stick or paper towel. ♥ Know what is safe to feed your budgies, and what kind of substances can be harmful. Teflon pans can kill a bird; the fumes they emit when you cook with them are fatal to all birds! Never feed them any kind of bread, animal products, sugars, salts, processed starch, garlic or onions.

We found a stray budgie. It just flew straight into our workplace (I work in a commisary kitchen) and stayed there. We had to catch it as it is not allowed to have any kinds of animals in food prep areas. Now I'm taking it home. Your video will help me a lot since I never took care of budgies before.

I’ve got a question: 1. How do I know if my budgie is sleeping/sleeping well?
@josephbennett34824 жыл бұрын
The best way to tell is if there's no noise coming from the cage at night it's most definitely sleeping and during the day if it's happy and alert then it got it's rest during the night. Don't uncover the cage to peek at it to see if it's sleeping because you will scare it , they have excellent hearing and are always on alert especially at night when it's dark since they can't see too good in low light or complete darkness and they are very vulnerable to predators at night and are easily spooked.

I've seen on another video that a good way to tell if your budgie is sleeping well is to put a piece of paper on the bottom of the cage at night. All the droppings should be in the same spot the following morning if your budgie is sleeping well, it shows he has not been moving around

Seeds are great for wild birds because they're high in fat and wild birds get lots of exercise but pet birds don't get nearly as much exercise because they aren't flying around nearly as much so appellate diet is usually better for them or even if you can figure out a good recipe for chop that's great for them

I'm in the taming process with my budgie Rio, he's only at the stepping up part, but I would like to know what kind of iteams are dangerous to them? He would be confined in my room, and i have candles, wax warmers, lamps, and a fairly large mirror. Is any of this bad?
@dianecarr64014 жыл бұрын
A resounding YES! The candles are a definite no, no. Rio can fly into them and get burnt. The same goes for the wax warmers! The lamps may be a problem if you have high wattage bulbs, 40 to 60 watts should be no problem. He will probably perch on the shade or the curtain rod. The mirror may be a problem at first because he will think that he can continue to fly towards it thinking it is the room. That is why birds will fly into windows because they have no conception that there is glass blocking the path. they just see the trees outside and think that they can fly right to them and land on a branch.
@poikm62814 жыл бұрын
candles (unless unscented soy) are very dangerous along with wax warmers! many things can harm their immune system. look it up! maybe cover the mirror until u show the bird that they can’t fly through it. some plants aren’t safe as well.

1 question I have is can budgie be traveled on an airplane.
@popipo164 жыл бұрын
@RehanChamp999 first you have to think about your budgie. Is your budgie comfortable or used to you and wont be stressed out? Also another question is how long will is your flight a budgie can only stay a few hours alone. Your budgie will have to ride beside you since he can get stressed out if it is placed with the rest animals. If all the answers are yes you are ready to fly with your bird
@Mateolouden4 жыл бұрын
It is possible but I wouldn't recommend it as it can get stressed out and the change in air pressure could easily distort or make it dizzy. If you want to travel I would recommend a car with it beside you or another bird as this will make your bird(s) alot more comfortable and less stressed.

Good luck my friend! I've had my budgies for nearly two years now and I didn't want to train them until they got used to my hand when I clean/change their food/water bowls and started perching on my hand! I started training them 2 weeks ago I think.

Clipping is never a good idea, I got a pair of lovebirds who had never been touched and there about 2 yrs he had them in the shed freezing,..everybody keeps saying you’ll never tame them,,well 2 weeks in and there doing lots for me, the first night I needed to get them to go into there cage I sprayed them with a mister bottle I did that 2 nights as soon as they land on there cage they know that I will stop, so now all I have to do is shake the bottle,...clipping is a cheap shortcut if a bird flying bothers you get a can....never clip wings,..I have a pigeon here also who lost a wing 4 years ago, he still dreams of flying, when he’s asleep he will start to flap his one wing and will fall over to his wingless side and spins till he wakes up all dazed and confused....a wet bird can’t fly but will when he drys and won’t hate you for it....and they do hold grudges

I'm so sorry for that pigeon and I hope no bird gets to experience the pain and stress but clipping depends on the owners situation really, you see, only clip you're birds wings if there are any dangers within a room. So they don't crash into a window and suffer and when I say clipping I don't mean "cutting a birds wing." I mean cutting the wing to a certain point where the bird can't fly high in the air.

2 weeks after I got a budgie (who was literally the nicest bird) my dog got into my room. I didn't even realize it. He attacked both of my birds and one of them didn't survive the attack. I feel so stupid for it.
