A tip for handlers new to boots, start them as puppies with baby socks! Have your puppy wear thin baby socks while you do something fun, and when you're puppy graduates to shoes it will be an easier transition!

That is a great idea! I always have just gone straight to boots 🤣 I bet my pups would have appreciated a slower transition.

I just got my dog some boots today. I found an originally $30 pair brand new at goodwill ($5 was the price I paid). A pretty great find. She's gotten used to them already. It did take a short amount of time before she could walk in them properly. I'd say it was a pretty good purchase all in the intention of keeping my dogs paws safe

I just got my SDIT Skye some boots because we don’t live in Hawaii right now and Texas weather is crazy so she needs them 😅 but yea I’m also having to retrain her to still do her cues and tasking while in boots. She’s a little slower about it right now but seeing improvement. Definitely being a sweet angel for being so patient with me while I was sizing her boots and having her try on different brands and fits. The baby socks do help! I figured this out because I have babies and figured I needed to protect the dew claws since a lot of people say they get injuries to the dog’s foot from that. Much love and great advice!! 🐕🌺

I saw boots on a dog that was attached across the back and across the front attached to the boots then attached in between the two front and back. I asked where to find those type of dog shoes and got no answer from the poodle owner. Kind of like the pant straps men use to attach to their pant tops and cross in the back but not in the front.

Those are dangerous from what I understand because they’re pulling on the dogs back.

Joel will have blue ruffwares and the matching blue swamp cooling coat. I love blue and it's an awareness color for me, so he's going to wear a lot of it lol.

Myservice dog Edison wears boots everytime he works! He always has. We will go no vest but never no boots!!!!

Edison wears fantastic zone or petaco brand because he has dew claws and that was an issue for the ruffwear boots. We do socks for the hot summer helps with the sweating. We have boots in black, blue, red, another black with yellow, orange, and purple. We have a sign/cue for putting them on and off..just tap twice on the foot like a horse and he picks up his foot..he then turns around for the other side.

My girl used to be very good in her ruffwear boots(same color and style) during training...now not so much, she refuses to sit on command or lay down in my car, were working on it

It’s weird how they go through phases like that. If we don’t practice tasks in boots somewhat often, my pup “forgets” how to do things too.
