I am SOOO SORRY to hear that! My S.O. and I recently went through losing our WONDERFUL Butchy! He would have been 12 next month but he had a collapsing trachea! We (including Butchy!) had dealt with it for around 2years-daily (Narcotic!) cough meds and ANY exertion was met with a horrid sounding cough! (Like whooping cough!) Anyhow, NO matter whether they have an ailment or not, we still MISS him terribly.....We could NOT love him more if we’d given birth to him ourselves!!! Take care of yourself; it’s ok to grieve! We had two pugs, a male and a female. They both lived long lives, the female passing at 14 and just recently our male had to be put down at 16. We made food for them, healthy stuff, and feel that added to great coats and nails, happy pooches, and long lives. They are both sorely missed.

Aww. I also cook the food for my pug. What did you feed your pugs? I boil cod, fresh salmon file, sweet potatoes, broccoli, eggs, carrots and zucchini. For treat I give him yoghurt, banana, coconut oil, peanut butter and different type of melons during summer.

I have a 5 month old Pug and she is fully of energy. She is very clingy and does not like when I walk away…she is at my heels all the time and it has taken some time to get used to. But, she is a cutie and I can tell that she is full of love.

We have a pug. Could run and jump on a desk but we purchased stairs when he got older. Extremely loyal. Wants to be greeted upon arrival and then he relaxes. When young loved to play tug-of-war. Acted like he’s going to bite my hands but never bit down. He just wanted to play. Very gentle and lovable, but hates the weatherman on TV and barks at him whenever he comes on (Mark Finan). We used to have a pug who was a rescue and snored like a traction engine. Refused point blank to get up in the morning before 11 a.m. if you dared to disturb she would wake up in a total stroppy mood.

@@astrodiiva8557 Hi Melody. We had her at the vets when we rescued her about the sounds she made when sleeping. We where quite concerned. She got a head to toe check. We were told she was in good health and had an extremely good airway. To be honest with you we thought the same as you. She was having problems breathing. It was just her being a pug breed. We were told she had been used for breeding purposes. We had her spayed very quickly. If you are thinking of getting a pug one thing to think about for a small dog they have a wind problem. She could clear a room quite easily.

I have had my 13 yo pug for 6 years. He has trauma and it’s very hard to make him eat. But he’s still very active for his age and we go on a walk everyday. I love him so much and we have a special bond considering the trauma he got from his past family. I know there isn’t much time left for him, it scares me.

They absolutely hate getting their nails cut far more than any other dog I've ever owned or been around. Thankfully they are small and not terribly hard to restrain. But my pug started hurting herself in her later years and we had to get her sedated every time we cut her nails.

Hey. My pug just had corneal ulcer 2 days ago. He'll be 8yo next month. He's on medications as prescribed by the vet.. but there's no or very little improvement. He's not able to see anything and stays at one spot for the whole day. Seeing him this way breaks my heart. I feel soo helpless . I hate seeing him suffer this way he don't deserve this.. And somewhere it scares me that maybe its the beginning of the end. Btw How long did your pug lived after this disease?

I enjoyed your video. I could do without the thorough history, but I am aware of all the trivia presented here. I had a female pug from a puppy too young to be separated from her mom to around ten years when I recently lost her! One thing that I feel is absolutely essential to know in caring for the pug is the need for a proper harness whenever you walk them or transport them. A leash will not do. As tough as these 4 legged footballs are; the pull of a leash can easily cause unlimited possible bone, back, and/ or muscle injuries that all tend to have permanent physical as well as emotionally damaging results. So a new pug owner must get a harness immediatly after they get their new pug!!!!

I’ve been asking my parents for a pug or any dog for a long time already. They are really hard to convince. I told them for years now I really want a companion but they never get me one. I know it’s hard work and I have to be very responsible, they just never let me get a chance to get a dog. Though, if I do get one, I promised them I would take care of them every day. I just put my pug down, she was 15 years old. I have a German Shepherd and they say German shepherds shed a lot, after not having the pug for a few days I realized it was the pug who was shedding not the German Shepherd. A Layer of hair every day. I bought a robot vacuum and mop to keep up with it. My German Shepherd seems boring compared to my pug, I’m already thinking about getting another one.

pugs need lots of exercise not moderate, they're a very capable breed, just make sure you gradually increase walks etc.. not on hot days. i can walk mine for 3hrs at a time and they love it
