Throughout the years I’ve mostly used running for my mental health and it even pulled me out of a depression a couple years ago. So I’ve never really been that consistent with it and I never ran more than 4-5k but before this summer my two sisters and I signed up for a 10k race, so all summer I’ve been on a training schedule to reach that 10k. It certainly came with its ups and downs, but it’s all been worth it because I completed my first ever 10k tonight🥳🎉 But right now I’m just excited to be able to run when and how I want after this race, to do my mental health runs again😅 I’m definitely more open to pushing myself against new goals in my running but I’ve also become so much more confident in my ability to run!

Extremely helpful video! Your next video, you should do a rest/activity recovery video. I.e. Foam rolling and self care

This was so helpful Lucy!! 🙏❤️ I’m just now getting back into running after taking a break to recover from an eating disorder that had a big movement compulsion tied to it 💜. I can honestly and finally happily say that I love running again and do it for the right reasons now 🕊️🤍, that’s why I appreciated this video and all you had to say about running, especially that you also prioritize food and proper fuel. Oh, and I learned the hard way - socks definitely make a difference!!! 😣😆 sending big hugs and lots of love and support from LA! xoxo 🥰❤️💕💕💕🦋

Great video Lucy with some sound advice. Long story short, I used to regularly run 5k approx 6 years ago but stopped and have generally been in the gym or doing HIIT. I returned to running at the end of May and completed 5k, before quickly progressing to 10k. My legs are so much stronger which I can only attribute to the work in the gym. I do need to develop a better understanding of heart rate monitoring and the different zones. Oh and good luck with those injections 😢

Hey Lucy I’ve been struggling with a laberal tear in my hip along with tendinitis how did you deal with having an injury and getting back into running, some days are good for me some are bad, I’m in the NZ Army so I need to be able to run and have had this injury for 2 years now it’s getting to the point of almost surgery but I don’t want it lol (love your videos) ❤

Is the whoop recovery comparable to the garmin body battery/recovery info or do you find it useful to have both?

How do you listen to your music/podcasts whilst you run? Via your phone? I have signed up for a half marathon and I’m trying to figure this part out? I normally listen to music/podcast via my phone, that I have in a strap that sits in the centre of my chest…. But I’ve seen people where different vests for half marathons, for gels/water?….But I don’t think these vests carry your phone?

Trying to run with big boobs is rough 😢 I have to wear a high impact sports bra plus a tight-ish shirt or its painful. Great video ❤ I am working towards my first 5K. I find that rucking is easier for me. Running is hard but I can take a 20kg pack on my back for 8hours with minimal breaks no problem 😂

Back to the Woop.. Does your Garmin not tell you everything your Woop does? My Garmin does, it is a latest version so I think the newer ones do. Sleep HEV everything. Bin your Woop Lucy and upgrade your Garmin 😊

@@Amavrin I do work with whoop yes, I already worked with them for free for 9 months before this and bought myself the product. I’ve also worked with garmin. They’re the two best products on the market and I’m THANKFUL I get to promote how good they are 😁

No, I only use my garmin for performance stats for my runs / lifts. I use whoop for recovery, sleep, stress, strain & journalling daily. I don’t really like using my garmin for that sort of data, I find whoop a lot easier to use ie user friendly! Whereas my garmin will show me run splits & times for example. My garmin shows this data too so I don’t need to upgrade, I just much prefer the whoop😊 And I don’t fancy binning it thanks when it’s my favourite training accessory 🤣

"A tempo run is where you're running at a set pace for a period of time" Based on your definition of a tempo run, this makes almost any run a tempo run. Any run besides fartlek running is usually ran at a set pace for a period of time. I feel like your interpretation of Tempo running can be very misleading for new runners. Technically a 'Tempo' run, A.K.A. a Theshold run is actually based of/around your lactate threshold, via blood lactae measurements etc..., and the relevent pace at this intensity. For most individuals this is usually around 4mmol/L, which is the maximium pace that runners should be able to sustain for up to ~1hr. Just a bit of constructive feedback. ☺
@LucyDavisFit
@LucyDavisFit Жыл бұрын
Hey this is helpful thanks! But I do give examples for the tempo runs so people know what they are - 5k pace for a set period, 10k pace for a set period, your RPE should be 7/8 or more, pushing hard. Then gave an example of 26k at marathon pace 😊 so we know it’s not any run, they’re set paces, and most people won’t be measuring their lactate as this isn’t easy to do, but yes I agree I should have mentioned lactate and threshold 🎉❤
@paulop3730
@paulop3730 Жыл бұрын
@@LucyDavisFit Fair enough. I don't routinely measure lactate myself, but I think it can be important and intresting, especially for newer runners, to understand where the general concept stems from, which will essentially enable them to train more effectively. I would personally argue that unless your an elite runner, you can stiil see huge fitness gains and enjoy running to the fullest without specifically measuring lactate. Still an enjoyable and insightful video nontheless. 😊♥
