I was a gym girl before I got into marathons so this video has been super helpful for me, thank you Lucy! I am passionate about both and I honestly think the gym has helped me stay injury free for the past 5 years I’ve been running - but sometimes I find it hard to navigate the to. I also want to get into swimming this summer so would love some advice for beginners! ❤

5:10 oh bless you for this, yes- energy deficit running could lead to RED-S, hormonal disruptions, injury, catabolism, or other sorts of disharmony.

I did ball sports growing up and gymnastics, and I would always struggle during the cardio workouts sessions when my teams were just out running for an hour. I got bored and needed the motivation of chasing a ball or run toward an object in gymnastics at the right speed to be able to get up at it and start the routine. As an adult, it’s lovely to head out for a run after a stressful day at the uni. flipping through the law book. Love your channel and how you explain things so those of us who aren’t on your level, still can understand how things are done and why technically ❤ / Scandinavian

Been running and lifting for years. Have a good base but need to drop 20-25 pounds. 5’9 and change but 215 to 220. Pr for a half was 20 years ago but weighed 185. Goal is 190 to 195. starting a new routine this week. Legs on Monday, push and 3 mile run in Tuesday. Pull on Wednesday, interval or tempo on Thursday, rest Friday, longish run on Saturday. Rest Sunday. Like to train for half marathons but want to maintain strength and shrink the belly fat. Hoping to get close to my half pr before I hit 60 years old 😊. And, great channel, very motivational !!

Really good advice that I can actually follow. Sometimes I get frustrated with myself as a beginner because I want to do it "all" but it takes time to build that endurance and strength

This is really helpful. I run a lot and I go to the gym a lot as well, but sometimes I struggle to recover. I have a marathon and 3 ultras this year, so I'm trying to get it right! So far managing to finish all my races, but the training goes better than the actual race....look forward to more of your videos!

Definitely relating to the benefits of performance focus rather than aesthetics! Always really nice to go into the gym not caring what I look like and just lift heavy weight 😅

i got a new job and do fysicall labor now for 6 months and it took me like 4 months to get acostumed to it with my training. i had to lower my volume to 1/3 in the beginning. i was already training hard for 2 years and i still coudnt keep up the new impact it had on my body. for everyone starting out give yourself time te get acostumed, you'll get there. Now after 6 moths im lifting and running harder than before my new job.

Great video and excellent tips! 🙌 I got value out of this, as I have always loved how running makes me feel, but I stopped when I became fixated on the aesthetics. I am now focusing on my mental health, too, and finding a balance.

Amazing video Lucy, as usual 😊 love the new garage gym!! A quick feedback on the camera angle - the vertical wooden panels on your wall have a pattern that is a bit straining to the eye. It made it difficult for me to not squeeze my eyes when watching the video if it makes sense 🤣 just my two cents of course. You're amazing! X

Hey Lucy! Love this video. Thank you for sharing. I've started back running. I was lifting and scared to run because I thought I'd lose lots of muscle. Not that I'm a tank but ya know just thinking that would happen. However not the case feeling good within my health and strength. Thanks for so much information you give! Pls more vids on eating! They are great to see that you can be in a surplus while running and lifting ❤

That calorie calculator gave some pretty extreme low calories maintaining and for weight loss, I needed about 1900 cal to loose 6kg on MFP and that weight came off very quickly so those numbers were a bit scary to me! I’m maintaining at about 2120 atm which is comfortable and sustainable, I will up the calories more if I start distance running again

I’ve been back running since January and have built up some miles each week around 20-30 miles a week I’m running. I don’t know what it is but no matter how slow I run I can’t get my heart rate to come down and always seem to be running in zone 4 or 5. Do you have any idea what this could be or any tips thanks X

when you run and workout the same day, how many hours is there between sessions? or you can jump in right after one another?

I saw a video by Natacha Oceane where she said for muscle growth it might be best to leave at least to leave 2 hours between sessions especially if you're doing lower body, but for upper body I also prefer to go straight in so I don't sweat twice xx

Hey! I love your videos and your podcast!! I’m sort of new to running! I did run the London marathon this year which was incredible and ive now got the goal of doing all the world majors! I do lift too, but only to help my running! I have really been struggling with recovery and eating properly. I think I undereat because I fear weight gain and then I feel like on some nights I eat so much and it reminds me of binging. Would you be able to do a video talking through any tips to help with that?
