I love my 1st Gen Xb! I don’t ever plan on selling my Xb. This has been the most reliable car I’ve ever owned.

I had an 06 xb release series 3. The green one. It was so reliable. I did 2 cross country trips and no issues at all. Just oil changes and tires. Unfortunately a dude in an f150 ran a red light and tboned me totalling my ride with 203,000 miles. I was uninjured but the car was wrecked!!! Now i own a honda element. I am happy but miss my xb!!!

@@rashb3994 the scion was more reliable for sure ,got better gas mileage and is faster. The element is bigger and more capable and had more accessories. I think i liked my scion a little more. Both are great vehicles and can go 300k miles easily. The scion i did nothing but oil changes and i mean nothing. My element ive replaced the starter twice, alternator, i had an oil leak, front bushings and a few other things. The motor and transmission are fine though.

Bought one in 2004. It looks like a tool shed on wheels, has 240,000 miles on it and still delivers consistent problem-free transport. Car has been all over the western US from Seattle to Texas and everywhere in between,, all over Mexico and even in parts of Guatemala. Still has the original water pump, starter, etc. Aside from several windshields and rear hatchback door handles (ugh!), tires, batteries and brake pads I've only needed to replace the motor mounts and the stupid K&N air intake system my ex-wife insisted on when we bought it. I regularly have strangers ask me if I'm interested in selling it. Not a chance. This car will outlive me!

Still have my '04. Mine's burgundy. Bought it with 50K miles on it, and added another 315K to it without doing anything more than regular oil changes. Recently swapped out the engine for a low mileae JDM replacement, and only decided to go that way because it was cheaper for me to do that than to do a tear-down and rebuild, and I was still getting 32mpg at 365K miles. The 1NZ-FE engines just keep on going.

Quick update. The Kelly blue book for my 06 Xb in 2019 was $200 trade in value with high mileage and some exterior damage. The buy/sell bulletin had them listed as little as $400. So instead of trading in, I just kept it as a second car. As of this post, the local trade in value in my area is $6000 even with high miles and with gas prices so high, I don't even drive the car I bought. Xb for the win!

Absolute fugly ride no question. I always thought they looked like a refrigerator with wheels but I always appreciated the toyota quality & utilitarian aspects of the car. As such I'm actually in the market for one now as a daily beater/kinda work truck. Now I could just barely tolerate the boxyness but man I'm gonna have to do something about the 30 foot extended front bumper. It makes the car look like it has a massive underbite. Goofiest aspect of the car. But I really hope theres an aftermarket solution for this otherwise I'll have to fab something up.

Good gas mileage but that’s about it. No engine temp gauge only a dummy light(really stupid), forget about a center arm rest(that thing nearly every other car has), barely enough horsepower to go up any hill anywhere, OEM trunk latch handle is made from cotton candy, driver leg room is designed for dwarves. Yes you can scoot the seat back but the steering wheel doesn’t come forward at all. Road noise is horrendous, better crank up your music when on the highway. Suspension is nonexistent, you could feel running over a pebble with this “ergonomic toaster.” Horn sounds like a fairy farting, good luck getting people’s attention. If you use your vehicle for work and drive long distances like me avoid this car.
