Everything You Need to Know About Uncle Owen for the Obi-Wan Kenobi Series

Excited to see the Owen character fleshed out a bit more in the show depending on how long we’ll be on Tatooine, as I feel that he is a character that is unfairly crapped upon because of how he kept Luke back from fulfilling his destiny. He’s not a bad person nor was he selfish, he was just thought he was doing what was best to ensure Luke stayed safe and didnt fall like Anakin. At worst, Owen is perhaps misguided.

Owen is one of the characters I'm most looking forward to exploring in a bit more depth. He's a bit of an interesting situation where I get why he's so protective of Luke and hesitant to trust Obi-Wan but also I think he definitely takes it too far such as confronting Obi-Wan after he helped the family. It will be very interesting to see how their dynamic is in the show and whether Owen will be helpful to Kenobi when the Inquisitors show up or if he'll put his prejudices aside in the interest of protecting Luke and be an ally because ultimately, they have the same goal of keeping him safe. I also hope Beru gets some time in the spotlight too, again that's a dynamic I'd really like to explore. Owen is also one of those characters who gets a **lot** of flack and hate online... for some reason. I don't understand it at all but a lot of people have beef with him. Apparently they take those early drafts of Owen being physical with Luke as the actual version even though nothing like that has actually happened and take issue with the fact that Owen had Luke working on the farm, which makes no sense. Like I said I don't get it but I hope the Kenobi series gives a lot more understanding to his character for that reason

An Owen moment l always loved was in the Legends comic Star Wars Vision (not to be confused with the Visions Anime). The Old Wounds story tells an alternate version of Maul and Obi-Wan’s duel on Tatooine that takes place on the Lars Homestead. Owen recognizes the danger Maul presents to Luke and manages to blindside him with a blaster, killing him. I’m wondering if a similar event will occur in the Kenobi show where Owen will personally protect Luke from an Inquisitor.

I've never seen lars as anything more than a character to get the story of a new hope started. That picture of him staring down the inquisitor, no sense of intimidation present, has shown me he has potential for a way deeper character

I remember an old video like back in 2012 I think where the Prequels were re-written and in their version, Owen is the best character that never was. To make a long story short, their version was a Clone Wars veteran who joined the fight because he was inspired by the exploits of Anakin the "Skywalker".

Owen Lars was a great character for Luke’s development I always wished Owen was more sympathetic and gentle with Luke but I also see why he was so hard on him

I know Owen Lars has good intentions to overprotect Luke Skywalker, and possibly to prevent that suffers that same fate of his father Anakin Skywalker, but it's terribly unfair for him to blame what happened to Anakin on Obi-Wan, and worse, to make him feel even more guilty than he already is for not having stopped Anakin from going to the dark side. But I still believe that this overprotectiveness of Luke has very solid real bases, like Darth Vader and his Inquisitors.

I already have a different attitude towards A New Hope now that I have seen what modern technology can do to improve what George Lucas so brilliantly created 45 years ago. Of course, I'm referring to the SC-38 fan-created enhanced Kenobi-Vader lightsaber duel by FXitinPost. I hope George has seen it, I'm sure he has, it's brilliant and highly emotional.

Uncle Owen no one cared about after the Bar B Q. He's not ever mentioned by Luke feeling broken up over him and Beru died.

Obi Wan: “no Luke, it’s too dangerous” but lets him dash off to the homestead on his own, potentially triggering severe dark anger in his new protégé. Then on Luke's return Obi Wan seems pragmatic, almost aloof. “There’s nothing you could have done”
