Also Apprentice illusion Magician is quite good as can Special Summon from hand by discarding a card then add 1 Dark Magician from Deck to hand or can save it in your hand and your Spellcaster who is battling gains a 2000 ATK/DEF powerup just for that battle.

I cant remember if i mentioned it in the video, but I really dont like apprentice. The -1 cost for a DM isnt worth it for me. I think apprentice was good when people used to run magicians navigation, which is dependent on having DM in hand but today having DM in hand is a brick. The attack boost is nice though 👌

Hi! I'm a very ancient Yu-gi-oh! player but have not touched the game for like 15 years+ but now I'm trying to get back on Master duel and love Dark Magician! It's a bit tough for me to memorize all these kind of combos but I must say your video is one of the most useful ones for me at the moment! cheers, i consider myself a good DM player (Not great) and i learned a couple of new combos. I didn't know about Imduk for example as a substitute from Timaeus. If i were to add 1 more is Odd Eyes Advance Dragon as can summon it by tributing a level 5+ monster (Dark Magician, Kashtira Fenrir etc), then destroy an opponents monster. After that it deals damage based on their original attack points then if you have Eternal Soul, it's a free summon of Dark Magician (much like using Imduk)

That's not a bad tech suggestion at all. The only thing is with the deck being so tight, inconsistent, and not very powerful (comparatively) it's hard to fit some cards in. Imduk is nice bc he doesnt take up a main deck slot.

Use verte anaconda to make the monster a dark type for mahad to destroy/finish off the life points of a enemy. Or make it dark for superpoly targets.

Not sure if it was mentioned I may have missed it if so but when Eternal soul is destroyed it wipes your monster zone, however if magician’s combination is set up properly you can negate that eternal soul effect and keep your field intact.

Yes that is true since combination can negate any eff by you or your opponent, but in this scenario wouldn't you just negate eternal soul getting sent in the first place lol.

Glad the video helped! It comes with time and practice. Dark magician isnt a combo heavy deck so you should get it fairly quickly, especially once you get more used to master duel. Lmk if you have any questions!

@@dotoroshinees well I think the only logical thing to do is see what your ratio of monsters to spells/traps is, maybe try to up the number of monsters. Now I know that pure DM only has two monsters (Souls and rod), so the next question is what spells and traps are u opening with. Maybe play fusion deployment to summon DM from deck, so if you have soul servant it can become useful that turn. Play 3 copies of preparation of rites to add IOC so u can make plays that way. I'd have to see your deck, which you can post in the discord, but this is my generic advice based off of what you've told so far. Hope it helps.

Yeah! The way i used anaconda in the first duel is probably what you'll do 90% of the time. Summon rod, special summon souls, link to anaconda, go dpe. Hopefully you'll have your backrow set too with circle and eternal soul. For the master of chaos combo, that's in the second duel. You need ioc and souls/rod. Use ioc to search for the one u don't have, put a card on top of deck(not ioc), summon DM with souls, use rod to search for secrets, fuse into master of chaos, use eff to summon Dm, link rod to artemis, tribute dm and Artemis to banish your opponents monsters.

against the uni zombie you made a mistake, if you are playing Mahad always activate first the effect of The Dark Magicians and then the rest of your cards, because if it happens to draw Mahad with The Dark Magicians in a chian 2 or something it will misstimed and cannot be special summoned

However climbing the ranks been a pain in the back lately because of Spright Decks, i dont know how to win against them, i usually just surrender. theres one time i won by master of chaos effects banishing every single monster on their field but thats it, a single win out of prob 100. now im stuck in gold :(. help

Sprights are hard to beat and with Tear coming soon it's only gonna get tougher, which is why I prefer playing Branded DM. 2:55 Just a small nitpick, but it's not being chain blocked; your opponent declined to negate upstart with ash, so they missed their opportunity to prevent the draw add. If they recognized the soul servant effect though after you searched it, they absolutely should have ashed upstart, simce it was telegraphed with rod searching soul servant.

You're 100 % right it's not a chain block, that's the wrong term. What I was saying is that 9/10 times people don't play ash on an upstart goblin by itself. So when they decline, then you play servant. Leading with servant increases the chances they'll ash upstart. Thanks for clarifying!

Great question! Depends on what else is in your hand and what your plan is for the turn. Generally speaking, I like to go circle just to have more resources, especially if I have a way to draw the top card. If I have magician souls in hand, I may go into salvation from rod so that I can set eternal and then send salvation with souls for more draws.

Im not gonna lie to you all though the answer may be difficult for you to hear. Dark magician is a very bad deck unfortunately in master duel. No dragoon, branded fusion at 1, and awful support as of late. This video is kinda old now and DMs only gotten worse since then sadly.

Why use upstart goblin it's no garnet but it's still 2 useless draw cards which ends ya drawing one card in the deck everyone needs to use piercing darkness with dm dragon knight, it protects it with the eternal soul combo and boosts attack on a fusion or a normal monster depending the numbers of normal monsters for the fusion and lets you draw if you put dm on the board which is usually is a guarantee first turn summon.

Good question. Upstart is very important for the deck for the same reason as chicken game. It allows us to draw that top card stacked by soul servant or circle which can be very useful. Piercing is good but cant be searched and can be a brick in a lot of cases.

@@kingmahde1 I’ve used it to get out BLS and Avramax faster. Of course it requires you to get out a fusion monster right afterwards to utilize it. In other words, you have to pre plan.

@@DailyFluid terraforming isnt that necessary for the deck, especially since you dont need to play field spells with Dark magician. You can replace it with meta verse which has a similar effect but i would just add another hand trap like infinite impermanence or ash blossom. Good/powerful decks besides DM for beginners: altergeist, eldlich, cyber dragon, thunder dragon, evil twin, and the dreaded Floowandereeze. These decks are very easy to pick up. Hope this helps!

@@DailyFluid You're not bothering me at all! I love the questions! If you want my honest answer, Pure DM isnt as good as some of the decks I listed. None of them are too hard to play, but in terms of competing I would say the decks I listed are better than DM :(

Hey it's the only negate dm can have and can be set up with verte and fusion deployment a bit easier, so not a bad idea just inconsistent.

How can dm compete with the current meta competitively. I haven't played in over 10 years. DM and counter fairys are the only decks ive ever played. Looking at the current meta, its hard to justify playing DM when other archetypes have such insane setups. RE Dragoon alone doesn't seem strong enough, nd DM card advantage is so bad. I love DM, but i also like competitive games. I play magic the gathering, so im not new to competitive gaming. Any insight is appreciated.

Im not gonna mislead you, so I'll be completely honest and say it is not the most competitive. If you play dm in the current meta its bc you love DM. Using counters to the meta in your DM deck and the right plays you can compete, but like you said card advantage is bad for the deck. I play branded dm because it has a ton of synergy so maybe trying that would be better

@Mahde26 branded seems like the right fit. It's powerful and revolves strong dragons, which helps get dragoon. Cartisia seems like a great welcome for DM. Dusk dragon ND also send a DM, DMG, POM to grave, which is nice for soul servant or even btr if circle ND eternal soul are in play. The sanctified dragon also seems good to special out fallen to our side and dm to ur opp and fusion on fallen special summon. I'm just having a hard time learning the right lines or setup. Without going negative on card advantage. Edge imp seems like a good way to keep hand advantage, but can really screw with consistency.

@@alexrarellano You definitely have the right idea. The thing I've tried to do most is just keep it as consistent as possible, which is hard to do with all the anti tear measures I have to add to the deck (mask change, dd crow & soul drain). It's especially hard without dragoon in Master duel, but we are getting bystials and cartesia like you said which should help give a dragon to fuse with. I manage to get to diamond every season, but it's definitely a grind with our boi Dark Magician!

@Mahde26 I've contemplated going 3 crosscut designator ND x2 of each ash, droll, ND ghost ogre. I've tried to lean into a control variant of DM and played DM runick, but Im Too new to the game to pilot runick properly. If I come up with something that I notice works, I'll most definitely share it. Keep up the good work with the DM content. It really helped me to get to know the game as I was getting back into it!

Yeah when i copied it over, i took out timaeus and started focusing on link plays and the omni negate with combination. You can add any of the cards mentioned in the video, timaeus,imduk,armyllire.

Sometimes I don't even know the best way to start like whether to get Eternal Souls or Dark Magical circle first with Illusion of Chaos/Soul Servant. But this video helped a lot, plus I guess it just comes down to experience.

@@kingmahde1 fusion support cards. The decks theme revolves around Fusion and Rituals. Preparation and Deployment were solely made for DM. You can go the Ritual route or the Fusion but if the Fusion, its going to require Spells only. Floodgates makes your deck an optimized DM deck which makes it decent to survive only because of floodgates which in turn can hurt you as well. So its a gamble in how to build a deck.
