The compressed hemp-wood is a pretty cool idea. Not that anyone cares, but we buy big bales of vacuum-sealed shredded hemp bedding we use for our chickens. It's a much more sustainable choice than wood shavings because it lasts much longer even though it's a little pricier. It's also good for small pets that are normally sensitive to wood shavings because of dust or smell. I also like how they're using actual leather for the seats. My biggest issue with customizing a vehicle to my liking is the restriction automakers put on what interior color you can have with what exterior color is offered. I've always wanted a nice brown/tan/chocolate interior but they always make you choose white or black, the two most boring colors offered on anything. I want my nice tan interior with my choice of a nice red/orange or even some type of green or blue. Maybe even yellow. Is Scout going to do choice restrictions like everyone else? Because it's not customizing if you're forced to a locked package that's only able to be chosen with other stuff. I want to be able to choose my exterior color, choose which interior I want with which ever details I want and with whatever wheel design I want. I don't want some stupid performance racing package just because I want the black wheels. All trucks and SUV's capable of towing a trailer should come standard with a receiver hitch as well as a brake controller weather you tow a trailer or not. Especially with how expensive they are now.

I own a quad R1S and the Traveler delivers everything I wish the Rivian had - fully opening frunk with power outlets, buttons and dials instead of all touchscreen, front and rear lockers, integrated full size spare and potentially an integrated winch. The Traveler looks to be a true adventure vehicle, while I’ve always felt the R1S was a niche adventure pretender. Even if Rivian offers a similar variant, they’ve missed a huge window to appeal to a broader audience of truck and SUV buyers. With the gas range extender, the Traveler is going to take market share Rivian missed by not truly understanding the adventure market.

Few comments: 1. For a real EV offroader, I agree that it must have a gas or diesel range extender. 2. To me a range extender only needs to make enough power to cruise on the highway at ~85mph on flat ground. That means around 30hp to 50hp. When near mountains you could have the system programmed to charge the battery to say 25% to be prepared to climb a mountain pass. 3. Any in-line 2, 3, 4, 5... cylinder engine can have an oiling system to handle operating on its side (including a dry sump for minimum height). A boxer engine would fit nicely where a spare tire normally goes, but isn't required. 4. Sound quality is important. If it sounds like a lawnmower, chainsaw or whipper snipper, etc., I believe that would be a huge negative and would significantly harm sales.

I reserved the range extended terra and it being on par in size and performance with a 1500 I wonder if they will extend on that. It being body on frame and the whole "a true truck" talk they all did, it would be curious to see other truck layouts. A regular bed, a long bed, a single cab, stuff like that. I can't imagine we will see a single-cab but a regular bed would be nice since 5.5 foot is just a short bed and I would prefer the longer regular bed. Another thing I wonder about is if they will make a 3 row variant of the traveler. I'd imagine they will, and if they make a longer frame for a longer bed version of the terra they could make a direct Suburban competitor. Which could honestly be the first full size 3 row body on frame SUV to TRULY cut into suburban sales, because lets be honest, the Ford, Nissan, and Toyota options really don't make a blip to the GM siblings. It would also be nice if we see them scale it up, imagine a 2500 gas electric truck with those sturdy, un-overstylised (LOOKING AT YOU BIG 3) design would be a huge hit.

It's so refreshing to see a new EV platform with a ground-up design that isn't also trying to look ultra modern and futuristic. I love that they're sticking with the "old school" body on frame and solid rear axle design that off-road enthusiasts trust. It's so hard to take a 50+ year old design incorporate it into an all new vehicle and create something that looks fresh and appealing but still totally maintains the original dna. Scout did exactly that.

The Range Extended options for EVs, is 100% the way to go, utilizing small displacement ICEs, until H2 Fuel Cells become the norm. EV only is a flawed or incomplete integrated system design and leaves too much risk on the table for stranding a consumer. Remember consumers are the reason these are even necessary. Yes, packaging and maintenance are factors that determine form and fit. Keep up the good work TFL! Keep up the good work to Scout Motors, GM, Ford and Toyota. I challenge these auto manufacturers to remember Henry Ford's principles and volume in sales, minimal but reliable to it's core and less options ('Any color, as long as it's black' - keep it simple). These manufactures need to move on from the focus on High End. Scout Motors has nailed it, in these principles and concept.

Ive had the Mach E for coming up on 4 years - so I am used to driving an EV. Will the Scout get the tax breaks that a full EV gets if you buy the extender? In Georgia, we pay a lot more for our tags vs ICE as we dont pay gas taxes - how will this car be classified? Will the motor be running at all times to continually charge the batteries - or just be triggered when battery level falls below a predetermined threshold? That is going to determine how often engine maintenance will need to be completed. Will they load the Tesla locations into the software? This Traveler looks amazing - and I am really looking forward to seeing it...but I am a little hesitant to pull the trigger on a completely new company and new vehicle (thinking about Fisker here).
