Wow, your response to people who were hurt by the church was beautiful and so humble and caring. Amazing. Really touching. I’m not a Catholic but if I were, I’d hope for someone like you as a priest.

Fantastic. As a catholic mother of four children, I truly want my kids to be absolutely prepared for the essentials of marriage.

Thank u Pastor. I have been married for six years. It's not been 100% ok but it's been good. Marrying in church is one of the best things that has ever happened to me

Greetings from the Diocese of Cleveland! This is a great video, I shared this with my fiance and you did a better job of explaining it than I did (despite being on our pastoral council!)

Would you please address why it is important to get married as a Catholic in the Catholic Church as opposed to a simple exchange of vows at a venue by a secular certified officiant.

Is this process the same for those who have a decade of being legally married and now want to validate their marriage through the church? Thanks

Sorry for the late response. Basically yes, but it is shortened for times sake by the priest based on his discernment.

Fr. Brad's next Coffee Talk will address this. It will be online Sunday, Oct 14th at 9:30 on our KZbin Channel. We are sorry for the delay in responding. Thank you for your question.

It will be very lonely. Especially when raising children in the faith. Huge responsiblility for one parent. I did it and would never recommend.

Question for people who identify as Catholics; What do you believe to be the Church's view on gay marriage? I've heard different things from different people. I've seen many articles that show the Pope as accepting to the LGBTQ+ community yet in my catholic school they say same-sex marriage is not viewed as sacramental because children cannot come as a product of it. This is true for some heterosexual couples too though in some cases. I'm just curious about people's ideologies on this topic :)

Hey Katie, for the Catholic Church's official teaching on the Sacrament of Matrimony, I would refer you to the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The Church teaches marriage is only between a man and a woman. 1601 "The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament." Regarding exceptions where couples cannot procreate, 1654 "Spouses to whom God has not granted children can nevertheless have a conjugal life full of meaning, in both human and Christian terms. Their marriage can radiate a fruitfulness of charity, of hospitality, and of sacrifice." You can read more in depth on the topic online at www.vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/archive/catechism/p2s2c3a7.htm
