Aquinas taught that, as a sacrament, marriage is a remedy for sin and a cause of grace for the spouses which conforms them to the passion of Christ, not according to its pain, but according to its charity.
Marriage therefore enables the Christian husband and Christian wife, by grace, to love each other, salvifically. Not as the savior of the other, but in imitation of the savior of both: bestowing on each other the love with which Christ loves the Church.

The Real Problem is the Breakdown in Marriage: Have you seen the rise in Annulments from 1968 compared to today within the Catholic Church? The rise in Annulments was a tsunami of Annulments: In 1968, the American church granted fewer than 600 annulments; today in 2020 it hands out more than 60,000 a year - From less than 600 to more 60,000 in 40 Years!

Imagine being the smartest man to ever live second only to the incarnate Christ Himself (and possibly our Lady too), penning down the greatest summary of theology to date, and then just straight up stopping before you finish and saying that all your work is but straw. Absolute Chad move. St. Thomas Aquinas, pray for us.

What a snake-oil salesman this deciever is. He quotes Ephesian's, 5:31 - 32 only, skipping entirely the whole context of Chapter 5. So, here it is in its entirety: 22 Let women be subject to their husbands, as to the Lord: 23 Because the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ is the head of the church. He is the saviour of his body. 24 Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so also let the wives be to their husbands in all things. 25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ also loved the church, and delivered himself up for it: 26 That he might sanctify it, cleansing it by the laver of water in the word of life: 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy, and without blemish. 28 So also ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife, loveth himself. 29 For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, as also Christ doth the church: 30 Because we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they shall be two in one flesh. 32 This is a great sacrament; but I speak in Christ and in the church. 33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular love his wife as himself: and let the wife fear her husband. Note particularly the final verse 33, let the wife fear her husband. This is so very opposite of what The Church has undermined about the God given authority of Husbands and the duties of wives today. Did everyone think all Priests were free of fear? Women today, far from fearing their husbands, demand, fight, and neither fesr nor respect their husbands, yet this, over and above whatever St. Thomas' notes might be, is what God's word to us are, beginning with obedience and ending with fear and respect. The truth is, The Catholic Church has been fighting the God given authority of husbands over their wives since the late 1960's. The authority of husbands is God given and the Church has zero authority to undermine it. The Bible and God's word makes it very clear to The Church, if you undermine the authority of husbands, your own authority will be made VOID! This is not to say that we aren't Catholics anymore or that we don't have to obey orders in line with God. It does mean that any Priest who undermines your God given authority as a husband, is an apostate himself, opposed to The Will of God and the teachings of Church Tradition. This man is an apostate, as is any man who teaches partial truth, as this man does, teaches in direct opposition to God's word, or who, by deception, seeks to subvert, undermine, or distort the Truth of God. Women have taken the lives of 1.5 billion of their own children since the late 1960's, fifty years, doubble the lives taken by men in war over the last eight thousand years. Women are vain, ego-centric, dillusional, and it is given, not to Priests to fix this, to men. Men seek to obey God, seek to submit to His wisdom, seek His guidance and leadership. Do women seek to submit, in all things to their husbands anymore? No, they seek to fight their husbands, divorce them. 80% of divorces are comitted by... you guessed it, wives. This man is a deciever and a liar. He shames our Catholic faith and the very Word of God. He, with kindly and smooth words, seeks to decieve you from the work of getting women back in line with God, which will not be easy. But, we already know exactly where to begin, fear. No, not in the fear of the brutal and violent. Deny women. Reject them. Shame them fro their wickedness. Do not marry the woman who has killed her own child. Deny vain women the privilage of your attention or your time. Teach your son's to feel revulsion towards the wicked women of today. Teach your daughters to fear and respect your authority, making them work along side their brothers, while not being as strong, so as to show them that they are what the Bible calls them, a weaker vessle. Teache your daughters to show grstitude towards their brothers and you, their Father. Teach son's and daughters the full word of God, for it is only withn the full truth can a marriage be sustained. Why is the divorce rate so high and women become so wicked? The Church began its war on God and husbands. We also fight like I fight here, with the sword of Truth. If you want a good marriage, look to God who speaks all Truth, not liars and decievers like this man.

The last episode of the current series is scheduled to be released on Nov. 12th. We'll take a break for a week, and then we'll start "Aquinas 101 - Season 2" after that. We're working hard on those new videos, so please send up a prayer that we can manage to keep up the same release schedule. It's a LOT of work - but we do love doing it, and reading comments like these is really encouraging for us! Thank you!

Saludos brothers. I have a question. Matrimony is a sacrament yes, but what happen when the union is between persons that are not baptized?. In other words, a man and a woman that want to have Childs but they belong to another religion (muslim, jews, etc, etc) or maybe they are agnostics or unbelievers (but are persons of good will). Do they have the sacrament? do they receive the grace?. What is the relation between the matrimony sacrament and baptism?
@jrother
@jrother 3 жыл бұрын
The typical working out of the sacramentality of marriage is that the sacrament only comes about when both spouses are baptized. Since the spouses minister the sacrament to each other by their consent, a spouse cannot give what he/she does not have. Consequently, marriages between non-baptized spouses (and marriages where one is baptized and the other is not) are real natural marriages and fully binding on them for life; however, they do not enjoy the sacramental grace associated with Christian marriage. God, being merciful on even His unregenerated creatures, does give actual graces to married persons to help with daily living. These actual graces, though, are distinct from the special grace that comes from the sacrament.

According to Aquinas the threshhold for marriage is 14 years for boys and 12 years for girls. The age can be lowered given the maturerity of the spouse. Sex with a prepubescent spouse is not immoral and does not dissolve the marriage. For example, the marrige between Muhammad and Aisha and even the consumation of the marriage was covered by the doctrine. Remnants of these doctrines you can find in the USA where in some states even a 10 year old spouse is allowed and marrige is a legitimate defense against statutory rape.
